Amusingly, I've heard it occasionally used by people in the South of the UK as well. I often use it whenever I talk to my cats.
I had no idea. I thought it was one of our unique peculiarities. ![]()

I'm a tad late to the "I'm from...." and "sweetpea" convo, lol! I'm from Ohio so I'm not from the South but my state does have great bipolar weather....hail one moment, sunshine the next. So I don't really have an accent either....I just sound different compared to say people from Boston or from the South...or anywhere else....lol! At least I don't think I have an accent X3

Well, you probably do, just not a strong or hard to understand one. Mine confuses people just a little because I've moved around over the years, plus intentionally tried to train myself out of most of it for work (Appalachian hillbilly doesn't reassure employers of your technical competence for some reason). My original accent usually only escapes me when I'm tipsy.
Uhm, hi there all, I think this is the first time I de-lurk here and I'd like to ask something from the Cullen thread if you Don't mind ^^v
Do you think there will be any difference in the romance arc between Lavellan/Cullen and Trevelyan/Cullen like with what they did to the Alistair Romance ? (Only HN gets to be Queen while the rest ended up being a Mistress *yuck* or a break up >.< ouch)
Reason is, since I plan to run my first PT romancing the ex-Templar, I hate to have to lovingly craft my Dalish FemQuisitior, play the game carefully and only to have my heart crushed by mid-game just because I didn't roll a 'human', LoL. Which would be pretty sucky IMO.
I prefer to be spoiled senselessly to avoid major heartbreak later on, LoL
Thanks
I'm pretty sure they've said there won't be noble/royal marriages this time (but I may be wrong). However, I could see issues for a Lavellan/Cullen romance post-finale - I think a couple of us were discussing that a few pages back actually. Cullen's Andrastrian, a Lavellan would presumably follow the Dalish creators. And unless the Inquisition itself continues, where would they live? A Dalish clan is very unlikely to accept a human, especially a Templar. A Dalish may find it almost as uncomfortable living in one of the human-controlled lands, especially if she's a mage. But I can't see Cullen breaking it off for Alistair-type reasons (the only reason I never held it against him was that it was pretty obvious if you made him become king, he was going to accept a noble marriage to get an heir because it was part of the job, so to speak). Which was the reason my Dalish romance was the only time I put Anora on the throne alone. Since I couldn't see my Dalish warden becoming his mistress, it was the only way they could stay together.
They promised more reactions regarding race and class, so my bet is a human and an elven romance will be at least a little different. But I doubt they would repeat what they did in DAO. (And people always seem to forget the "both stay Grey Wardens" outcome.)
Anyway, I'm really excited about my elven rogue + Cullen game. Also, this mistress talk reminded me how much of a champ Zevran was about staying with my human Wardens who married Anora and Alistair. The way he says he loved a royal scandal was priceless ![]()

There haven't been any real hints on this so far. Just speculation about potential obstacles. I agree with the others that I'd expect something more balanced this time, especially since only two races can romance him. Of course... I wouldn't put it past Bioware to have both the human and elf romance end game be bumpy, instead of just one! But my gut says we'll have happy-ish endings available for both.
(*cough* strategy guide *cough* that's what I'm doing!
)
You know...I just had a thought of Cassandra and Cullen flirting with one another even though Cullen and the Quizzy are in a romance or near a romance state...and here is what I think one of my IQ's would do!
All I have to say that....I think the flirting would end then, lol!
Thanks for the reply, Tishina ^^ gives me many things to think about on my plans for my first PT..
I guess what I'm looking for is the 'optimum setting', which race/class that would better suit this romance or one that will lead to a happy(er) conclusion. I thought about RogueTrevelyan/Cullen pairing, but I'm just dying to play as a Dalish Mage \(^o^)/ finally.
-Sigh- DAI.. So many things to consider, decisions.. Decisions.. (am not complaining though ^^v)
Hi there, I'm not sure you know but you could still pursue a romance with Alistair if you are not a HN and marrying him or if you don't want to be his Mistress. Just keep him in the Grey Wardens and that will continue the romance, sure he won't be king which sucks but I consider this option being better than your GW being his mistress.
Open up the strategy guide? And spoil yourself for the game? Nah I much rather jump into the DAI blind, It'll make for a more satisfying experience.
On chaste vs. celibate, again, FWIW, I do think the devs use them interchangeably. David Gaider describes Chantry priests as "celibate" while the Jennifer Hepler short story about Sebastian has him lament, "Princes aren't meant for chastity" about having to take vows.
In any event, I hope we get some kind of closure one way or another for anyone who romanced him. The mentions for rivalmancers in the DLCs were slim pickins. *sniff*
Btw and thanks to all that has answered my questions. I guess I will go with R2's Muse.. Open up the strategy book before I open up the game =D LoL.
I wonder when will those guide book be available? Will there be a downloadable version as well? Hmn.. Better start checking..

Nice thing about the romances is that someone will transcribe the romance section within about two seconds of the guide coming out (on Nov 18). That's what I used for DA2, thanks to some kind soul here on BSN, since there was NO way I was going to be blindsided again like my poor City Elf first DA:O playthrough. Romance spoilers are my favorite kind! ![]()

Is being a mistress really so bad? It offers all the benefits of a relationship with Alistair without the demands of the throne or having to worry about producing a child. People have those kind of open relationships all the time.
Briala seemed to enjoy her role in The Masked Empire. Just saying.

I don't know, I'm planning on avoiding spoilers and that'll probably mean desperately avoiding the internet for the three days before it comes out in Europe, while the US players are already knee-deep in Cullen wooing, Cass-tle storming or riding the Bull.
Hopefully I'll not go through internet withdrawal too badly.

I understand why people wouldn't like it, but mistress to Alistair as sole king is my female DAO canon and it often seems I'm pretty alone in selecting that xD Not only that, but people talk about it as a non-option /shrugs To each their own. It was certainly nicer because my PC brought it up while human Wardens who became king or queen seemed to just expect their LIs to go with it without discussing it first.

...and 200 game play hours later... LOL It's gonna be rough. While I embrace romance spoilers, I also want to avoid story spoilers. I even try to literally skim obvious proper nouns in the romance spoilers, searching for "LEAVES YOU IF..." and the like. I actually expected Fenris to literally leave my party for good at the end of Act 2 based on my skim reading. LOL

My city elf and Alistair still lived happily ever after as Wardens, so it was still good. But that was only after reading the spoilers after the fact and doing some meta gaming. Dealing with complicated dual-career couple issues isn't something I want from my videogame life. ![]()
edit for ToP: Speaking of dual-career couples... ![]()

Oh, absolutely. My dwarven commoner was perfectly fine with it since it's respectable in dwarven culture (and I thought it was funny having the Brosca sisters attached to two different kings). And my elven mage and my CE who romanced Alistair married Alistair off to and Anora and were completely upfront with Anora about the relationship. But my Dalish and my dwarven noble were too proud to go that route. The noble cheerfully shook hands with Alistair; while she'd been fond of him, she wasn't exactly head-over-heels either. She went back to camp and struck up a romance with Zevran-nothing like openly taking an assassin back to Orzammar with you to discourage intriguers, and not exactly easy for the Crows to blend in there.

I wouldn't mind it so much if the DR wasn't a follow up. As it is I pretty much went into the "oh screw all of this I'm romancing Leliana. This is too much BS." mode.
The mistress ending by itself is awesome though. I usually marry Alistair to Anora when I'm doing it. I had a HN mistress mostly because she wanted the freedom that it offered. My Surana and Tabris both enjoyed having the ear of royalty as well as the power that came with it as well.
Edit: But hell I marry hardened Alistair to Anora regardless unless I'm on one of my puppet king characters and I only have 2 of those.
