Ah I bet I am older than you

Well, I do sometimes try to play female characters, but most of the time I lose interest and just can't relate to the character. But even when I do play women, I romance female characters. So, no Cullen romance for me, sadly ^^ Two years of being a fan down the bloody drain lol

): That suuucks. I have actually never finished a male protagonist playthrough of a Bioware game ... but I wasn't so interested in Morrigan in Dragon Age (she was fine as a friend or an enemy) and though I love Mark Meer, couldn't really get into the spirit of it for the Mass Effect games; I don't have an excuse for male Hawke. I'm determined to have a few for Inquisition though. A qunari for Cassandra and an elf for Dorian at least, but I am anticipating this game so much that I expect / hope / plan more. d:

I offer a Cullen as a peace offering (not sure if he's naked by art style, so maybe NSFW):

Hello again everyone!

It has been a really long time since I got on but out of nowhere I remembered my password tonight which is awesome!

So last I left you my health was pretty dodgy and I was loosing large parts of my memory. Over the past few months since the surgery it's been coming back steadily and my health is doing pretty solid! So for the old timers I missed you guys! I also noticed new names on here and I'm sure that talking to you will be a blast! I also want to thank you so much for your kind messages, it really meant and means a lot.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing great and hurray for Cullen and his ever growing fan thread!

Kirrahe!!! So glad to see you on the forums! it's great your health is improving and you seem to be getting over the worst of it? Keeping you in my thoughts *hugs*

CuriousA: hahaha your post about Kaiden and Garrus totally blocking you in ME? I had the worst luck in that game with Garrus' AI, he was always getting hung up on maps, I'd have to wander around to find and unstick him  in retrospect it was hilarious.

Re: Who To Play/Romance first - I'm super torn on that myself! But ultimately I'm gonna go HM/Cullen for the first go round. If by some chance it DOES end up feeling like Advisor romances are somewhat lacking compared to Companion ones, I want my experience with Cullen to be devoid of such comparisons, if that makes any sense. I want to be able to enjoy it on its own merit without a Companion LI experience to constantly compare it to.

Mind you I still try to keep in mind that I may jump into the game and totally get swept off my feet by someone else! But I'm hoping Cullen does all the swooping first off ;)

((Also: I got a new iPhone and carrier today which means way better data access and shineys! But I can't for the frickin life of me remember what my twitter password is or what apparently random and HIGHLY obscure email I used for it  so I may have to admit defeat and start a new account. Boo. damn my faulty memory. Between kids and no thyroid, it's soooo not what it used to be! (And I'm only 33 so that's pretty damned sad to me!)))

Hi everyone!

I have a question for anyone that wants to answer. I'm having trouble deciding between a female qunari mage and a female human warrior for my first playthrough. If I play the qunari I would romance IB, but if I played the human I would romance Cullen. I've liked Cullen since DAO, and I'm super excited he's an LI. The reason I can't decide between them is because I really want to play a Qunari, but I really want to romance Cullen. So I guess my question is are any on you having this problem? Are you going to romance Cullen on your first playthrough, or are you going to play a different character and romance him later?

I really want to try a Qunari too but Cullen comes first for me lol....and knowing how weak I am with 'cheating' on my first, it may take a while before I get to anyone else.  I do have a Qunari planned for Iron Bull and an elf for Solas but they are going to have to wait.

I'm bored and figured a bit of idle speculation could be fun!  Figures it wouldn't be new to you folks.  :)

I thought I remembered something about someone's symbol being a lion!  I'm glad you remembered who, I went back to the Masked Empire to refresh my memory.

I can't imagine they'd give him a background so similar to Alistair's.  Maybe he'll be an extra son and have some interesting story about why he chose that life.  I'd really like it if he was like Evangeline, we could use more insight into good templars.

I think the Chantry and its allied forces are a general dumping ground for nobility...they need the heir, the spare and some daughters for dynastic marriages, the rest get sent somewhere safe aka Chantry (often done in our own medieval times as well). Alistair, Sebastian, Evangeline and Cassandra are good examples.

The likelihood that Cullen is some form of nobility (minor or major) remains...we'll just have to wait and see. Though his helmet at the masked ball will be fun :). I think my no nonsense quizzy will be hiding behind the advisors, all that politics and the game, is so not her thing...she may even turn up to the ball in armour LOL

Although I've always planned a mage quizzy for first PT I'm going to find it difficult to stick with as I always tend to play rogues (archer if possible) with any new game. I'm sticking with human female as my first PT is always self insert and I'm not as fond of elves in DA universe. If I do stick to human mage I'm going with a KE as for me I think it will fit nicely with her personality (bit headstrong & likes to get into the thick of things) and Cullen romance.

I was wondering though, what rogue spec do you guys think would fit an archer best? I'm really not sure of this myself

I'm biased towards Artificer: lay down some traps to immobilize your targets then snipe them from a safe distance. Assassin seems more of a dagger spec and Tempest sounds a bit... weird.

Thanks for this!

I have spammed a few friends and family on FB this because I tend to ramble and make no sense when trying to explain DA... this way I can go.. "Just watch!"

I'm such a boring gamer but that does have an advantage, I never have to worry too much about choices. I'm also a creature of habit, when I find something that works or an outcome I like, I tend to stick with it in every pt.

I always play human females, I've never even tried to play a warrior class in DA and I tend to stick to only one romance option. So I may have to pick between mage or rogue but that is about it for my hard decision. My first pt will be a human mage and I like the look of the KE, romancing Cullen.

I will probably play a rogue 2nd time around but I haven't really given it a great deal of thought so far.

Same but I have seen others suggest Tempest so little confused (which is not hard atm)

I was thinking the same as you, traps and snipe for distance. And because there doesn't seem to be a solely archer class, I wonder if that means all archer abilities are available/same for each spec... (mean there's no difference in archer abilities across spec)

Lol I had some funny bugs with Kaidan in ME1 and ME3 both. One time he got stuck below keeper! I have no idea how he did it but was just crouching under it's arms and refused to follow me XD He couple times got stuck in all kinds of obstacles as well. Also his romance scene in ME3 bugged and his eyes were all over the place there :D

Ah! You guys are so nice. I saw that there'd been pages reserved on page 3000, but assumed they were reserved for specific people. Thank you! (:

Aw, naw, we just hold spots for any latecomers, and otherwise fill in the page so the discussion can continue. Late submissions are always welcome! :)

Lions show up in a number of contexts in Orlais, tho, so I doubt it means anything really specific. There's the Golden Prince's raiment armor set from DA2 (along with the Lion of Orlais), there are lion statues in MotA, there are lion statues in Val Royeaux concept art.

I'm with everyone in thinking that the long-lost royalty angle is a snoozer, so I hope that's not the reason.

My own guess is that it's just a stylistic choice for the military branch of the Inquisition that they ran with. But maybe because they started the organization in Orlais? I think I'll be surprised if it says something personal about Cullen since it's a symbol for a whole branch of the Inquisition, and features on their military-style keeps.

It's so good to hear you're on the mend.  Now they can bring on November- gushing over Cullen cutscenes just wouldn't have been the same without you.  Rest up and get stronger, you've only got a few more weeks to prepare for the evil doers arse kicking and I'm not going to give up nagging until you agree to join us in our Cullenites Ineptquistion Multiplayer feista.   :D

I'm so pleased you're back.

I'm still torn, though a female dwarven warrior romancing IB has been my first choice pretty consistently. I may not romance Cullen until my third PT (human mage, with an Amell Warden in a Leliana romance just because I like awkward situations), though truthfully, I almost always have several PTs going at once. But I agree with what several others have said - play the inquisitor you really want to, Cullen-the-LI will be there later (of course, my own fascination with Cullen is more as a character than a romance, Blackwall seems more my own type). I want to play Zhenya first because I love dwarves and I prefer warriors while I'm making sense of a combat system (and IB because I appreciate that someone did the work to make sure dwarven women weren't left with only a single male romance). And I really like the personality I've imagined for her.

Well, Alistair and Sebastian, yes, though even those were special circumstances that didn't necessarily have anything to do with having too many children. But my impression is that Evangeline and Cassandra chose to join rather being dumped there? A country's military and knighthood in the service of another noble are also perfectly good possibilities without that child being lost for dynastic purposes (all it takes is an epidemic or war to be down to that 4th or 5th child as heir). I hope forced oaths are the exception, not the norm, because that's almost a guarantee of an abusive, badly functioning system (even worse than what we've seen, I mean).

I really hope Cullen isn't also closely related to a royal family (though almost any noble will have some remote connection to the royalty of their country). I think there's a good chance he's from a minor noble family or something of that sort, especially since they seem to hint at more past than a kid given to the chantry at 9 or 10 would have. I'd rather think he was a Templar by choice than forced into it like Alistair almost was (which is another reason I hope he wasn't given to the Chantry.)
