Apparently hate and abusive messages to the devs have started... I knew it would.

Not surprising, but that'll always be the case as long as there's a large population of internet users.  The important thing to remember is that those people don't represent an entire *insert ethnicity, sexuality, nation, etc.*.

So is this where I can admit that everyone I really wanted to romance, is possible for me to romance.  And I'm even more excited than ever before!  I now have no less than three playthroughs in the planning, and I'm drooling over the chance to finally, finally play!

Yeah I can kind of get Qunari but...really? Cullen knows about as much as dwarves as he does the dalish. That's really not believable to me as an excuse.

 

If he had been gated to only humans that I'd perfectly understood. But dalish?  They have as bad a reputation as the dwarves though. And there were plenty of dwarves that weren't members of the Carta in Kirkwall. Cullen's interaction with the dalish has been what exactly? Merrill's clan? If he even met them?

 

Add to his experience with dwarves being members of the Carta and, even earlier, a drunk-off-his-tail-always Oghren and then consider that dwarves are just plain SHORT ... I was trying to respond to someone's assertion that physical attraction wasn't good enough a story reason and I offered a possible story reason.  But add it to the physical component and it still makes sense.

 

Elves are just prettier than dwarves.

Yeah personally that just doesn't strike me as very solid. Also he could've never met Oghren. I certainly didn't have Oghren in my party during Broken Circle. I did have Sten though XD

 

But I disagree physical attraction isn't really a story reason. It's just a personal preference. Which is fine and perfectly acceptable as a reason for restriction but it's not a story reason.

 

Not DA2 elves. I'm not too fond of DAI elves either. Way too scrawny.

Thankfully the devs know that the vast majority of us don't belong to the Goon Platoon, I'd hate to be tarred with that brush.

In the immortal words of FemShep " oh, that is NOT ok". Anyone involved in such a thing should be ashamed of themselves.

 

You know, I haven't considered any other romances except Cullen, I'm kind of boring that way lol.

I've considered morphing into a squirrel and hibernating for two months, eat like a pig for a few days then sleep until November.   It seems so far away lol.

Aaaand cue the one possible reason for racegating Cullen that could actually ****** me off. I find it easier to identify physically with Qunari than elves, and I know quite a few people have said the same thing about identifying with dwarves.* I guarantee the reason for dwarf/Qunari femquisitors having fewer options is not "tiny/skinny women are intrinsically more attractive than tall/athletic or short/curvy women". That's probably not what you're saying, but a tiny part of my brain has been stewing over a tiny part of my feelings' knee-jerk gut reaction to elves having the most options.

 

* EDIT: although for me personally the point is moot because I am apparently unimaginative enough that I mostly identify with the humans anyway.

Allow me to respectfully agree with your second statement by saying that because physical attraction is subjective, as you say, all the more reason why this character, for whatever reason they have that may be unknown to us right now, may not be physically attracted to Dwarves or Qunari. It may not make much sense right now but it may make more sense once we get to know this version of Cullen. Who of course I expect to be different in many ways than the few interactions we've had with him in the past.

Technically it could be a story reason- we don't actually know the story yet, right? Not his story. Maybe Qunari killed his mother or he's afraid of the dark so that's why he can't deal with Dwarves.
