I hate to think it, but I think Cullen's gonna get a lot of the flak over what happened in Kirkwall, if he even stayed w/ the templars that is. That guy doesn't need any more torturing, but I have a bad feeling that the Templars are going to putting a lot of the punishment and blame on him.

Under these circumstances,I think that two results are possible.Either he was blamed/punished or he was promoted for being able to deal with the whole situation and along with Hawke preventing the city from being burned to the ground...Although I think it's the first,mainly because he assisted Hawke who is  a rather controversial figure,for those who don't know the full story.
 

 

Whatever his romance is like, I hope there's no 'healing with love/sex' trope that happens. Supporting him is one thing, healing him with magical sex is completely different. 

 

Seeing we're dealing with older characters, though. I'm hoping for a... more mature romance? It's kind of difficult to describe what I mean. *scratches chin*

I hate the whole "healing love/sex" theme as well,so far as a character he demonstrated that he's rather strong willed,all things considering...I'd prefer it If he manages to solve his own issues by himself,like he did in DA2.

I'm probably looking too much into the tone, but this sounded frightening casual  I really really hope that if he's not a follower, his romance will be fleshed out just as well as one you can have with a companion. Cullen is hardly someone that will believably jump into bed with someone he barely knows, and honestly I'd rather not romance him if they make it something not serious. 

 

I've got a lot of faith in the writers/designers though, I don't think they would add a romance for fan service, or announce his romance alongside Cassandra's (a confirmed companion) if it were just something thrown in w/ little thought or plot.

I can't stop, but want to say again I'm super thrilled for all Cullen fans. Third game was the charm hey, works for me. Now I just have to cross my fingers he's a companion as well.

The video cuts out before ML gets to talk about the romances, but the person who uploaded it included what he had said concerning the romances and Cullen.

 

Agreed, I like the idea that he's still a bit awkward when it comes to flirting and the romantic stuff. The way Greg Ellis does his little stutter is just f*cking heartmelting!

It sounds mostly like they're joking, because they're people and can have fun too , but the phrasing (I have yet to hear it myself, what's the timestamp on that NO NEED) does lend itself to a... less important interpretation? But I'm not willing to start pulling my hair out, yet. 

 

Also, what was said in regards to the Iron Bull? - Also no need.

Dang, it definitely does not sound very reassuring. I haven't watch the vid yet so don't know in what way it was said. It almost feels like his romance is an afterthought, but everything depends on the tone. Maybe they just wanted to be a bit nonchalant and lighthearted with announcing it since they know how important it is for people.

It also makes me think about something Mary Kirby once said about how important it is for a romance arc to have a rollercoaster in it (ie. the explanation for why Varric in DA2 wouldn't have been a good romance). I think all of that  points to him being rather interesting to get to know.

I'm not too worried about Mike's quote regarding Cullen.

 

Firstly, Mike seems a bit of a joker anyway so I think he's just being lighthearted knowing how long we've wanted to romance the guy, so he's basically saying: "oh, go on then little fella you've waited long enough, go get yourself some lovin'" *Pats Cullen on the head*.

 

In regards to him saying "if you act a little awkward then that's ok" I'd say that's more in reference to how Cullen was in DA:O with the female mage Warden and again when bringing up the subject of the "young ladies" in the blooming rose. It's in his nature to be a little awkward, so if anything Mike's pretty much revealing that it's still the same Cullen we know and love, rather than turning him into a raging hussy, LOL!

On Cullen's class, I don't think he'll be a rogue.
With LadyInsanity's recent blog and clarification on IB, I'd say that it'a pretty sure that there's one spot left in the warrior department, between Cullen and GW.

I still think that he's not going to be a companion, that would just be too many warrior in the party, since the Grey Warden, Iron Bull, and Cassandra have already been confirmed as companions basically.  Unless they pull a 180 about Iron Bull and make him just an advisor, but honestly that would just be annoying since a Tal-Vasoth > another human warrior.

 

IMO he's probably just gonna be like Cortez or Samantha from ME 3.  Maybe it'll be better than those two, but Cullen won't be an actual companion.

That's what I'm hoping, and like I said I don't think they would even bother mentioning Cullen as a romance option if it wasn't something with depth. I guess I'll just feel a lot better once I know 100% what his role will be, follower, faction leader, etc

I think the Rogue item Pack DLC mentioned that Loghain was a rogue. But in DAO he is a warrior.

So there is a possibility that Cullen might be a rogue. but I feel he will be a warrior like Alistair (who can teach you the Templar specialization)

LadyInsanity clarified that Iron Bull is a two-hander, as in, two-handed sword. And she said he was a companion.

 

Grey Warden however.. he's popped up in that demo, but he hasn't been officially confirmed. So I'd say it's still up for debate.

I don't think there's enough information to make a call either way, although it does seem that, at the moment, Cullen reads more as NPC than companion. At least to me.
