Did you mean 500 pages or 500 words?
LOL 500 words... The stress and lack of sleep are definitely catching up with me, it seems! dERP!

The Dalish shouldn't be spoken of in the Cullen Thread.
it demeans Cullen.
Can you draw them on him or something for me, because I really can't see them?
I can't either. I really think it just looks like the grey scale levels in the photoshopped versions.
Can you draw them on him or something for me, because I really can't see them?
I would if I could, but I don't have that steady of a hand when it comes to drawing on the computer. ![]()
That and the picture is too small. The lines I draw would cover half the face.
Folks have been talking about. Right now, it looks like we're doing about 7-10 pages, so ideally we won't hit Page 3000 til the weekend.
We should probably sound off, tho, with who will be contributing. As a reminder:
1. It can be anything so long as it's Culleny. Fic, photo manips, banter, recipes, art, etc.
2. If it's longer than about 500 WORDS, post it elsewhere and link.
3. Beware NSFW. Links only, with warnings. (inside spoiler tags don't count)
4. No chatter on Page 3000, just celebration. You can congratulate and comment once we hit 3001.
5. If you won't be around, let me know and I'll save you a spot.
I'll try my best to have my Cullen fighting close friend who has turned into behemoth* story ready for the weekend.

And yet not all adults wear them. Prime example: Gheyna. She is an adult considering that she calls Cammen a child(and Lanaya only says he is a child rather than both if you get them together) and yet her face doesn't have Vallaslin.
I saw the Male Elf pic. I can still clearly see them. So if that is the 'invisible' equivalent, I'm out of luck.
It better be a good reason. There is a thread about it and so far there are more reasons why they should be City Elf rather than Dalish Elf.
I didn't think Gheyna was strictly an adult. However, you're right about Lanaya and she's keeper at the end of that quest (depending on the ending). Interesting point!
Because I don't like restrictions being placed on what is supposed to be "my" character. Having the tattoos be mandatory immediately makes the Dalish Inquisitor Pro-Dalish, eliminating roleplaying options.
See, I never buy into this "restriction" argument.
It's a roleplaying game and you're being provided a brief backstory, so there's at least some things you have to go along with for the sake of the story. Under your argument, we wouldn't have had any Origins, since we'd no longer have the freedom to create a Human Noble who's got dark skin and is older than both Bryce and Eleanor Cousland? You certainly can and no-one is stopping you from doing so, but you're kinda breaking immersion a tad?
Having vallaslin doesn't mark you as Pro-Dalish automatically, it simply is a rite to announce that you're considered an adult. You can have a Bar-Mitzvah and then decide you want to be an unobservant Jew later in life, so why can't a Dalish Elf reject their culture and keep the tattoos? From the description of the lore, we're not like Cammen who doesn't have them because he can't hunt, since we're explicitly called a Hunter if we're a Warrior/Rogue, and as the First we'd be expected to have them?
Saying that a roleplaying mechanic limits roleplaying makes no sense to me?

(Edit for the sake of clarity: While having a set roleplaying character is somewhat restrictive, the argument that it limits roleplaying doesn't ring true for me because for me, it provides better roleplay since you're forced to really think about your pre-set character's history and motivations more, thus making the experience richer imo than having a blank slate)

I currently have a Warden doing Nature of the Beast, let me look around and see if I can find any others without the tattoos.
They really have never said how it works out, but in DA2, if the warden is his mistress, at the end of his meeting with Hawke, he says something to Teagan about not telling the queen that you-know-who (the Warden) is back in Denerim. I don't know if this applies whether or not he's married to Anora. There's no reason a child of the two couldn't inherit the throne if there's no other heir and the child isn't a mage, but I think they also make it extremely clear that two wardens having a child is almost impossible (assuming Alistair had his facts right). My bet has always been that if Alistair is married to the Warden or Anora (both unlikely to produce a child), he'll end up finding a bastard of Cailan's to name heir (Anora tells you that Cailan had a lot of women, what are the odds there isn't at least ONE child somewhere?)
When I played DA2 and imported a Warden who was solo King Alistair's mistress, the line about the queen did NOT trigger. I think it's exclusively if he's married to Anora. I guess that also means that if he isn't, he doesn't marry? Good news for my Chancellor Amell, then ![]()
I like to headcanon that when my Amell met Morrigan in Witch Hunt the "gift" was a modified version of the Dark Ritual to allow Amell to bear a child with Alistair.
My Amell considered Morrigan a friend, and forgave her for the Dark Ritual, but she was always jealous that Morrigan could have Alistair's child and she would never be able to.
I like to think Amell and Alistair have a non-mage son who is named Alistair's heir, and when he grows up he ends up adventuring with his half-brother (without knowing who he really is)

Edited: Misread original. However, I can't find anyone else without the facial tattoos and Lanaya does refer to "them" being children in my text.

Honestly DAO character designs are not reliable reference for lore. You have Dalish in positions of authority in both clans without vallaslin when the lore states they must have it, you have elves with five o' clock shadow when the lore states elves don't grow facial hair at all, etc. A lot of the minor character were probably just slapped together hastily without much thought for lore compliance.

Yeah, I felt proud when I pointed Gheyna out and everyone was like "Yeah, well...um..." ![]()
I just checked, Lanaya DOES have facial tattoos.
I never said she didn't. I said when she comments on Gheyna and Cammen getting married, she only calls Cammen a child rather than saying they are both children. Meaning that Gheyna is recognized as an adult, and yet doesn't have Vallaslin.
Fair enough
Can you describe them? Are the like the ones we saw in DAO and DA2?
If I had to choose a design from previous games that they are most like, they are actually closest to Zevran's tattoo.

Oh, thanks! I wasn't sure how that worked. Yeah, I'd like to think that was what the gift was too, though I think only my HNs and possibly my CE would have taken advantage of it. (Can a dwarf have a child with a human?)

Hmmm...I was writing a set of short fanfics with each of my three characters having them explain themselves to Cullen, Cassandra, and Leliana. It was meant to be a character study for me to highlight my PCs' differences in perspective to the events and the NPCs they might meet in the game. Would that be Cullen-y enough, or would I need to add lots more Cullen to the mix, you think?
Otherwise, I'll just sit back and enjoy everyone else's work. ![]()
(Can a dwarf have a child with a human?)
Yes! Half-dwarves apparently look like tall dwarves (or short humans!)
And since dwarves have extremely low fertility to begin with, a modified Dark Ritual that would guarantee pregnancy would be especially meaningful to a dwarf Warden.
What does page 3000 mean?

A Dwarf can have a child with a human, but the human genes are always dominant in either case.
The OGB for example, will always human because of Morrigan, despite being technically half-Dwarf or half-Elf.
The irony of that statement, seeing as how Frostbite supposedly hates mods!
Nevertheless I am at least hoping for some facial tweaks.
TBQH while I acknowlege everything that is fantastic about mods, after what has been done to character designs for both DAO and DA2, I 10000% support the motion that Dragon Age fandom should never, ever, ever be allowed near mods again. I can live without the Dragon Age equivalent to Frostfall if it means I will never need see White Vivienne, Blonde Dorian, More Beautiful Josephine, More Feminine Cassandra, Straight Sera, Younger Sexier Half-Naked Genderbent Solas'si, etc.
Not to mention the way modders have been going in nearby fandoms lately, the first thing we'd see in terms of mods would surely be bouncing breasts, and the skimpy armors to go with them, barf. I love my mods as much as the next guy, but I'd rather do without them at all than see that garbage infest this fandom too. ![]()

LOL It means the Cullen thread page 49 pages from now.
[[We usually do a celebration every major milestone. For examples, you can see links to them in one of the OPs from this and the old 2.0 thread.]]

Cool! I could see my dwarf commoner going for that since it would mean her children escaping the caste system. So, I have to ask since I have a dwarf noble with Zevran: Dwarf and elf? (I think there's been speculation about Sandal in that direction...)
