What would happen if he was engaged to someone in marriage? 

 

My Inquisitor isn't a homewrecker. If he's happy, she'll convince herself to be happy for him, even if it meant putting her own feelings aside.

This. I see the fall of Kirkwall as a pretty pivotal event that changed Cullen's thinking on this. I see that as the point where Cullen would start evaluating how his life had gone so far, and how he wanted his life to go. I think when he took a good hard look at himself - a look he never allowed himself to take while working in Kirkwall - he'd see some things about himself that he wanted to change. One of those things, I think, would be having more of a personal life and allowing himself to connect more with other people.

 

I'm not so sure about the latter part of your post. I mean, he's a Templar so right after the Kirkwall incident he probably had to deal with the fallout of that by either taking over Meredith's job as Knight Commander, or carrying out orders for a new Knight Commander, or maybe even got into a **** load of trouble for insubordination etc. Then the whole Templar/Mage rebellion thing happened, then the events of DAI happened. So I doubt he'd have time to pursue much of a social life/personal life, even if the thought had entered his mind.

 

What I was more referring to is the idea that at some point he'll do a bit of soul searching and realise a few home truths etc, but have no time to do anything about them, then in DAI he suddenly starts to realise that he's developing feelings for the Inquisitor which will eventually push him to the point where he's like "the world is going to hell, I can't control or hide my feelings for her/him anymore, I probably shouldn't do this but I don't want to be without her/him and this could be my only chance to have her/him so I'm gonna allow myself to have this one thing even if it's just fleeting", if that makes sense?

I'm pretty sure there's no templar vow of celibacy. 

 

I'm not sure since some people say there is some that there isn't... however it seems like many templars don't follow the vow closely if there is one, so many templars went to bordels in DA2 and of cource some not so nice one's raped mages : / Anyways it seems like quite many templars had sex during the games.

I agree with this. Regardless of if he's had other relationships in the past, this is completely how I forsee/hope/fantasize the relationship happening.

I think after Kirkwall he would have to do some soul searching, because things couldn't continue as they had.

 

I don't necessarily think he'd act on what he discovered about himself, though. I see the "I should have more of a personal life" as something theoretical for the time being when he realized it. He wouldn't really have the time or opportunity to do anything about it, though.

 

I just see that as being a turning point in his thinking that would open him up to the possibility of a romance with the Inquisitor when the time came.

Ironically, my Inquisitor will be able to deal with every other type of monster.....but freak every time she sees a spider. Snakes? Good. Nightmare? No problem. Red Templars? On it. Demon? Sure. Tiny little spider hanging on a web in her room? Freak the Hell out!

I can only do it when RPing a total a$$bum. But it still hurts me. (Mostly, I just cackle at my Hawke and go "you're such a douche Hawke!")

 

I agree - he'd probably act like a kicked puppy at first, but then would refuse to have anything other than professional and cliped interactions with the inquisitor. (That, or he'll call the inquisitor on their bullsh*t...)
