Cameron Lee said that we will end it, and probably very early into the game.

While I'm keeping in mind what he said, I still believe he might meant the mage templar war in the hinterlands. With the info we have it seems strange to me we can end the war by just resolving the conflict in Ferelden.

Ooh - I don't know why I never sided with Zathrian. I was kinda disappointed with the werewolves in the final battle. At what point did you kill Wynne? I've killed her in the Circle (thank you Morrigan  ) . I usually side with Petrice. Cheating in Origins is a lot more fun - popcorn optional.

Zathrian really isn't healthy for the elves if he lives lol

And you get the tremendous satisfaction of calling Orsino out for his part in Leandra's death. Siding with the templars in general seems to provide a richer experience.

I didn't.  I think the writers really screwed up on the final act.  There was really no point for a mage to side with the Templars to become Viscount.  It did not make sense to me from that standpoint.  For a non mage Hawke its understandable but not for a mage Hawke.

And the fact there was very little development with Orsino still angers me.     His introduction was the most jarring experience of the game for me.

At least we got an idea of who Meredith was in the beginning of Act 1.  Orsino should have had a better introduction.

A tip for roleplaying the harsher, more pragmatic choices if you're too goody good to make them otherwise: try playing a dwarf. A very angry one, with no time or patience for beeswax. The dwarf noble worked better for me on this because you come out of that origin hating everything and everyone, but the casteless one works too if you play it from the right "too tired to give a sh*t anymore" angle.

Because dwarves have no contact with magic and are generally distrustful of it, it becomes easier to roleplay those harder choices as being part of your generally magic-fearing persona. Getting mages to perform a weird ritual? No way, let's just kill this demon kid before he destroys the entire village and castle and the army you came here to get. Later in the Dalish quest, take the same angle - creepy mage using creepy magic to curse innocent people and unnaturally prolong his life? Nothing an axe to the face won't fix. Pretend the cure dialogue isn't there, you're not even giving him the chance to explain himself. Then when you go back to camp and the elves attack you, you can roleplay that, ooooh crap you only meant to kill the creepy evil mage, this has gone way worse than you planned; now you have no way out but to kill the rest of the elves before they kill you.

At the Landsmeet, recruiting Loghain becomes a whole lot easier too - you're a dwarf, your entire life beats to the drum of fighting darkspawn. You know what and how many they really are, the threat they really pose, what a difference even one more Warden in the ranks can make. Alistair still has too romantic a view of what the Grey Wardens are, but you know the ugly truth is there is no end to the spawn, and you need warriors, not legends. If you have to lose one hopeless romantic to gain one more no-nonsense sword, so be it.

If you have trouble making these choices on more balanced characters, try channeling your most angry, helplessly impotent side and taking it all out on a Warden who just doesn't care. Anything to stop the Blight, as Duncan says. It's hard to stay in character at first and not mellow out down the road, but a playthrough that is the reverse of all your usual choices can be surprisingly cathartic in the end, exploring sides of your psyche that you don't even know you have. ;)

Ok while I can see I'd have no problem with most of those as you suggest, it looks like it could work. I would stumble on chosing Loghain over Alistair. He is really a big weakness for me whether playing guys or girl lol. But the other suggestions might actually work :)

I accidentally killed him once, well Isolde did and it broke my heart...I played through to where Alistair really laid into me and it made me feel 10 times worse so I just reloaded. I never go near Eamons room anymore lol. I let Isolde do the ritual once maybe twice, but she is such a cow to Alistair she deserved it. If he isn't going to take offence at the way she treated him, I am going to have to on his behalf!

I never kill Connor. I always save Redcliffe. I can't disappoint Teagan.

I read plently of people discussing why their mages supported the templars. It can make sense.
The viscount part is bit ridicolous though, but it's Kirkwall :P.

I still remember my DN playthough where I saved Connor, but then went 'May as well go to the Circle and save him since I already let the village and all the villagers get destroyed.'

I would have loved to get Meredith's backstory, even if you side with the mages. It made the character a lot more rich in my opinion. I'd still hate her guts, but she was a really well done character. I inifinitely preferred her to Orsino.

Meredith was definitely the BETTER developed of the two characters.   Orsino's lack of development is proof at how rushed DA2 was.

I can't do it with a mage. My mages always run off and disappear with Anders.   My rogue Hawkes kill Anders.

My favorite act of DA2 is always going to be ACT 2.    It was the best presented act to me.    As much as I disliked the arishok...i respected him.    Act 3 was a jumbled mess.

it was really hard to hate on her completely after I found out what drove her into believing mages to be what they are. I still wanted to fireball her back to the maker though.   Orsino, there is just so much I wanted to do to that guy but couldn't. That was so disappointing.

Yeah I have killed Isolde a couple of times.    Most of the time I save Redcliffe, Isolde, & Connor.  I can't resist Teagan.

Teagan should have been able to give female wardens a very special thank you.

I agree on the acts. Act 3 was obviously rushed. I really liked Act 2.

I still very much dislike Meredith for abusing her powers and twisting the purpose of the Templar Order, but I find it hard to hate her too.  In fact, I find it hard to hate just about anyone in Dragon Age; they're almost all drawn with enough humanity to make me sympathize with them on some level, and that's definitely a sign of good writing.  Or I'm just an enormous softie, that's a possibility too  :D

I think David Gaider said that given more time, they would've developed Orsino better as a character.  Personally, I thought he was a sexy silver fox when we first met

Yeah there was some deleted content I read about and it really angered me.

Did you know we could have had the chance to kill Hubert after the High Dragon battle?

Also there was a quest with an older Connor/Teagan that got cut. :(

What can I say? People have preferences. If I revealed some of the characters that turned me off...I'd be bullied off the entire site.

His introduction in the Fade sequel was a huge mistake though.  I was like... "WHO IS THAT?"

I think I just ran after the brat and made an end to it  Then yes, Alistair yelled at me back at camp, but he also wasn't interested in sleeping with me, so he could stuff it lol (Though his yelling did surprise me, since I felt like I had only one of two choices, and letting Isolde do some weird blood sacrifice ritual didn't seem right.)

Yeah, especially since Alistair suggested killing Connor. And I was like "okay you were the almost-templar, you know what you're talking about", and going all the way to the Circle seemed way too risky (before I knew it doesn't really matter). Then I get back to camp and Alistair tears me a new one. I was so pissed. XD

Let's see: I don't like: Oghren, DA2 Anders, Alistair, the Dalish as a group, mages as a group
I do like: Wynne,Nathaniel, DAA Anders, Sigrun, the Architect Morrigan, Isabela, Sebastian, and Meredith

Yours can't be worse.

I never understood the deal with Teagan, to be honest.

I never found him attractive--I'm probably too shallow to deal with the dork hair and dork outfit, and cannot unsee the ridiculous jester dance--but I appreciated him defaulting to calling my Warden (who was a mage, and not yet an Arcane Warrior at that point so very obviously a mage, and as far as I knew at the time a commoner) "my Lady". Also disagreeing with the Warden's internalized self-loathing if you take those options (the whole "why would anyone marry a mage?" or whatever conversation). Obviously not being a jerk doesn't automatically make him awesome, but he generally comes off as a Stand Up Guy otherwise, and the mage thing endeared him to me personally. (None of this is new information to you, I'm sure, but there's my vote!)
