I wonder if maybe we have the ME3 endings to thank for how amazing DAI is shaping up to be?

I think so. I think that part of the problems with the endings stemmed from a discrepancy in what BW believed the fans wanted ("speculation for everybody") and what many of us actually wanted (closure). Of course, other factors such as lack of time contributed. Sure, there was plenty of nerdraging, but the endings also opened up a discussion about what the fans wanted in (and expected from) a game.

I get the feeling that they've really, really tried to listen to the fans after ME3 and DA2. We know that they're not rushing DA:I, and it's also clear that they're trying to adress some of the criticisms from DA2. I think they're doing all they can to make DA:I absolutely awesome, and I'm positive it will be.

It seems like such a huge plot line for it to just not exist at all, though, doesn't it? That's why I was thinking maybe she found another Grey Warden to sleep with. Of course, if she had, then your warden or Alistair would not have made the ultimate sacrifice and died, so I guess that theory really doesn't work.

Makes me wonder if they're secretly kicking themselves about it, lol.

I have a feeling that this OGB will eventually bite us in the arse....

I've always hoped that if Alistair done the dark ritual then the kids personality would be exactly like his and irritate the hell out of Morrigan with his daft humour!

You know, I have that feeling too. I've even thought about going back to kill off my Warden (or Alistair) just to prevent the dark ritual. It felt like a pretty good decision at the time ("Yay, I don't have to die! And my BF doesn't either!") but boy...that will come back to bite.

So long as it doesn't go all Final Fantasy where he doesn't know he's a old god... then suddenly he does and ends up as a summon or switches from behaving like a normal person to some wise old sage, LOL!

Knowing Morrigan? I'm kind of banking on it. I just hope they make it distinctly different from the dark ritual if only for the sake of newness. But I really do think her use of the eluvian and concerns about Flemeth will play a role in what's going on, for sure. I'll be sad if not!

On that note a digression: do you think it would have been as easy to convince Cullen to do the dark ritual as it was Alistair? I, for one, think he would have refused, for better or worse.

I don't think there is anyway to get Cullen to do dark ritual ^^ Ancient magic to make child who is old god? And it involves sex with apostate? I doubt he'd ever do that.

Bite some of you in the arse.  :P

Okay, fine, he'll bite my ass, too, a couple of times. Most of the time. Two-thirds of the time.

BAH.

Hoping for some Cullen news soon -- not just because I NEEEEED it, but for the sake of this "we've run out of Cullen stuff to talk about" thread!   :?

There's only so many times I can bounce between NPC and Companion before I get a headache.

Since I have already decided that my Inquisitor will be an elven archer-type, and this little blurb wouldn't shut up, I'm going to leave it here (in all its completely unedited, stream-of-consciousness, poorly worded glory) for one of you talented people to take it and run with it. :D (Or to say, 'Gack, that's bollocks.' Or whatever. *grin*)

She went to the stream to fill her water jugs before they set off for the day. Traveling rough, as they were doing, had a sort of routine that made thinking about why they were doing it a little less horrifying.  As she topped the small rise before the stream, she saw Cullen sitting on a rock, balancing a bowl of water on his lap while he shaved.
She watched for a few moments, silently. Damn, he was handsome. Distant, but handsome.
She spoke, as she approached, so as not to startle him into soaking himself on accident.
"I could warm that water for you."
"No." He looked sharply at her, then lowered his gaze quickly. "I, erm, rather enjoy shaving in the cold water. It...it's bracing."
The inquisitor shrugged lightly. "As you wish."
She filled her bottles in silence, and as she walked back to the camp, she thought that she would give a lot of coin to know who had made him so afraid of magic.

We'd had to do it the old fashioned way and use a turkey baster.

I've always wondered what the statistics were for DAO's ending: how many players went with the DR and how many refused?

Regardless, I doubt the DR plot will be TOO important, honestly: isn't the canon BW warden a Dalish elf who makes the ultimate sacrifice?

I was hoping not to give in to the temptation to post this as a WIP, but since it's a slow Cullen news day, here is a fanart I'm working on from the rushed sketch I put up the other day (with censored swearing at myself as I learn how to use the stupid tablet)...

*snip gorgeous WIP*

Love his eyes! :D I can't wait to see it finished. :D

Regarding the Dark Ritual and Cullen - that is a different story but for Alistair and me....

If I loved Alistair and wanted him to live and be King.... I would want him to do the ritual. Sex without love doesn't threaten me, considering the purpose here. Alistiar as King would do his best to support the vulnerable - Elves and mages. That noble cause may be a tad more important than my pride....

There is no way that an Alistair who loved me, would let me take the killing blow... and there is no way I would let him do it - so the ritual is the only way. Sucks eh?

"Canon"
Also I think it was specifically designed so as any newcomers aren't bombarded with too many factors they haven't heard of from choices they never made. So it'll have less content to be less intimidating. So there'll be no Warden in their game because she's dead, they'll be no OGB, because no one would shag Morrigan, and I think the Anvil is also destroyed so there's no new golems being made.

While we're talking about Morrigan and the OGB, I have a tangentially related question: did the Devs say if the other kind of baby Morrigan can possibly have is canon, too? Or, not canon, but, possible in-game? Er. Can my Warden get Morrigan pregnant not from the Dark Ritual, and is it possible that kid will show up in DAI?

Oh my God that was harder to word than I thought it would be.

On Cullen and the Dark Ritual: I think he'd be harder to convince, but maybe only if you were in a relationship with him. Played up the "I might die" card. Don't tell him about the baby or the Old God soul. I think you could talk him into it, but only if your Coercion skill was tip-top.

That certainly makes sense, yes.
