With the announcement of Blackwall...in a way, I have an excuse to play a dwarf now. XD

 

Even their women have beards...

So yeah; Maybe its as simple aesthetics, if you can't get it up to a race, i don't see the issue.

 

I don't view every one that passes me in the office as attractive.

I'll give you that. And I think it is simple aesthetics.

 

Or I would if BW did not say it was for "Story Reasons". After that statement...idk

OMG. I can't believe my dwarf got Blackwall. It definitely lightens the sting of losing Cullen.

I'm there with you, while I feel sad for the people who didn't get the LI they hoped for, I am really super excited about all of these characters. I have never been spoiled for choice before, and I am worried about finding enough time to complete the number of play-throughs I want to! I always assumed I would go for Cullen with a human female mage first (I've wanted to ever since Origins), but now there's the lovely beardy Blackwall, and I don't know if I should do a female dwarf for him or an older human (actually taking advantage of the "older" complexion types- I think it would be really interesting to be able to play a character who is not 20-something. I remember my husband wanted to play a male mage who had gray hair and wrinkles in Origins, but everyone spoke to him like he was a youngster and it pissed him off lol. Plus if you made an old Hawke, his/her mother looked the same age...). Then of course I need an elf for Solace, and I want a Qunari for Dorian, and...I seriously want to have a character for every single one of the 8 LI available, and that has never happened to me before.

Supposedly. I'm really hoping that they had enough time to fully flesh out the Cullen romance, I'd hate for it to feel like an afterthought.

I felt nervous reading how Cullen was only put in as a later LI option because of additional time. I am sooo happy that happened, but I hope that his story won't be less detailed compared to other companions because of that.

It's probably due to Blackwall's vague resemblance to Thorin Oakenshield. Let's hope he's not equally as doomed.

I'm like the ones who are nervous a bit with Cullen's romance. The main reason I don't romance Sebastian is because of the lack of depth to it. I like his character a lot (surprise that I do), and I felt really bad having to lose him to keep Anders...so it would've been nice for Sebastian romance to have the same depth as the others. With that in mind, I hope being added later doesn't mean Cullen's romance suffers the same fate. While I have to trust the devs word for now, I just don't want my hopes to crash really hard with this romance.

I'm fine with Cullen being race-gated, I planned to romance him with a human anyway. I'll just pair up my Qunari with Iron Bull and my dwarf with Josie, Sera or Blackwall.

I do feel that they could have made more of the LIs bi, though, if only to make more players happy.

 

Also, the "limited in scope" worries me a little, but I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

Welp, so much for my first playthrough. I admit I am disappointed that female Qunari/Dwarves can't romance him, but in a way it works out better for my characters. My Qunari wouldn't respect him as a person if Cullen couldn't overlook her race, and my Dwarf would just roll her eyes at him cause she doesn't have time for that. So thank you Devs, for the roleplay opportunity.

I'm just saying Lucy, if you walk in the woods with your dog and get attacked by a bear, you’ll let your dog get killed attacking the bear so you can run away and live. Because as much as you love your dog, he’s not a human person.

 

Depends on people really. I couldn't live with myself If I let my dog getting killed. I also read in news about guy who did suicide after putting down his dog cause landlord threatened to drive him from his home. He couldn't live with guilt of killing his best friend (<- that what suicide note said). I'm not sure if I'd let myself killed over my dog but wounded at least for sure.
