Well archers in DA2 could use "assassinate" ... they just shot an arrow and the enemy lost half his/her life lol

Fair enough. d:
Also I realized belatedly that Blindside had replaced Backstab bonuses too. So shh...

Also, wasn't there something about there being a different kind of bonus for people who didn't pick a specialization? I may have misunderstood something though ...

Also, I realized something the other day that I'll share with you guys: I'd been more looking forward to Varric as a romance option, following the pattern of Anders, Garrus and Tali from Biowares other projects, but if he had been a romance option instead of Cullen (as I've seen others propose) then the die hard Cullen fans (or more accurately, the Cullenites who wanted to romance him (I'd been a huge fan of the character // Greg Ellis but had not assumed he'd ever be romanceable until the announcement)) would have missed out on him in a third game after maybe having already anticipated that for two games - as I did previously with Joker from the Mass Effect series ... and not only am I excited for Cullen's story arc, but I am sooo happy for you guys. It was seriously heartbreaking, though it was probably (mostly?) my fault for getting my hopes up so high, and I'm glad your fandom didn't have to experience that. d:

I wonder if you could "assassinate" Cullen in bed?  ;)

My belief is that the person who will teach us the skill is a Circle mage who originally had to get such special dispensation to learn the art themself. I highly doubt they'd force you into a corner like that with your role playing.

True, true. Like maybe we learn it from Vivienne?

Weeeell some of us did :P But I hear ya. There are a lot of lucky folks in this thread. And good people who deserve to get what they've wanted all these years.

Probably not Viv, though I think she'll have a personal spec that is very similar. No, Darrah said recently in a tweet that for specs we have to travel out into the world to find these teachers and learn from them.

Like, I know that's supposed to be an innuendo, but I just heard Auren say in my head, "Yes, of course."

I'm unsettled. By my own inquisitor.

ohhh, Did he?? Oh okay. Hmm. I like that. The conversations in DAO were so awkward. Like when I would ask Zevran to teach me assassinating, and he'd reply, Sorry, I can only teach that to a rogue. Like talk about immersion breaking :lol:

d: Ah. You must be a qunari or a dwarf, yes? I feel ya.
If you read the fanfiction I posted for 3k ... I had Blackwall offer Cullen is final shot at the Inquisitor before he moved in, I'm going to head-canon that he didn't offer Cullen this chance for my dwarfquisitor, otherwise then if I have a dwarf or qunari with Sera or Josephine I'll feel it's obvious why ... or with Bull then I feel it'd be because Bull/Inquisitor couple would always be way up front about everything...
If you're a dude who wanted Cullen then I don't know if I have anything to say... It definitely is unfortunate, but I wasn't really expecting him to be bi; but I was expecting Blackwall to be if he were a romance option (still I'm glad ladies have a possible male romance with a beard).

Sorry if I spoke insensitively / prematurely before. (: I was merely trying to congratulate those who didn't have to wait in vain.

Yes I play primarily fellas :P So yeah there were tears. Lots of tears. And I wanted Cullen OR Blackwall. Heck at one point I was thinking, ya know, Solas ain't that bad. Sure, he looks funny, but he's FASCINATING. BioWare says... NO. NO. And... NO!

Also, today I learned Freddie Mercury was Indian (ish). Definitive proof that Dorian is DG's fantasy Freddie fanboy insert :lol: Okay, he was Parsi, but mhmm, yeah!

No worries; you did not speak insensitively; I am just incapable of not whining about it constantly xD

Okay, this is completely OT, but I got to Act 3 in my redone female mage Hawke, and I think I found a Child NPC that isn't part of the quests nor sounds like an adult.  :blink:  And considering the talks in the forum where they weren't any kids in the second and I didn't see any before...how did I miss that?!

Hi everyone!

I have a question for anyone that wants to answer. I'm having trouble deciding between a female qunari mage and a female human warrior for my first playthrough. If I play the qunari I would romance IB, but if I played the human I would romance Cullen. I've liked Cullen since DAO, and I'm super excited he's an LI. The reason I can't decide between them is because I really want to play a Qunari, but I really want to romance Cullen. So I guess my question is are any on you having this problem? Are you going to romance Cullen on your first playthrough, or are you going to play a different character and romance him later?

Can't you just do two playthroughs? I know I am planning at least two.

I would go with the inquisitor you really, really want to play first. So, the qunari.

Yeah I plan on playing DAI more than once. I just couldn't decide which one to play first because I'm torn between the two.

Yeah, I also think you should go with the Inquisitor you really want to play first. And then when you do a new one for the romance, you might have thought up another Inquisitor you're really excited about.

Personally, I'm very excited for Cullen, but he won't be my first romance. I had decided on a male elven rogue before I even learned about the LIs. I hope they get to be friends.

I'm having similar problem but I think I will play my quizzys same time (not exact same time but like in turns). I had female qunari mage planned for Cullen but it didn't work out so now I have human warrior ^^;

@ Lady Sif

I have a Dalish rogue romance planned with Solas for my first DAI run.  Had planned on a Cadash with IB or Blackwall for my second run, but I think my Lavellan mage for a Cullen romance has edged my Cadash out for 2nd playthrough.  I'm already writing her background fic (with Cullen after the breach appears) and she is increasingly occupying my head canon.  Too many great choices in this game and I suspect that I will be occupied with all the characters and playthroughs I have planned for at least a year, maybe two.  I certainly devoted that much time to DAO.

I suspect sparks will fly with my Dalish mage and Cullen.  I have no idea how those two are going to manage a romance, but I suspect they will find a way.   Will drop background fic here when it is done.

Thank you for the replies! I'm glad I'm not the only one having trouble making up my mind  :lol:. You guys have helped me out a lot. I'll probably play the Qunari first, and play the human second. Cullen can wait though my Qunari will probaby still try and flirt with him  :P. Thanks again!

This might be super old news, but has there been any talk of Cullen maybe being Orlesian nobility?  I was reading World of Thedas and there's a bit about the masks where they specifically mention a lion's mask, and it just seems like too much of a coincidence to mean nothing.  I suppose he could be a retainer, but his helmet was pretty elaborate.

Absolutely nothing about his past has been confirmed as far as I know. But yeah, that is interesting!

There has been some talk while back. Lion is symbol for current nobility on throne I believe, Celene? So that could mean that Cullen is somehow related to Celene and Gaspard, maybe bastard son who was send to Ferelden's circle. But there is just problem with that and it's Alistair.. his and Cullen's backstories would be way too similar.

It's still possible though, maybe Cullen was like Evangeline who chose life as templar over life of noble on Orlais. Idk, this is all just speculation at the moment.

I was fascinated when I found that out about Freddie ... mind you for me that was some years ago - should I feel old? I'm not old. d:

When they announced sexualities were returning to Thedas, I really hoped Dorian would be bisexual for two reasons: the first was that a large group of people instantly said he'd be gay and for that reason I hoped he wasn't, and the second was because he looks the gentleman, and I would love to be his lady. I will definitely play a male inquisitor for him though. I hope you'll consider a female for Cullen. (;

Are you going to romance Cullen on your first playthrough, or are you going to play a different character and romance him later?

I am playing dwarf again, so I'm first romancing Blackwall. Cullen will be second. (;

Ah I bet I am older than you :lol:

Well, I do sometimes try to play female characters, but most of the time I lose interest and just can't relate to the character. But even when I do play women, I romance female characters. So, no Cullen romance for me, sadly ^^ Two years of being a fan down the bloody drain lol

I'm bored and figured a bit of idle speculation could be fun!  Figures it wouldn't be new to you folks.  :)

I thought I remembered something about someone's symbol being a lion!  I'm glad you remembered who, I went back to the Masked Empire to refresh my memory.

I can't imagine they'd give him a background so similar to Alistair's.  Maybe he'll be an extra son and have some interesting story about why he chose that life.  I'd really like it if he was like Evangeline, we could use more insight into good templars.
