Oh thank God, I'm not the only one who likes Jowan! I wanted to shank Lily for her heel face turn on him. Even if she was very, very, very anti-blood mage you'd think she would have been more torn if she really cared. Especially when he only pulled out the knife to protect her. >.>

I did like Cullen, but I did also have to sit there at my screen muttering crossly about Jowan's terrible taste in women and the joy of friendzoning on my first playthrough

Every new playthrough: OKAY I'm gonna romance Leliana this time! She's cute and I have never romanced her before.

 

An hour in and I'm crying because I have already engaged a romance with Alistair.

I've done the origin for mages only a couple of times (to test the Cullen romance mod ofc...for science!), saw Jowan as my bestest friend/brother. Lily was a pain in the ass and no good for him. He probably wouldn't have gotten so deep into the poopie if it hadn't been for her

I normally only meet Jowan in Redcliffe, blood mage or no, I always felt kinda sorry for him and free him, one of the few times I get disapproval from Alistair.

Ugh, have to disagree dear. The whole lying to me about blood magic really pissed me off. Jason Amell was not happy in the least. And I certainly didn't feel that it was right to send Lily to Aeonar for Jowan's lying and blood magic.

I've imagined that as part of the intro between inquisitor warriors and Cullen, taking each other's measure. LI or not doesn't matter, I just imagine anyone who is a warrior would want that hands on idea of what the other can do.

It's really hard to play a female Warden and not go that route if you want a male romance, I think. My one Zevran romance was post-Landsmeet breakup, and I managed two PTs with Leliana. I've been slowly playing through a male dalish warrior with Morrigan (plan to send him through the looking glass, er, eluvian, with her). I've been thinking about running a human noble who romances Zevran then convinces Alistair to a political marriage (I think you can stay with Zevran after that) but not sure I'm that interested in seeing it. My mages would totally have gone for Cullen or Bann Teagan if they'd been options instead of Alistair.

 

Edit: added the note about a male romance, I think Leliana's romance is adorable.

I'm doing all that via the Keep. I've only ever managed to romance Zevran. My attempt to play female and romance Alistair was a bust, Leliana isn't interesting enough for me to play a girl all the way through, and Morrigan, who I'd kill to romance, is unavailable to girls, and just no way can I play a straight male. So in the Keep I'll (hopefully) have:

 

Mahariel x no one (US), Alistair rules alone

Tabris x Zevran, Alistair and Anora rule

Cousland x Leliana, political marriage to Alistair

Aeducan x Alistair, stay as Wardens, Anora on throne

I can just never get into playing males, even worse with Hawke, the minute Mhawke started talking I was like I think I managed to get him to lvl 7 or something lol.

Yay for The Keep, I'm hoping I'm going to be able to go wild with couplings and decisions from there that I just can't play in game lol.

Ooh I forgot you you could become Queen and have Leliana as a mistress! I think I'll swap that out for my Solona Amell x Leliana. I didn't like having two gay Circle mages with very similar personalties in one world state anyway!
