My canon Hawke has no particular opinion, actually. Nice enough guy, but wouldn't bring him home for dinner.

I'm sick of mages and templars too tbh. I think the thing that I hate most is the way the actions of some reflect (and doesn't reflect) on the group as a whole. I feel like because Templars are an actual organisation rather than a people, when there's an evil Templar like Alrik, it reflects badly upon the Templar Order as a whole, (gameplay vs story segregation didn't help this either, what with all the other Templars Hawke has to fight in that scene). But when there's an evil mage like Uldred, it doesn't seem to reflect badly on mages in the eyes of the majority of people. Sure, Tevinter mages kinda reflect badly on Tevinter mages, but I don't feel like Tevinters are as directly relevant to the Mage/Templar conflict.
I hate that the radicals in both factions pretty much have complete control. I like to think there are lots of mages and Templars who could be brought together and work together (uneasily, but still...) to deal with the radicals. I'm really hoping that putting out the call for the moderates from both factions to join the Inquisition is an option. And to bring Cullen into it, I think a Cullen-mage relationship, romantic or not, could be kind of the symbol to get them to work together. I'm frankly fine with then wiping out the atrocity prone mages and Templars after that.

I want to know what the requirements of being Cullen's friend are. My canon Hawke is a sarcastic female mage who was a moderate-pro-mage, she appeared to be on good terms with Cullen and called him friend :/

Is it just me or does that Vivienne picture have the same unfortunate crotch shadow effect that the female rogue did? Something looks very strange in that area.

There does seem to be some odd...padding in the front of some of the women's trousers. ![]()

Where's the "killed Cullen and teabagged his corpse as revenge for taking Bethany away" option?

I hope I don't sound surly, but how would I know Cullen and Hawke were friends? What options would I pick? It seems like pure headcanon.

I assume choosing to not do the optional quest Enemies Among Us, would be a big part of it. Otherwise, I mostly agree with you that it doesn't seem obvious that they would be friends or not because he is still respectful of you and your decisions regardless of how conflicting they may be of his moral code, but can see how some of his more aggressive vocal options can be triggered, or more of a rapport can be built between Hawke and Cullen if you talk to him between quests (which isn't something I knew I could do until my 6th playthrough).

It's headcanon, but a lot of it can be conveyed through in-game dialogue. If you take the "mage rights!!!!!" and "it's the Templars' fault!" dialogue options every time you talk to him, you might infer that he and Hawke wouldn't be the best of friends - although Cullen still has to be respectful to Hawke due to first, his station as Knight-Captain, and later, Hawke's as the Champion.
I know my mage Hawke and Cullen weren't in any friendly terms, because they'd always end up bickering about #NotAllMages and #NotAllTemplars every single time Hawke had to speak to him, and Cullen's responses would be appropriately annoyed. I know my rogue Hawke and him were in good terms because she always chose either neutral/diplomatic or Chantry creed-friendly dialogue choices, and his responses would be appropriately friendly/positive (if a bit wistful in tone). I did try a "worst case scenario" Hawke for a while that would pick mostly "all mages are evil and must die" responses but, rather unsurprisingly knowing what we know of him, Cullen didn't react too well to that much radicalism either. I suspect if I hadn't abandoned that character, they wouldn't have ended up too friendly in the end.
So it is headcanon, but it isn't. If that makes sense?
There are other choices in the Keep like this that are... pretty subjective roleplaying notions too, rather than clear-cut Choice X versus Choice Y.

Usually the same with me, depending on the choices. But now I am curious on the other choices, if deciding if Hawke and Cullen are friends or not is part of it.

While I am really excited to learn all about Cullen, his background, his personality, I will be a bit sad to say goodbye to my Cullen.
It will be kind of neat to see how similar or different my Cullen will be to the "real" Cullen.

I keep thinking that my head canon regarding Cullen has less than 2 months to live.

I sorta had this feeling when I realized my Cullen/Surana headcanon had died, so have a "I know that feel bro" hug. For the loooongest time I had this neat headcanon that maybe, one day, in time, who knows, only time can tell - and then at some point of this year I realized that whole headcanon was just... gone. Even trying to recapture the sweet moments, or the idea of a reunion at long last, or the Cullen I built up in my head, I didn't feel anything anymore. It wasn't even about shipping Cullen with the Inquisitor, it was just... it's been twelve years. The Warden and Cullen are both at such different points of their lives, he's become such a different man now, so much more than he's ever been.
And I'm intrigued by this man he's become. I want to get to know him, I want to learn about him from him, not from myself. He's turned out a character a lot more interesting, multi-dimensional and fully realized than I could ever have come up with. So it was that feeling of, goodbye headcanon Cullen, hello actual canon Cullen - bittersweet, but also exciting? Because we're getting his character as a "real" character this time, with his own history and feelings and personality, not just a tabula rasa we can project anything onto, and that's super intriguing. Who is Cullen, really? I'm so excited to find out.

Exactly! We've met him, talked to him (even made him run through a door to hide in some PTs). But we really don't know much about who he really is.

I read this wrong and thought you were saying Cullen was certain to die in Inquisition. I nearly had a heart attack. This has lessened my sympathies, but I'm sure // I hope he is everything you've dreamed regardless. (;
I can't see him being disappointing though. I'm so excited to meet him.

Each of us would have what we think/feel Cullen is like behind his job/professionalism... I wonder how close any of us are or if he'll surprise and be completely different off duty..
GASP! What if we don't actually like him behind all that?!
Nah....

Lol, yes, I can tell that she's wearing pants
In fact, standing in that pose without pants would not look very good at all.
Like Tishina said, I'm referring to the... padding... that seems to be in some of the ladies' pants.
For example, the dwarf female rogue looked like this.
