SO uh.... we're 50 pages from 3000.... maybe we should start talking about it?

Me too. I enjoyed the original tattoos (I swear I sometimes feel like the only person who created a HN with face tattoos and still married Alistair in DAO, because Fereldan needed a barbaric queen that freaked out the Orlesians...).

I was always a bit puzzled by the tattoos in DA:O. I liked that I could choose one if I so desired, altho, I rarely found one that worked for me. It wasn't til later I learned they were a Dalish thing, and then I was puzzled as to why anyone could choose to have them. So... I guess I'm glad that the purely Dalish vallesin would be limited to the Dalish, but I'd hope they'd have non-Dalish options for those that just want some variety (like my awesome Norn tattoos from GW2!).

Ah but I hope they haven't scratched the original vallaslin and traded them all for these vague tribals we're seeing now. The old tattoos had a lot of meaning, you could recognize the elven deities behind each one, and that they covered the face spoke of their importance to an elf willing to commit to the culture. These new ones are just kinda... generic scribbles.

 

I mean, fine, scribbles for those who don't care for Dalish culture, but I'll be très upset if they just trashed all the old tattoos too.

 

I have no idea why people were upset about the required tattoos, I always thought that the Dalish tattoos were really awesome to look at, even if someone of them were not as great as others. These new tribal ones actually look worse because unlike the old tattoos, you can't see any part of Dalish culture in them and they instead come across as just meaningless scribblish?

 

Hopefully we'll be allowed the old ones as well.

I have no idea why people were upset about the required tattoos

Because I don't like restrictions being placed on what is supposed to be "my" character. Having the tattoos be mandatory immediately makes the Dalish Inquisitor Pro-Dalish, eliminating roleplaying options.

The irony of that statement, seeing as how Frostbite supposedly hates mods!  Nevertheless I am at least hoping for some facial tweaks.

I just want to get my hands on DA:I...but then again I know we have to wait so it can be all the more flawless so...it's a fight between desire and logic.

 

So I decided to create another DA:O character and I was wondering what exactly being Alistair's mistress entails? There are a lot of conflicting statements, I know that she may not be Queen but I was wondering if one chooses to have Alistair to rule alone would he take a wife or rule alone with the GW having him all to herself? Also I just wanted to say that one thing that has really annoyed is people saying that if the GW/Mistress and Alistair had a child then their child would NEVER inherit the throne. By normal means they would not get the throne but if they are all the only heir then they do inherit the throne this has been done throughout history and hell even Alistair is a bastard so that whole thing is just kind of making me a little crazy, lol!

Folks have been talking about. Right now, it looks like we're doing about 7-10 pages, so ideally we won't hit Page 3000 til the weekend. 

 

We should probably sound off, tho, with who will be contributing. As a reminder:

 

1. It can be anything so long as it's Culleny. Fic, photo manips, banter, recipes, art, etc.

2. If it's longer than about 500 WORDS, post it elsewhere and link.

3. Beware NSFW. Links only, with warnings. (inside spoiler tags don't count)

4. No chatter on Page 3000, just celebration. You can congratulate and comment once we hit 3001. 

5. If you won't be around, let me know and I'll save you a spot.

I can understand the reaction to feeling forced to have them. But the tattoos are also supposed to be a rite of passage to adulthood among the Dalish. Without them, you aren't an adult, and I can't quite imagine the Keeper sending someone considered a child on a dangerous mission? From the look of the male elf, they can be basically invisible, at least. Myself, I'm still sad I can't have a city elf, but I'm assuming there's a good story reason we have to be Dalish.

There were or at the very least each race had a few tattoos of their own with all the others.

Mmmm, I dunno. The ones I could pick for my human always looked awfully Dalish to me... but I never compared them in detail. So I could be wrong that they're the same!

There was 4 types of tattoo ranges in DAO

 

Andrastrian Human/Elf(available to Circle Mage, City Elf, and Human Noble)

Casteless Dwarf

Dalish Elf

Noble Dwarf

I may not be an amazing artist, but I can write! Although I don't think I would have any fic up for the weekend since I have school and other activities.

And yet not all adults wear them. Prime example: Gheyna. She is an adult considering that she calls Cammen a child(and Lanaya only says he is a child rather than both if you get them together) and yet her face doesn't have Vallaslin.

It better be a good reason. There is a thread about it and so far there are more reasons why they should be City Elf rather than Dalish Elf.

They really have never said how it works out, but in DA2, if the warden is his mistress, at the end of his meeting with Hawke, he says something to Teagan about not telling the queen that you-know-who (the Warden) is back in Denerim. I don't know if this applies whether or not he's married to Anora. There's no reason a child of the two couldn't inherit the throne if there's no other heir and the child isn't a mage, but I think they also make it extremely clear that two wardens having a child is almost impossible (assuming Alistair had his facts right). My bet has always been that if Alistair is married to the Warden or Anora (both unlikely to produce a child), he'll end up finding a bastard of Cailan's to name heir (Anora tells you that Cailan had a lot of women, what are the odds there isn't at least ONE child somewhere?)
