So he should have been executed early on.
You believe DA2 had good storytelling? What about it was good exactly? The string of unconnected fetch quests that make up the plot? The meandering goals (run errands for money, then run errands for the Qunari, then run errands for the mages and Templars) that don't tie together? The lack of anything that makes you think? The cartoonish, hamfisted attempts to make you feel something (o noes ur mom iz a zombie!) The fact that everyone outside your party is shallow and one dimensional? The forced mages vs Templars idea that was shoved in your face by making every mage an insane psycho killer blood mage and every Templar an insane tranquil inducing rapist? Yes, I'm sure DA2 will be held up as one of the literary masterpieces of our time.
My response:
I consider DA2 a deep and complex game, It has it's flaws for sure however it made it up with its smaller more personal storyline. At first when I played it, I thought It was nothing more than just a generic fantasy game. Though as time went on I was immersed thanks to nothing more than the characters in the game. To me they were relatable, interesting and entertaining. I really felt an emotional blow when Hawke's mother died. I could go on and on, but to me I never felt attached to a story and characters from a game in a long time the way DA2 held me.
So in short yes I do think DA2 had good storytelling, you can snark at me on that, but I don't care, In I don't care if I'm the only one in this forum who likes DA2's story. It showed me a world where there was conflict, but there were no easy answers. And while the characters were flawed, I felt closer to them than I was closer to the companions in Origins. This was the game that made me a fan of the Dragon Age series and I hope DAI won't ignore anything from DA2.
Wow I've been getting nasty reviews on my fics lately all if a sudden...wth...
They're probably just jealous of your writing skills.

Well I personally enjoyed DA2's story telling more than DAO's. I think it was DA2's strong point when the things it was lacking were dungeons (obviously) and graphics at times (mostly in dungeons XD). Also I love it's character although I have seen people having problems with them too, well they are group of misfits but I like my misfits ![]()
Blah I'm emotionally drained after a long drawn out fight with Anders detractors. Do you guys feel I'm being melodramtic with this post below me? I didn't want to come out as a jerk, but I wanted to let it out and explained how I felt.*snip*
No I think you did exactly that, explain your opinion and how you feel about DA2. And you didn't criticise others opinions and feelings either

/agreed Although I think romances are better in DAO.
I still struggle sometimes to understand why people can't accept or acknowledge that other people will have different opinions/views/feelings from themselves. Having open discussions often will open up points of views that you cannot see otherwise etc... anyway, maybe I've been lucky to learn that lesson early in life.
Stress less SmilesJA, we are here for you ![]()

Well, you handled it far more eloquently than I would. I'd have just told him/her to go suck a fat one. ![]()
Sorry to my #Cullentites I filmed with @JessicaMerizan months ago. I have requested, nudged, cajoled & pestered but still nothing posted.

Aw, looks like you were diplomatic. FYI, tho, Allan has asked us not to talk about other threads and other posters like this. You might want to at the very least remove that person's name...
Hello everyone. Family drama, work and not having finished my fanfiction in time for page 3000 has resulted in my work being at least 8 pages late. I expected to be 20 pages late, so this isn't so bad! d:
I originally intended it to be 5 "Chapters" long and that each chapter would have to do with this letter, the last chapter being the letter itself. This started not happening that way and I decided not to fight it, so now the first Chapter is the letter and the story veers off into nothingness ...
<snip>
Awesome. Adding to page 3000

Oh man, this better be an actual thing or I shall be very cross, lol.
So...
After spending two hours yesterday hunting down as many DAI vids as I could to look for Cullen reference stuff for my cosplay, I'm proud to say it finally paid of. I now know that he has what I labled the 'eye shield' and a matching sword. And that his armor is silver/steel colored. The fur is black/brownish with a few red streaks.
The fabric over the chestplate is a dark brown with a red tinge, thought that red depends on the light. In sunlight appears brown.
Also I finally know what his outfit looks below belt-line.
Anyone in need of those references? I'll probably work them together in some big collage tonight.
As for the DA2 story...
I liked it. A lot.
I especially liked that 'you' finally had a family. Good and bad.
I liked how you were hunting for money and some seemingly 'unimportant' side-quests would later affect missions and gameplay.
Yes, you were somewhat enforced into certain conflicts, wether you wanted to or not. BUT! It's just like in real live. Hawke already had a name in that town so his voice had weight. Of course people would come to him and ask for his help or oppinion in hopes of swaying him to their side.
If you don't like things like these, you ought not to play rpgs. It's just like some people complaining that in ME you didn't had an option to walk away (dito for DA:O I think). That's not what the game is about. At least so far each Dragon Age game was built to make 'you' the player into some sort of legend. You can't become a legend if you don't do anything.
Back to DA2:
I think DA2 had it's problems. A lot of people were already negativily biased against it because in the first game they could pick their character from three races and had a choice between backgrounds and that was missing in the second one.
Next was they didn't really get to slowly start into the game, like in DAO, where you were playing backgroundstory first, but they were thrown right into it and before they knew it, they were already a sibling short.
There were some moments where I hated that no matter what I did I would not be able to save the whole Hawke family. But at the same time I LIKED that. Because otherwise Hawke would have seemed unbelievable to me. I would have liked some more personal touches thought.
Like the choice to have a memorial for the sibling passed away at the start of the game sometime... Inviting Gamlen (and perhaps his daughter) into their estate...
It's a thing of the past through.
I know different people will have different oppinions and just like I think certain games are crap or just not for me, others will love them and think rpgs are crap. Thus there will be some hating DA2 while others will like it or be 'meh' about it or any other variations.
Right now we ARE looking forward to Dragon Age: Inquistion thought.
At least I am. ![]()
Wether people will be happy with the story told or not is a different matter entirely and won't be able to be discussed until a few days after the game's release :3
