So Cullen was a romance added due to the time extension. I wonder if those who think Cullen is there for fanservice will be helped or harmed by this.

Also I hope that Cullen just happens not being intrest of dwarves and qunaris. I don't want any racist execuses that he isn't attracted to them cause he thinks they are heathens when dwarf is surface dwarf and qunaris is Tal-Vashoth. That would be very bad for his character.

Just means it's a more specific romance (as in you can romance them with a limited variety of characters)

I asked Mike Laidlaw to clarify. It's limited in scope meaning Solas and Cullen will only romance Elves/Humans & Elves. Their romance-arc itself is as content heavy and dialogue heavy as the other romances in the game.

Well, bit of a kick in the teeth for LGBTQ gamers really, but an interesting set of options. I had wondered if Cullen was added late after Greg Ellis' VA sessions seemed to be happening at an odd pace. Players who like female elves are having a good time though, imagine what the options would have looked like without Mr Epler's work in IB

On the plus side, Mike also said that the romances aren't class-gated at all. So Cullen will indeed romance a mage of all things!

I feel the same for my fem qunari, but I pretty much expected him to be uninterested in her from the start. I'm glad I made that prediction because otherwise I would be way more upset.

Hey guys I just read about the how drama with the female developer and the crap going on with that. If her ex is not careful, she could technically sue him because that is slander. AND it is illegal. Btw you may want to check out Can't Talk Media on Twitter, they are giving away some codes but they are also really cool!

 

Regarding, the whole Blackwall and Cullen fallout...it's better we know now than later, and I really hope, Artemis that you will recover!

Uh, well, not exactly. A bisexual female elf has six options. A bisexual female human has five options.

 

I, as a straight male planning to make a straight male character, have two options. A gay male gamer making a gay male character has exactly as many, as does a gay female gamer with a gay female character.

 

This isn't the "death-knell" for LGBTQ representation. If anything, most of us are on a level playing field; it's just the humans and elves that are favoured.

 

Yeah, let's please not turn this into bisexual erasure.

I'd heard about the Zoe Quinn thing, didn't realise these hashtags were off the back of that. 

Sorry to continue OT but I was curious as well and thought that tags were about the article by Leigh Alexander on Gamasutra. To prove that gamers are more varied and far from stereotypes she brought in her writing. I did not dig deep though.

Hmmm...gotta say I'm glad they were able to add Cullen.  My brain has painted Blackwall with "Bittersweet and tragic" in huge letters, which will dissuade me from pursuing the romance arc with him.   I'm just not a big fan of bittersweet.  OK, not any kind of fan of bittersweet, even in chocolate.  Of course, there's no guarantee that Cullen will have any 'happy' endings, I suppose.

Is anybody else having a "Now what?" reaction. Elves and humans were the two races *I* didn't see Cullen with. (In terms of me telling a good story, not his sexual attraction).

That's a very real possibility though. He has called both Dwarves and Qunari heathens in the past.

 

Maybe you have the opportunity to get him to change his opinion?
