I mean about how she feels with her high position. For some reason, I wonder if she may be a bit high strung when we initially see her, something that might put him off a little. And just because she's been cooperative concerning the Chantry/Circle regulations doesn't mean he's automatically gonna like her.

Do you mean that she feels entitled to superior treatment due to her high position? I can appreciate that she is going to have rich tastes, and may even grumble about having to slum it whenever that is required by the Inquisition (which I'm sure it will be (not only based on how Skyhold will begin)), but I don't see her actively objecting to deigning to tolerate lower class amenities. I'm sure that she has some sort of appreciation for not being an apostate, and plays the game well because she loves it, and loves being provided the opportunity to better things for other mages; it sort of says so in her character interview I think? That she tries to change peoples views on mages?

When it was mentioned that Cullen may "dislike" Dorian, I was assuming to the point of barring him from the Inquisition, executing him or Tranquilizing him ( d: ), but I was probably being overzealous in my assumption. He may very well dislike Vivienne, but I don't see it as being anything malicious; maybe being annoyed from time to time.

True...I think that is the problem with the new characters is that we don't know much about them. So, I am probably wrong about her (mind you, I don't hate her, but her description makes it seem like she is more about herself than others). But I don't think he would be malicious toward her or even Solas or Dorian. If he has problems with them, he will try to keep civil as possible.

Removing blood magic as a PC spec but giving it to one of the companions?  I doubt that... Besides, necromancy in DA:O was unrelated to blood magic.  In DA2 Quentin used it, but he was involved in something that went well beyond reanimating corpses...

Animate dead is a wholly different thing than resurrecting a dead person's spirit. Also, Yavanna in the comics resurrecting that guy's spirit using blood.

And yeah, I can easily see them giving blood magic to a companion. In DA2, they did it fine with Merril. The only issue was Hawke's usage of the stuff.

To be honest, I haven't really seen enough evidence that any of our party members is particularly self-sacrificing or altruistic, so I'd hope that Vivienne wouldn't be singled out by Cullen (or anyone, for that matter) for lacking those traits. As you say, we don't really know much about anyone at this point. They need to release this game sooner. :D

Ah. Haven't read the comics. I would agree that Animate Dead is different than resurrecting a dead person's spirit, but it wasn't something I've been exposed to in DA thus far. I didn't interpret the term Necromany as manipulation of spirits though, I assumed it would mean control over the dead, including deceased wildlife and maybe living rats and the pestilence that follows them.

I also wasn't disagreeing that Dorian could be a blood mage, only saying that it wasn't a guarantee.

That's fine. I agree, I have no idea if Dorian is a blood mage, but it's certainly possible. At the very least, when our companions first hear that he's from Tevinter, most will probably assume he's a blood mage by default. I'd bet Cullen's gonna have a field day when he first hears of Dorian.

Isn't that what I just said?  I guess we have different expectations for necromancy in DA:I.  I am expecting it to relate mostly to reanimation, not keeping somebody's head alive and attaching it to a different body or dealing with people's souls... *shrugs*  I guess we'll see what happens.

I'm expecting Dorian to have some version of the necromancy spec, if not the exact spec that the Inquisitor uses... but like I said, we'll have to wait and see.  I highly doubt that they would put a blood mage on our team alongside a Seeker, and then give us a Templar as military advisor.  Heck, even Leliana might object to a blood mage on the Inquisition... they said that they removed blood magic as a PC spec because it didn't fit the story and they couldn't give an accurate representation of the world's reaction to it.  Ignoring that stigma when it comes to companions seems like the opposite of their stated goal...  I also wouldn't bring up DA2 as an example of anything.  That game was full of handwaving and lore inconsistencies.

So ... do you think templars take a hot bath once a month (or whatever an appropriate frequency would be in this universe / technological era) or are made to make due with a cold water basin for washing in daily at maximum? Think Cullen's ever enjoyed a good soak?

I don't know why I felt the need to ask, but my mind has gone there and now I had to go find some old Aimo. Skyhold could have a hot spring, you don't know. Spoilered for maybe not suitable for work.

There's a passage in Asunder where Tranquils are filling hot tubs and preparing baths. The context is too spoilery to go into, but it shows that Circles can have entire bathing quarters with nice hot water. Possibly the higher-ranking Templars (Knights and up) use those, and recruits / low ranks just use the good old cold bucket and a good scrub.

I certainly hope Skyhold has springs or baths or even a bucket, because my lady Quizzie may be brave and strong and the Herald of Andraste blah blah blah, but I don't want Cullen smelling her armpits after a week out battling bears and demons and monsters.

Skyhold needs a hot spring of some kind. It could be like Suikoden, where sitting in it made you "toasty!"

There's a hot springs inhabited by dragons. Maybe the reward for clearing it is a special Hot Springs Episode ....?

You know this has been on my mind for a while now, but I keep thinking how long the Inquisition will last... It's not gonna be like the Chantry where it lasted this long in DA lore, but its influence will change the future course of DA history. Definitely, for sure.

Eventually, your companions will disband and this got me thinking what will happen to CullenxInquisitor pairing. Will their love prevail or will their alliances (ie Dalish First to go back to her clan and Cullen back to human world) come first?

As I think about it, a "happy" ending of being together seems possible with a Trevelyan noble, given the politics and assumed beliefs about magic in Thedas.

Something to add to the discussion as I patiently wait for the actual game COMING IN 73 MORE DAYS!!! :P Sorry if this has been talked about before

Please don't hit me for this, but you were talking about lyrium addiction and the subject of the Calling came up in the Blackwall thread. Do you know what would really sell me on a Cullen romance? Something like this:

(The Inquisitor has just sat in judgment of a lyrium-addled templar. Cullen approaches her aftewards, a thoughtful, pained look on his face).

Inquisitor: Ser Cullen? (notices they're alone, reaches for him). Cullen, what's wrong? I know it can't be easy, working against other templars.

Cullen: (half smile, quoting something he's heard many times) Whatever we were before, we are now the Inquisition. But...but what you saw today happens to all templars eventually. The lyrium warps our thoughts.

I: Our thoughts? Bu you left the Order!

C: Once we start taking the lyrium, we can't stop. We need it like food or water. I still have a few decades left, but I'll end up like all the rest.

(Inquisitor goes pale. She's not the Herald of Andraste, but a woman and a woman discovering that her dreams of the future are only dreams. Long silence)

C: I should have told you.

I: You might forget who I am?

C: Yes. (glum, this is not going well and now comes the hard part). Trevelyan. Your Eminence. I won't be a burden. If you wish to end it, tell me. I shall always be your faithful commander.

I (summons her Fade power and holds up her hand. They both stare) You've made this bearable. If the Maker grants we survive this, then I will stand beside you. Even when the lyrium comes for you.

(Cullen is too overcome to speak, seizes her good hand and presses kisses to her wrist and palm)

...Okay, yes,THIS would definitely sell me! More than the mere thought of romancing him!

That looks like the perfect opportunity for the Quizzy to just tip-toe on in and gracefully lower themselves down on to his lap.

And not surprisingly, being away from the bsn for a bit hasn't made me any less of pervert. ;)

Given the speed at which the thread has been coming lately, we'll be at page 3000 in no time! To the people are who writing fic and drawing art just for 3000, how are you all doing? :S I've got a vague plan for a short fic, but I haven't even started writing it.

Ooo. I hadn't known people were doing such a thing. Is there a required theme or some such? x3
I, having been unawares, obviously haven't started anything either, but I think I might finally take part in such a thing now that all the romance news is out. That last bit might not make any sense to anyone else ...

I believe the theme everyone decided on was "The Man Behind The Soldier." :)
