Its a shame Cassandra gave up her claim to the throne.

She is apperantly the last Pentaghast who is still in good health and probably able to produce heirs.

There are other members still much closer to the throne than her. It's just that the closest two candidates either don't want the job or are in bad health.

Knowing the retcon of Alistair's parentage...what background do we think our favourite noodle comes from?

I was thinking of his parents being a couple similar to Ser Aveline and Ser Wesley....rather than an orphan (angst) or royalty (Alistair and Sebastian have pretty much exhausted that)

I think Leliana, Cullen, or Josephine will go if you choose one, but it may depend on how much resource or people you send with them that depends on the outcome. If it still ends with them being captured , perhaps how prepared you are might make a difference? If you were really prepared maybe it doesn't hinder the relationship?

I would be super okay with a simple, angst-free "ordinary Chantry orphan" background. Raised in the Chantry, no parentage known, too old and lived through too much to care about something so inconsequential in the grand scheme of things anymore. We've had "noble hiding under Chantry rank" with Alistair, Sebastian, Cassandra and Evangeline already, I'd be fine with Cullen just being a Joe nobody.

 

That he started out an average, dime-a-dozen temple kid recruit and rose through the ranks fast through determination and unwavering devotion to the Order alone speaks well of his personality too. I like that humble, hard working Noodles. I don't wanna lose him to Secretly Orlesian Prince Cullèn du Ponce de Smelly Cheese.
