This is also what I would think. Regardless of where he is or to whom he is loyal, he just doesn't really seem cut out for the Game. I would expect him to eschew something so underhanded and fraught with dishonesty and manipulation.

Totally agree.

And to the poster above who mentioned the Divine as being one of the greatest players, do remember that Dorothea was a Revered Mother who came to power through somewhat unclear and possibly nefarious means, and if I recall correctly she might have had bard training as well. But regardless, I would believe Cullen would find her playing the Game as a necessity, not out of simple desire to play it.

No, I actually do like Greagoir :) He has interesting dynamics, opposite of what we usually see. If you check out the first Dragon Age comic, Greagoir is terrible to mages in the beginning! But he gets softer as years go by, and in DA:O it looks like they are friends with Irving. I mean, they still plot against each other during the origin (actually, Irving does that, Greagoir doesn't), but after the Broken Circle Greagoir is really happy to see Irving alive, and accepts his word as a proof that they are not blood mages. And if you annul the Circle, Greagoir gets depressed and quits. I think he used to be a very ardent templar, but after living near mages for years, he realized that they are people too. I don't defend him, but I like that he's not a blind zealot.
Greagoir lets the Warden inside the Tower not because he doesn't want to do anything himself, but because the Warden insists that they can't wait, and Greagoir must wait for the Rite of Annulment. He can't just walk in and murder everyone (like Meredith does). And he doesn't have enough men for that.
Greagoir was also the only one who tried to help Cullen. Sure, he told him to shut up first, but they all were very stressed after the abomination business. And later Greagoir sends Cullen to a quiet village to recover, and that apparently helps :)

So this is all friendly debate and I don't want to sound aggressive at all! :) also it's a little long and maybe confusing because I'm groggy lol!

You know the more I think about it If I remember correctly he actually thinks everyone is dead right? (It's been a while since I played!) So his going in would be a moot point!
However it's pretty lame after following Irving's orders and helping him discovery that one of his chantry sisters is subversive he is still aggressive towards the Mage character like it's his or her fault. Which...I mean we did help break Jowans phylactery so I get part of his anger lol! But it's also important to recall that Irving schemes in this manner because he already knows Greagoir won't listen to him about the chantry sister. These guys have been working together a long time and Irving is probably used to Greagoir giving his people the benefit of the doubt and not the mages. In truth Irving doesn't have nearly the power Greagoir does and may actually have to I ploy slightly underhanded schemes to achieve safety for his students because of the power discrepancy.

While it's great that after the Broken Circle quest he was happy to see Irving and that he trusted him, he let his feelings cloud logic.
For example if you were a demon and Greagoir asked you in Irving's body "Are you possessed?" Of course you would say no! He just blindly trusts someone he's never met before and their rag tag group of followers OR the kid who helped a blood Mage escape and their rag tag group of followers! Along with a man who automatically has a good chance of being possessed by his very nature of being a Mage and not another templar who saw everything first hand?
Also, on a different note I do have an argument about sending away Cullen as well. I would think that going someplace quiet would definitely help Cullen but we don't know what Greagoirs actual feelings and thoughts behind that action were. Mostly we've only seen his anger towards Cullen for raising very difficult, but also VERY good points about how dangerous the mages could be. So after the events we know that Cullen was upsetting the mages and probably far more likely to disagree with his commander at that time. Sending him away was probably to get him out of his hair, and when that wasn't as effective as he had hoped he later sent Cullen away to a terrible place for recovery, Kirkwall. This is a place known for having tons of blood mages, an extremist Templar leader and a general hate for Fereldans. If you want Cullen to grow and become a better Templar OR heal you shouldn't send him to a place where he will constantly reface trauma and be lead by someone who is so clearly opposed to treating mages fairly, only furthering his feelings of anger, anxiety and fear.
The other argument I've heard is he sent him to Kirkwall so Cullen could actually have a chance to advance in his career, where in the tower Greagoir knew he wouldn't promote him because of their dissimilar views on mages . If this is true, Its also a poor decision on his part because he is failing the mages in Kirkwall by letting a man who fears and dislikes them go to a place he will likely be given a position of much greater power over them. So either way he both damaged Cullen AND those he was sworn to protect. If you believe in leniency to a point and don't think mages should be treated too unfairly why would you ever allow someone the ability to ascend in rank elsewhere if you don't believe he is deserving of it in your own command? Now I understand Cullen is only one person and Greagoir was probably stressed as it was trying to rebuild the tower but many things were not executed well on his part.

So I checked it out and Greagoir did actually think everyone was already dead and the warden was all "I'll save the day!" Or "They will be when I get through with um!" Oh I Also wanted to ask, what's that comics name? I'd really like to read it! :)
AND FUN FACT that I never knew.

According to the DA wiki- Note: Originally, if the Warden was a blood mage, Wynne would report her suspicions to the templars. This was removed from the final game, but an unofficial patch is available to replace the scene for the PC version: it is a smaller optional file available under the larger "Dialogue Tweaks" patch. The Warden can admit to this and end up being forced to fight both the Mages and Templars present. However, with a high enough persuasion the Warden can tell them it is "Grey Warden magic", which First Enchanter Irving eventually accepts, allowing you to keep your chosen allies for the final battle.

Cool right? I never knew that planned on addressing if your warden was a blood mage! :D

Agree. I think if he were to learn Dorothea had been a bard, I would expect that to change his opinion of her as opposed to his opinion of the Game itself.

This. I can't see him giving The Game the time if day outside of being annoyed if/when it proved a detriment to his goals/orders.

No, he wrote Garrus and, I THINK, Wrex... It's been a while, so don't quote me on that. He wrote Mordin in ME2 and 3 as well.

I'd like to just say that when Sheryl says she'll let Cullen's writer out him or herself if they want to, I don't think it necessarily means she's denying that she writes him -- only that she'll own up to it if and when she means to if that's the case.

I don't trust that sneaky Sheryl, and neither should you. ;)

Could be. My money's still on not her, tho. There are lots of other ways she could've said, "we're not telling." DG says it all the time.

Do we know who all the writers are for DAI?

Sheryl, Luke, Patrick, David, Mary, Hepler (who wrote a plot line and follower before she left).....

These are the major ones that I know of...I know they also have some smaller writers as well.

That brings back memories. I was very involved in that whole "Hold the line" "Take back Mass Effect" thing... I don't know whether to be embarrassed or proud, LOL! On the plus side, that whole fiasco is how I ended up finding the Cullen thread!

Sounds pathetic now, but I distinctly remember saying that DAI would be the last BioWare game I'd ever play if it turned out to be sh!t, lol. I recall ranting about a few embarrassing things regarding the whole ME3 ending(s) 'n' stuff.

I don't think I could leave the fandom now, if I tried!
