Gotta love a manly man with a plan. ![]()

I copied you and went back to watch this and the other trailers... I shouldn't have cause it's made me more impatient ![]()
It made me wonder though if they're going to do a trailer of the other companions, they did one for Blackwall, Sera, Iron Bull and Viv (stand together trailer), why not for the rest? even advisors?
Admittedly I was (and still am) a little disappointed that he's not a companion because I like the idea of the LI bonding and growing feelings for the protagonist whilst they're out on the road adventuring together. That being said, we still don't know how much input or screen time the Advisors actually get, let alone how their approval system works.
According to the devs the advisors content both romantically and story wise is the same as the companions, but I can't say I'm entirely sold on the idea of his (and Josephine's) romance arcs taking place solely within the Skyhold. I guess there is some solace in knowing that occasionally the advisors do pop-up during certain quests and will fight with us for a short period (like that Redcliffe quest), but whether or not his/her romance/feelings for the Inquisitor come into play in those quests (if you're romancing/pursuing them them at the time) remains to be seen... I would hope that, if it was Cullen being torture like Leliana was in that scene then, if you're actively pursuing a relationship with him, as you cut him down you'd at least get to hug him or have some sort of exchange pertaining to the fact that they have feelings for each other like "thank the Make you're alive, I thought I'd lost you" or words to that effect.
How do you feel about it?
Yeah, I get that. I kinda get the feeling that romancing advisers vs. romancing companions isn't gonna be quite the same? How could it.
Although I don't really have any strong feelings about this either way, it does seem peculiar that someone like Cullen would be an adviser instead of a companion. Maybe they thought it would be easier to implement his romance that way or whether or not they were planning to make him romanceable in the first place. Who knows? Maybe he can be a temporary companion for certain key quests. We'll see what happens.
In one of trailers there was scene where Leliana got captured. So I imagine Cullen might have some scenes as well where he's on mission. He won't be playable companion but I doubt he'll be in Skyhold all the time
But the brandy.

As happy as I was that we got a good glimpse of Cullen in a trailer, I'd like to see and hear Josephine next. We know virtually nothing about her as an adviser, especially compared to Cullen and Leliana, only a hint from her VA about how she'll sound, and not really much more about how she'll move and behave.
He wasn't planned as a romance and was added during the year's delay.
I don't think of advisor romances as lesser. If Cullen intrigues me in game, I'll romance him. If not, I won't.
But the brandy.
Maybe he can take some lyrium brandy with him in a pocket-flask ![]()
We'll get it when the sun rises in the west and sets in the east.
I ran out of likes, so...
LIKE!
I thought I heard somewhere that Cullen will join you on quests pertaining his own personal arc?
That's been implied for the advisers, or at least on particular missions. In the one trailer where he appears next to Morrigan, they obviously aren't in Skyhold, but how much interaction we'll have is more up in the air.

If he does come on quests that are connected to him, he might have some romance dialogue.
I sure hope so. Though I admit I can see him as the one person who'd be worried about being "professional" in public, sigh. On the other hand, there are ways of saying affectionate things without being obvious too.
Don't forget about things like Alexius.
Not sure if anoyne has posted this one, yet.

The one thing that worries me about sending Cullen to Redcliffe...didn't the devs say it would harm the relationship between you and whoever you sent?
I think that depends upon how it turns out. He would not necessarily get tortured I don't think.
I'm actually inclined to send Josephine.
And vaguely concerned my Inquisitor is getting self-inserty.

Spoiler
lol! this is great.
I'm sure this question has already been asked—I can't be bothered go through hundreds and hundreds of pages for the answer—but what do you think about Cullen being an advisor? It seems that it means that he can't accompany the PC on their journey. Even though he's romanceable, it just means that he's hanging back in Skyhold sipping on lyrium-laced brandy, while you're out on a grand adventure to save Thedas w/ your ragtag band of [mostly] sexually attractive misfits, becoming legends in the process.
Sure, you'll be able to bang him whenever you need to come back to Skyhold for some official business in between quests, but he doesn't really partake directly in the journey; no bonding under fire sort of thing or romantic puns as you both heartily laugh in the face of death as an army of demons spawn out of the sky around you.
I like the idea of it. It's a nice flip of the old "Honey, I'm home" thing- I hope to return from a grand adventure to see Cullen in a frilly apron, pacing back and forth in the castle kitchen, metaphorically wringing his hands with worry. When I walk in, he needs to drop the giant pot roast he was tending, and burst into tears, saying, "I was worried sick!" Something to remind me of a 1950's TV series, you know? ![]()
Actually, it saves me from my own hidebound tendencies to nearly always include my love interest in my party, just in case there was some one time banter opportunity.

That's a must. It may even protect him from an arrow, but at the cost of his lyrium brandy, after which it'll only be a matter of time before he starts to act, um, silly. Then you'll have to make an important choice as to what to do w/ him, and whatever you choose will affect your standing w/ him.

Well, it can shape the relationship depending on what the outcome is. Apparently what happens to one Advisor in there may not happen to another, and depending on the actions you took prior to that event things can take drastically different paths.

Well, that extra year extension allowed them to implement Cullen and Solas' romance-arcs (among many other things) so I guess he was just gonna be like Leliana prior to that.

All the advisors will probably take different approaches to Redcliffe. Cullen might try an armed assault and might try to blockade the castle and send your team in.
Josie might try to...parley with the Venatori, though I sure as hell am not taking that approach. These guys need to be taken down, and fast. No room for diplomacy.

Yeah, I bet Cullen and Josie won't even have the same torture scene as Leliana, if at all.

Yeah Cullen won't be tortured because he would've already killed all of the Vehatori by himself.
