Cullen and FemQuisitor may not get the battle lovers feeling, but we'll at the very least get the whole "and now it's time to leave my lover behind and say goodbye for what could very well be the last time for all we know" vibe ... which is tragic in its own right. I feed on the angst. ![]()

I'm actually almost done replaying the Broken Circle quest and had ... not gonna lie, Cullen is definitely not at his best moment when you run into him there. If he were still as hateful and angry and paranoid in Inquisition, I wouldn't want to romance him either. But we've already seen his character progression in DA II and the little comments we've gotten on his character for Inquisition have me truly believing that he will be of a more neutral nature.
I'm trying to force myself to side with the Templars for the very first time (this is my fifth play through). I've been having a moral dilemma all day about it, no joke lol.
I think it's made worse when you are a female Mage and he says those things to you. lol But I am not going to lie...I didn't like Cullen at first. But between seeing him in Origins and then DA 2, I warmed up to him...to the point I hoped he would be in the next game and romance able.

True, I have a good feeling every romance is going to have a lot of unique moments or at least that is what I am hoping for. Regardless, I see DAI ending with some loved faces sinking beneath the ground for a long deserved sleep.

My stumbling block was actually DA2. Specifically, the way he's half-approving of Alrik. Not Elthina's finest hour either. I don't want to hurt him or fire him. I'm just not entirely sure I want to make the time and RP investment to romance him.

Hoping for the same myself. And knowing Cullen sings...I don't care how cheesy it would be, I would soak in all the love songs he may send toward my Quizzy!

Oh yeah, I remember. He is soooooo angry with the fem-mage when she returns because of how the demon tortured him. He is not in a good place at that time.
I had one play through with my head cannon being that she was still carrying a torch for Cullen but that moment obviously killed it.
Anyway, just sided with the Templars. It was ... a lot easier than I thought it'd be. I still used the Litany so not all the mages were killed in the Harrowing chamber and Irving willingly goes into confinement. I just hope that when I get to my little slides at the end it doesn't tell me that the Chantry decided to kill every single mage in the tower. I will probably hate myself forever. Haha!
I'm also planning a playthrough for DA II where I am pro-Templar all the way. I've tried this route before and it inevitably fails. So we'll see how it goes.

I plan to do the same with my next female Hawke, who is going to romance Fenris. Mostly to see how it will affect Inquisition.

Wait, when did he half-approve of Alrik?
Unless you meant in Act 1...

Do we know what he sings or why he sings, as in just for the romance exclusively or does he break out into a broadway musical with a cane and all? You know I wish Vivienne sung...I imagine the lyrics being beautiful insults, lol!

No, we don't, and I don't believe it is romance exclusive...but if Vivienne sung with insults, that would be hilarious!

I agree, hence why i support the circle no matter how restrictive it has to be after this rebellion.
Also did you note the mage that was being impaled on the pike was making noises similar to that of a person having a difficult time in the bathroom?
It always reminded me of that, i never could take the scene seriously
The Circle is a prison a symbol of oppression. Mage freedom all the way baby!!!

Hmm...well that is one unique romance moment down, possibly that is. Eh, the same thing happened with Leliana...so what if L and C sing together. Vivienne...oh how I wish you are/were a romance, that would be so epic so I know one of Quizzy will be alone.
Oh and since we are on such a light hearted moment I once again post this video, lol!
Imagine this...but in DAI! Cassandra....Vivienne breaking it down...my life would be complete.

Lol! I think the devs are better off far, far away.
I'm just catching up on the days news and Skyhold looks amazing! I'm loving the look and now I'm picturing where Cullen's "corner" would be and how it would be personalized. It's much easier for me to imagine someone like Dorian or Varric in their surroundings than Cullen.

Every mage I have I headcanon her feeling really sorry for him and at that moment really hating being a mage for all the torment it put him through having feelings for her. it then extends to Jowan and what magic did to him and she begins to blame herself for that because if he hadn't felt inferior to her magic he might not have been so desperate to turn to blood magic, and then to Alistair. She wondered if her being a mage and him having feelings for her tormented him as much as it did Cullen. She kind of goes into a self loathing anti magic state for a while.

With the exception of romancing Alistair...that sounds like my Human Mage. XD Except she did came close to killing Jowan, before she realized she couldn't bring herself to kill her best friend.

See, I didn't feel that he was angry at my female Mage when she met him in the Broken Circle quest, he was angry at the demon who tormented him for days on end. Based on what Cullen said, it sounded like he demon was tormenting him with visions of finally being able to be with my mage, and I imagine the demon got pretty in-depth with the scenarios, with the amount of time she had.

Blackwall...that man has the kiss of death all over him. I still have this little thought that Bioware may just surprise us by not having him die.
There is definite "tragic romance" potential- I admit, that's part of his appeal for me. If he dies, that means that there is a definite end to the relationship that can't be touched by clumsy epilogue ending slides. ![]()

I have two mage playthroughs. The first was a relatively neutral mage who was able to find sympathy for Cullen after some time I'm sure, but she performed the ultimate sacrifice ... so no chance of any kind of reconciliation there. ![]()
The second was a ruthless, shameless and arrogant blood mage. She enjoyed Cullen's crush for partially mean-spirited reasons, though I always head-cannon her as having this sick and twisted sense of "rejection" after running into him again later. She really couldn't get past his whole being tortured thing, probably because she ... well, never had an issue consorting with demons. I'm sure it will all come back to bite her big time in the long run.

Honestly, if I could, I'd pair him with Amell, because my Wardens tend to do a lot of shady things and end up single. Older and wiser crushes coming back together. I think that's part of my problem--Tevelyan reads so young, especially the non-mage.

Really? Weird. I have mine mentally close to about 30, which is younger than I am, but I don't consider it very young. Maybe it's just because I wedged so much into her back story already? Heh.

I am imagining the Tevelyan mage as being ... probably 19-22. Because this takes place three years after the Kirkwall circle is disbanded? And they were an apprentice at the time in Ostwick?
I'm headcannoning my Dalish elf mage as being in her late twenties, which is my age. Probably better suited for Cullen maturity wise but I'm not sure how the differing religions will work in the end.
