....my canon DAO Cousland still kills Conner. I **** you not, I outright cried during and after the cutscenes with Isolde and Conner, but even after finding out the Get-Circle-Help option is win-all-around I couldn't justify my character taking the risk of leaving Conner/Demon loose while I dash off on a few/several day journey to the circle and back!
RPing my Cousland it's the choice that made sense, my personal feelings aside.
Right! Even if my Dalish (who was sort of my self-insert) had known about the Circle solution, it just didn't seem a good idea to take off for several days and hope things were still okay when I got back, lol!

Like, I like her but at the same time I don't...it's complicated. >_< I guess I disagree with the demon thing, but I also respect the fact that she knows it can be dangerous and that she was willing to take the price it took. I think what Marethari did was a dick move, seriously. But I also have a strong love for my Dalish Warden, and I know she would be pissed as hell at Merrill for using the mirror. Maybe that's influencing me. XD

I also dislike Velanna, Duncan, Harrowmont, Justice (Awakening), and sorta-kinda Leliana.
But I also really love Loghain, and I've gotten some weird looks and "you gross person" because of it. XD

I can't even begin to express how thrilled I am to be FAIRLY sure that at least one - if not all - of the LIs I want to try are gonna be relatively stable! *laughs* sorry Fenris, I still like you but the angst-fest was hard to handle all the time! And Anders was a bag of crazy angst, at least Fenris was just the latter!!
I love the DA2 cast as a whole, and I think Fenris and Anders have fascinating character arcs as LIs. But if I had a dollar for every time I said "GODDAMNIT ANDERS" (or any other character) I wouldn't have to work 
Going back to ME3 Garrus after those two crazies was a nice change of pace.
You can have characters who aren't as dysfunctional as the DA2 crew and are still interesting. Fingers crossed for that in DA:I.
I don't think I really disliked any companions per se, Loghain (who I never recruited) doesn't count for me. Probably the person who came closest to rubbing me the wrong way was Velanna, but to be fair I never took her around with me much so I never really gave her a fair chance. On the other hand, I disagreed with many companions, much like I'm likely to disagree with Cullen. But that's what I like about him! I like complex characters that show character development.
I think I would have liked Velanna better if she had a better voice actor. The fact that the writers have no interest in writing her speaks volumes. She is going to be one of those characters you never hear about again.

I didn't really hate any of them... took me a while to gel with Leliana but she grew on me after I played her DLC.

See, I love her VA. Azula for the win! But Velanna IMO was a character who 1) most people recruited fairly late in Awakening and 2) didn't show character development unless you tried really, really freaking hard to be her friend. For me, she was sufficiently off-putting that I didn't even bother, and some of her characterization only comes up in her epilogue if you somehow managed to befriend her.
IMO she was a bit like Orsino. Lots of potential, but too lightly drawn to really grab my attention.

I agree. But I think she was not the right person to do Velanna. How Velanna was written and how Grey was directed...it was just over the top aggravating

My Cousland had confidence in the forces he built in Redcliffe (nobody died in the night attack).
Though part of the reason he decided to help Connor with the Circle was because he was still traumatized by what happened in his Origin (being a Warden actually saved him from madness), and he thought of his family when he saw the Guerrins.
My Cousland saw his nephew in every child that died in Redcliffe. He didn't like having to kill Connor, but he couldn't justify risking the rest of Redcliffe for a ritual that wasn't guaranteed to save one.
