I don't think they said Leliana lives in the rookery, just that she hangs out there (hopefully not literally). I kind of like this more kick-a** Leliana, I could never quite wrap my brain around the bardic assassin who also squeed over nugs and teased Sten for picking flowers and playing with kittens. I liked her a lot, but she felt seriously schizophrenic to me. I think they said she tends to behave one way in public because of her position, but she'll let her lighter side come out in private with friends?

 

I suspect they won't let us see a more furnished Cullen bedroom because it'll probably give away things about his personality and background that we don't know yet. That one bedroom they showed, I'm having a hard time putting anyone in it, unless it's an intermediate stage (after all, the painting isn't hung on the wall yet?) The stuff on the floor just doesn't fit Vivienne, while the lute suggests Leliana, but I would expect her to have a painting of the Divine or Andraste. The only other NPC with ties to Orlais is possibly Blackwall, and I don't think a grey warden would be that interested in the Empress. I suppose Morrigan might have a room in Skyhold if her role is something of an ambassador from Celene...

It's adorable seeing these big tough, badarse guys with all these tattoos and who have had it rough turn into little boys over dogs-- and it melts your heart to see them get upset over animal cruelty and the like. Faith in at least part of humanity always restored with shows like that.

If he did he at least knew Cullen and something about him. You need to know person in some level in order to write about them.

Oh, I agree, but we rarely saw anything except the bubbly Leliana in DAO when I knew at the same time she was essentially an assassin. Of course, she's also supposed to be a superb actress, but I found it hard to wrap my brain around the contradiction. I feel like we're finally going to openly see the more serious side of her in DAI, though it'll be a let down if we don't see some of the other. As for her in the gameplay video, well, she'd just been tortured, most people are going to be pretty angry at that moment.

A little late to the party on this (and have posted it before, anyway,) but my first/canon Inquisitor is Tempest Trevelyan, a human mage who will be romancing Cullen.

No, no. That's pretty much par for the course For female characters in the DA series. The sternum is provides plenty of protection against incoming projectiles.

Imagine how much she'll hate the Warden if that happened. She seemed pretty pissed off in the video we saw of her with the Qunari Inquisitor.

 

This makes me want to make a Warden that kills Leliana. At least once. The tension will be fun to watch. In fact, make it a dalish Warden whose clan was slaughtered by Hawke. Ah, how awkward when they all meet....

Am I misremembering/inserting headcanon or was there something in DA2 or the prerelease materials that implies Cullen keeps himself a little isolated from the men?

Final love interest is Blackwall, he is a female only LI. Cullen is not only gender-gated but race gated to female humans and elves only. News on the Skyhold came out, we are based in Haven village before we get our Skyhold which will need a lot of repair work, Leliana lives in the rookery and Nick Sadler is holding a competition to give away a signed DAI t.shirt... totally add him on Twitter, he's great!

I do wonder how Cullen will feel about that. On the one hand mages, but on the other hand the Templars betrayed the Divine and ran off to slaughter mages brutally so I can't imagine he'd be in full support of their behaviour, lol. Maybe he'll surprise us and be pretty neutral about it?

 

I'd actually be surprised if Cullen wasn't relatively neutral at this point.

 

Even in DA2, he would generally respond more positively to a fairly neutral conversational approach than an extremist one in either direction. (Oddly, he seemed to react most negatively to a pro-templar extremist.) And that was before he saw Meredith turn.

 

He also appears not to have followed the rebel templars.

 

I'm sure Cullen will still have a lot of doubts and reservations about mages. But since he would have doubts and reservations about templars too at this point, I see him aiming for some middle ground.

 

Plus, from a gameplay standpoint, Cullen has to be able to have at least a working relationship with an Inquisitor at any point on the spectrum. Companions can leave if your choices don't suit them, but advisors can't. I'm sure Cullen has his own opinions, but he has to be relatively flexible about them to do his job.

 

I wonder what Cullen's room will be like once he's done the place up? His room looked pretty small in the picture...

 

My guess is initially it would be pretty sparse. He's spent most of his adult life as a soldier, so he may not really know how to do up a civilian room. I think it would be adorable if his room started out basic and he lagged behind everyone else, but eventually he found his own style.

 

Even better if he moved into the Inquisitor's room eventually.

 

I do wonder if he'll surprise us with his interests and oddities, I bet he's got some funny little traits.

 

I hope so! I don't even care what specifically, but I'd love for him to have some unexpected hobbies or interests; it would be endearing to discover them.
