Lol I had some funny bugs with Kaidan in ME1 and ME3 both. One time he got stuck below keeper! I have no idea how he did it but was just crouching under it's arms and refused to follow me XD He couple times got stuck in all kinds of obstacles as well. Also his romance scene in ME3 bugged and his eyes were all over the place there

I'm the one who mentioned playing a Tempest archer a few pages back, so let me clarify that I'm thinking of taking this spec primarily for roleplaying reasons, not because it sounds super useful for archers or anything. In gameplay terms, Tempest really doesn't seem the best spec set for a ranger, but rather for a quasi-tanky dual wielder (if the fire coating is what I'm picturing). The Artificer set does look a lot more appropriate - I'm only preferring Tempest so far because the way I built my character's background, being proud/arrogant to the point of "daring enemies to face the storm" sounds a lot more like her than playing with stealth and sniping.

But yah, I'm not hard set on it, so don't take advice from me. If upon looking at the actual spec trees in game the Tempest skill set looks way too tanky to be of any use and the Artificer set looks way more useful in combat to my archer, I might switch it around. I do know that my Ari learned all she knows of archery from hunting for sport in the teyrn's and the Vael's woods like a good fancy noble after all, so I can always roleplay that she learned of sneaking around game and setting up traps from that.

Hello again everyone!

It has been a really long time since I got on but out of nowhere I remembered my password tonight which is awesome!

So last I left you my health was pretty dodgy and I was loosing large parts of my memory. Over the past few months since the surgery it's been coming back steadily and my health is doing pretty solid! So for the old timers I missed you guys! I also noticed new names on here and I'm sure that talking to you will be a blast! I also want to thank you so much for your kind messages, it really meant and means a lot.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing great and hurray for Cullen and his ever growing fan thread!

I'm still torn, though a female dwarven warrior romancing IB has been my first choice pretty consistently. I may not romance Cullen until my third PT (human mage, with an Amell Warden in a Leliana romance just because I like awkward situations), though truthfully, I almost always have several PTs going at once. But I agree with what several others have said - play the inquisitor you really want to, Cullen-the-LI will be there later (of course, my own fascination with Cullen is more as a character than a romance, Blackwall seems more my own type). I want to play Zhenya first because I love dwarves and I prefer warriors while I'm making sense of a combat system (and IB because I appreciate that someone did the work to make sure dwarven women weren't left with only a single male romance). And I really like the personality I've imagined for her.

That's why I'm having so much trouble is that I love his personality. I never really thought of Cullen as an LI until he was announced as one. Now I'm kind of stuck because I know that I like him, and while I have a strong feeling I'll love IB as well I still don't know him yet. You guys are right though I should play the one I really want to first which is the female Qunari. Cullen will still be there, but my Qunari will still try and flirt with him

I was wondering though, what rogue spec do you guys think would fit an archer best? I'm really not sure of this myself

I'm biased towards Artificer: lay down some traps to immobilize your targets then snipe them from a safe distance. Assassin seems more of a dagger spec and Tempest sounds a bit... weird.

I was thinking the same as you, traps and snipe for distance. And because there doesn't seem to be a solely archer class, I wonder if that means all archer abilities are available/same for each spec... (mean there's no difference in archer abilities across spec)

I'm with you in that I'm disappointed that none of the rogue specializations seem to favor a bow (or even give it equal preference!)
However, without knowing what the talents are in each spec, it's difficult to know how that spec will play with a bow. Going off the assumption that each of our companions represents a spec, Varric, a bow-user, is an Artificer, and Sera is a Tempest. In the second part of the E3 demo from earlier this year (where the Inquisitor and party are fighting Alexius) you can see that Sera's bow seems to be giving off a frost effect - which points to Tempests using alchemical potions to give elemental effects to their weapons, be those daggers or arrows.
At the moment I'm also stuck on what to do with my Dalish archer... none of the specs really speak to me (or her) from a roleplaying perspective. I plan on playing a human mage first to romance Cullen, so I'm hoping I will get a better feel for the rogue specs through my companions during that playthrough.

I know! Same said elf is a male in my head or I'd have a Solas-mancer.

Then again, I expect concepts beyond the first to be smashed to pieces by the game. So Solas might get a girl. And so might Cullen. Or I might start furiously slashing him with Blackwall...

Oh, Zhenya will try to flirt with Dorian and Cullen and Solas (and Cassandra if that's an option). She won't flirt with Sera, Josephine, or Blackwall because I don't want her to accidentally start a romance with them.

Lions show up in a number of contexts in Orlais, tho, so I doubt it means anything really specific. There's the <a data-ipb="nomediaparse" data-cke-saved-href="http://dragonage.wik...e_Golden_Prince" href="http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/The_Golden_Prince" s_raiment"="">Prince's raiment armor set from DA2 (along with the Lion of Orlais), there are lion statues in MotA, there are lion statues in Val Royeaux concept art.

I'm with everyone in thinking that the long-lost royalty angle is a snoozer, so I hope that's not the reason.

My own guess is that it's just a stylistic choice for the military branch of the Inquisition that they ran with. But maybe because they started the organization in Orlais? I think I'll be surprised if it says something personal about Cullen since it's a symbol for a whole branch of the Inquisition, and features on their military-style keeps.

 

I hadn't realized the lion was so prevalent in the Inquisition, but I do think it would be odd for them to start in Orlais, pick the symbol of the current ruling family fighting each other for the throne, and run with it.  Wouldn't they want to stay out of that?  Especially since using someone's symbol is punishable by death.  

 

I'm not for or against Cullen being nobility, I'm just very curious.  A lot of stuff in WoT felt like it was leaving little hints for us (and some of those were made clear by Last Flight) and I can't help but think it means something, whatever that is.
