With this speaking of dwarves, how do you think Cullen would act around our Dwarven Inquisitor?

I think he'll be unerringly polite and openly respectful.  I rather imagine he'll behave that way around any one of our Inquisitors, that he'll wait until he truly knows our characters before he becomes anything more.  Real friendship may take time and more personal interaction before he relaxes, I think.

I think you're misunderstanding, Lorien.  It was my subjective opinion that dwarves aren't as pretty as elves, I mean.  To assert I'm wrong in that opinion, to me, doesn't make sense.  Because it's no more wrong for me to feel that way, than it is for you to feel different, I think.  That's all I was saying.  But I probably worded it badly, I'm sowwy!  I think we're really saying the same thing, is all.  Please know I didn't mean to offend, hugs.

Edited for top.  Hey, Cullen LIKED my Hawke, see, lol?

@phyreblade74: And I can get behind that. Dragon Age Origins and 2 had quite a bit of depth in the friendship department and romance department. Since Inquisition has much more gameplay time, I am glad to know the depth within those two departments will go further. That means they can grow at a reasonable rate, depending on the characters.

With Cullen, like you, I believe he will need time. With everything he went through, I can see him needing to know you more before he can open himself up.

I think he'd be rather normal around dwarven Inquisitor (though spy thing could make him wary first?)

In other hand I think he'd act little nervously around these ones:

Mage human Inquisitor: I think things can be first akward since Cullen is templar and mage human Inquisitor's circle was annulled and he/she has been running from templars since. Depending on his current views of mages he could be either apologetic or wary.

Qunari Inquisitor: Qunaris are pretty exotic sigh in Thedas and probaply their size will be intimidating. So he could be startled and wary first.

Dalish Inquisitor: Dalish have different traditions from humans and there can be some misunderstandings between Cullen and elf Inquisitor. Cullen might be careful not to offend dalish Inquisitor by mistake.

IE 11 on Win7.

I really hate Firefox and Chrome...but they don't seem to work for me here either

IE is known to have problems with BSN. Particularly in quoting. I've never had trouble with Chrome or FF, however.

Just in case this helps... [[Please ignore if you knew this!! Note that you need to post your pic elsewhere (like photobucket), and just post the direct link to it here, using img tags. ]]

I've really had to rethink my inquisitors! I think I'll pair a human with Cullen since my elf will be paired with Solas.

I made a chart for meself.  I changed some of the names from what I had originally planned, because reasons :)

Amylia Female Human Rogue Cullen

Pheena Female Qunari Warrior Iron Bull

Cornelius Male Human Warrior Josephine

Liselle Female Human Mage Blackwall

Adran Male Elven Rogue Dorian

Mayahuel Female Dwarf Rogue Sera

Anieria Female Elven Mage Solas

Barnabus Male Dwarf Warrior Cassandra

That's not necessarily the order I will play them in, but Human Female Rogue (or Warrior) is my default first playthrough because it's such a neutral baseline.  I like having that as a first playthrough because then on subsequent playthroughs I can see all the differences.  (Shamefully, my favorite differences go into my NerdBook).

(edited because it didn't copy/pasta right, on my chart)

Wow. Excellent. That's amazing.  For some reason, I can only plan one at a time.  My first playthrough will be Grace Trevelyan, a painfully self-conscious  human rogue, and she will be romancing Cullen.   That's all I've got.

IE 11 is known to have problems. As soon as IE updated to 11 for me, I could no longer quote here on BSN. I switched to Chrome and haven't had any problems.  ^_^

My updated Inquisitor chart:

1. Skye Adaar, male qunari mage: Cassandra.

2. Valpur Adaar, female qunari warrior, self insert: 4everalone.

3. Tamarin Lavellan, male elf rogue: Dorian.

4. Michal Trevelyan, female human ?: Cullen

I don't know which order I will play. Most likely I will play many at same time ^^

The irony of Cullen’s mage child being able to grow up in a world where she won’t be taken from him for being a mage, where he can watch her grow and where her mother can teach her how to use her powers in the safety and comfort of their own home

And he suddenly understands

oh god, i'm very much not into parenthood, due to personal preferences, but this post struck my feeling so hard... that would be an A+ character development for cullen ;u;

ok i admit, big masculine guys in a role of father seems kinda cute (:

Yesterday Lola thought that Cullen's and Solas' romances might be race-gated because they were only added as a result of the extra development time that BioWare got. To restrict the characters for certain races would have saved a lot of work and time. This is an opinion I very much agree with. I've been skimming the "Romances in Inquisition" thread just now and stumbled upon a comment by David Gaider that strongly indicates that we are right with this assumption.

Yes. Full-fledged insofar as the writing goes, but each "combination" of race and gender means an entirely extra set of work for cinematics in full conversations. It's not just a switch we can flip because we want to. We only had time to add so much additional work, and these were the options that made sense for the characters and which made for good stories to tell.

I'm still baffled that Solas and Cullen are additionally and wasn't first planned. To me they seem to fit better to what DA has before had as romance types: handsome straight human and pretty bi elf. Blackwall and Iron Bull being original straight female LI's just is so weird to me.

Regardless of orientation, I'm still surprised at just how many LIs there are in this game

First off, I think the word bigotry is tossed around awful casually. We don't know for certain that Cullen is a bigot. All we know is that he isn't into forming romantic attachments with females from two of the races. A bigot is someone is someone who is rigidly devoted to their own group (whatever it may be) and intolerant of someone from any other. So unless we get into the game and discover that Cullen absolutely refuses to even give qunari or dwarven quizzies the time of day or form a friendship with them, I'm not sure that calling him a bigot is the correct term. It's a little like you're saying that if someone won't romance a person of a differing orientation, then they must be a bigot in that way, too, and that's not true - some are straight, some are bi, and some are gay and it means they go for who they go for. And before someone calls me for equating orientation to race, I remind you that it is done all the time these days when the Civil Rights movement is used as a comparison.

So until we get into the game and find out what's what, let's just hold our judgment on this and stop tossing around the bigot word. It's awfully ugly and may not actually be true.

3. (Saoirse? Something with a ton of L's from an Elf Name Generator?) Lavellan, xcore mage-freedom warrior (probably Reaver), Solas

Saoirse is actually a Celtic name:

Saoirse "sear + sha"

Irish word saoirse "freedom, liberty." It has only been used since the 1920s and has strong patriotic overtones. It has become a very popular baby girl name in Ireland in recent years.

Oh, I know -- I'm Irish-American and most of my Bioware PCs have Irish names (Deirdre Shepard, Aoife Trevelyan, etc., and in the anglicized category there's been a Kathleen and there will be an Elvis and Rowan). But if I'm going to play an elf I might instead give her one of the ridiculous Tolkienesque elf names with 50 L's and A's that the other writers apparently love to make fun of Patrick Weekes about. :)
