Boy, I sure hope so. I have to say... the "limited in scope" comment still concerns me a bit, despite MLaw's repeated clarifications. But, honestly, my Hawke's non-existent relationshp with Cullen was still satisfying in my head... so I hope that no matter what it is, I'll be good. ^_^

Yeah, it's still a concern of mine. I know he and Josephine have the same amount of content as the others, but that IGN article where Cameron Lee said that their romance-arcs take place in the Skyhold puts me off a bit... I know they don't travel with us, but I'd at least hope for some recognition of things on the occasion that we do bump into them out and about.

That threw me a little too, but I take heart that DG also chimed in and assured us that they are equal to all the other romances. And I'm overwhelmed by anticipation whenever Brianne says stuff like this:

Which hints that Cullen, despite his awkwardness in referring to the people who worked at the brothel, has a very pragmatic side, at least when it comes to other people. He might even explain it to himself as protecting the mages...

For sure! The interview with his writer even mentions that he'll always do right by his soldiers and that his troops trust and depend on him, so he obviously cares a lot about their wellbeing.

It'll be nice to watch him in action, we never really got to see him doing much leading in DA2.

It's really hard to keep up with this thread! Its a good thing I haven't really started to venture out yet. :P

I'm pretty excited about snarky Cullen. :) I actually have been writing a little tiny story myself- completely safe for work, just a little imagined moment between my inquisitor and Cullen. Is there a website somewhere where we post ff or should I just post it here? It's not super long but I would love some feedback.

You can post it here under a spoiler tag, if you want?

Hey Cullenites, first time I've posted in this thread. I spent a night getting this short story out of my head, and was just wondering what you guys thought of my characterization of Cullen. It's ~1100 words. So shorter than your average TL:DR post. This takes place in a world with an Inquisitor who has/is romancing Cullen.

Spoiler

Welcome to the thread!

I think you captured Cullen's character perfectly, both the reserved persona he often shows outwardly, as well as the more softer, gentler side that he shows when he's around certain people he trusts. I also liked how Cullen's Templar training having pre-conditioned him to never truly be comfortable around Mages, although he can ignore it. I always imagined the same thing being true of Alistair in Origins, who can ignore it for someone he trusts like Wynne but when it comes to Morrigan, she constantly puts him on edge.

I wonder who his cinematic designer is?

I'd imagine it's not just one person. I'd assume that the whole team works to bring him to life.

How can you tell?

I think she tweeted it when Cullen was revealed but I'm not sure. I'll try to find the tweet.

I might be getting confused (again lol) and I remember Sylvia's tweet about it.

Yeah, I was wrong. It's not Richard. Sorry!

I've threatened that guy with a sarcastic Hawke and he doesn't bat an eye.

Speaking of characters, one of my favorite parts is actually emphasizing upon their flaws.

I'm also a masochist, so a lot of my characters usually end up in extremely mentally and emotionally challenging situations at some point or another. I like to see how each of them would deal with said situation and what they emerge as after the fact.

Yea, you have to be an aggressive Hawke in order to nail that line.  Although that same quest allows a sarcastic Hawke some pleasing dialogue with Merril, once they confront the guards at the warehouse, too.  It's a real fun quest, all told, up to and including Isabella's comments: "Oh, that poison could kill a man in less than a minute ... can I have it?"

Now, I'm not sure I'd call myself a masochist, personally.  I do know I've played around with the notion of serious traumas that my characters have had to contend with, more than a few times in my RPG play over the years.  IMO true heroes aren't simply born but made and shaped by their life experiences.  A real hero is as much a product of whatever extraordinary challenge they've managed to overcome, as any warm, caring background they might have enjoyed.  I mean, like forging a sword, maybe.  A hero is first put through the rigors of a blazing fire before being shaped into a weapon.

I don't know if that makes so much sense, though, sorry.

My Hawke's suprisingly are more goodies than my Wardens. Maybe one reason is that when I got DAO that warden business sounded boring to me so I tried everything to not to go with Duncan. Then I realised that you must be a warden and I developed quite dislike towards Wardens and Duncans for it XD Lol, probaply not right way to play DAO!

I have blue Hawke (my blood mage Niall), purple Hawke (my archer Ania) and red Hawke (my assassin Kayla). Niall was very self-sacrificing so it was his flaw too.. he also blamed himself too much over things. I think that he chose to go with templars in the end cause he was just so tired (he had lost his family earlier and couldn't stop Qunaris from slaughtering people etc which he blamed himself) so he just did simple math: templar ending saves more people instead of being noble.

Ania's fault would be that she doesn't take anything seriously and hides behind jokes. She kinda sweeps problems away with jokes as well like in her relationship with Anders, she refused to see that anything was wrong with him. I guess it's defense-mechanism for her.

Kayla in other hand is more egoistical and cares mostly about people close to her: family and friends. So she didn't want to get involved in people's problems if it wasn't people close to her or profit. Still, she was quite blunt towards Aveline and Varric both and got even Aveline to punch her face (I was so suprised, that hadn't happened before!).

Aveline punches Hawke?  I've never rivaled Aveline, the sweetheart of a girl.  Maybe I should try it out, shrug.

I love Morrigan, but is there anyone she doesn't put at least a little on edge?  :P  She's written to be abrasive, after all, and I'm not sure it has to do with her being a mage.

I wonder if they will reveal anything else this week. On the one hand I really want more information, but on the other hand it only adds more to my list of ever growing DAI vids I need to make!

Oh, I like the idea of more vids.  That being said, I am also pretty satisfied with what I know about Inquisition so far...they've let us know way more than I'd expected already.  I do want that Greg Ellis VA video, though at this point....who knows?

I want more stuff, but I'm afraid that the big info deluges are done now. We might get little things like that Skyhold bit we saw, but I'm afraid that we won't see any more major info bursts. :(

I'd like to see more on the advisors. More Josephine than Cullen. Right now she seems a bit bland, the fallback if your first choice doesn't work.

I have a handful of Male Wardens who romanced her who argue that she puts them on edge in the best kind of way!

As I tend to befriend Alistair, I always feel for him in those playthroughs, as I'm constantly forcing him to deal with the Warden's annoying girlfriend. Anyone who's ever been in that situation before with a friend's partner who hates them, will know exactly how he feels!

I know a few bits and pieces still to come that aren't spoilery, but beyond that I dread to think... especially as it seems Cameron Lee has a habit of dropping really clangers in every interview he does.

Yeah, Josephine is a complete unknown really. I mean, yeah we also don't know much about Cullen from a personal standpoint, but at least we known a large chunk of his backstory surrounding his life within the Order.

Oooooo, interesting..., and yeah, I don't care about spoilers that much. As long as I don't get spoiled about what the Elder One is, like I was with Meredith, I'm ok with spoilers.

Maybe we get some new info this week? Please? Pretty please?

Then the following week, we get The Last Flight, so that ought to be a very good read, based on the 78 pages I got out of that preview.
