Why don't we have a catchphrase? I mean I get we're Cullenites and stuff, but the other threads are getting cool catchphrases like 'Ride The Bull', 'Climb The Wall', 'Get Cosy With Josie', 'Tap That Cass'.

Maybe because catch phrases are a little bit lame... Anyhoo, that's why I personally haven't added one to the thread title. We have enough trouble with folks taking us seriously...

No, no cooties!  Nothing like cooties anywhere near Cullen!  No way!  I really, really don't want another "doomed" romance.  It's why I'm leery of Blackwall, mind you.  I keep thinking, "That dude has I'm-going-to-die-before-this-game's-done written all over him."  And I'm a huge sucker for "happily ever after" insipidness in my romance stories, sigh.

Agree. We're not exactly a homogeneous group. The lion thing personally bugs me to no end.

Well,  I don't take any fandom here seriously, per se, catchphrase or no. I'm good to go, with or without one. But Serenai's catchphrase generator that recycled old advertising slogans- "Lion- It's What's for Dinner!" is delightfully absurd to me, and I can't stop laughing.

If there's really a need for a catch phrase, can I humbly submit "Came for the Cullen, stayed for the company"? It's been something we've rocked on our Cullen banners since way back.

This may be a weird time to bring this up, but it does remind me of a concern I've had: when the game drops in a few months (eeeee!!) this whoooole thread will change from one where Cullen fans who are excited about him come together, to one where ANYONE who has played the game and has something they want to say about Cullen will come to put their thoughts on the table.

It won't always feel like a big happy family in here anymore, and we've no right to shut anyone out who doesn't share our enthusiasm. So just... I hope we can all be mentally prepared for those changes, mentally prepared for some of us to even be shocked or let down by what the writers may choose to do with him, and also prepared to be perfectly decent to the horde of new faces and new (or old) opinions we'll be inundated with before long.

It's easy for me to feel a sense of group ownership over this place because it's been just we very committed fans for five years now, but that won't stop the very strong fan reaction now that he's such a big deal. :/

Please don't feel that way.  Lots of folks seem to like the nicknames, just...maybe just leave "Official" off of whatever ya'll do.

 

We're a *very* diverse bunch-we feel lots of different ways about lots of different things, and the word "Official" kind of seems like something 100% of us would have to agree to.

 

And that's not going to happen about ANYTHING except that we all like Cullen. *Smile*

 

So, please, in my opinion, carry on, just don't say things like "official", if that makes sense.

I don't think it's anything like that! *hug*

It's just that we have a really diverse group of fans and getting everyone to agree to one thing that makes them comfortable is like herding cats XD About the only thing we all agree on is Cullen, and even then we have very different interpretations of him and reasons for liking him. And the place is naturally going to be flooded with people who don't. I think about DannyBoy and deuce, the original Cullen fanboys who are both into the ladiez and would def belong to the non-canoodling category, for instance.

I'd like a library of fun phrases much more, but no one wants you to feel stifled or unappreciated!

I'm sorry I made you feel that way! I tend to be a little terse on my phone, so mea culpa for not being more diplomatic.

There's nothing wrong at all with throwing around ideas. Or even seeing which ideas the folks who participate in your poll like more.

But as the others have said far more eloquently than I, when words like 'official' get thrown around it starts to get under people's skin. We're a very diverse group with very little official anything... Outside of this thread.
