Hello, Cullenites. I'm mostly lurking here and now when I'm geting fond of Cullen and idea of romacing him I start to worry that advisors romances won't be as full as companions romances.

I understand your concerns about a romance with Cullen but Panda is right.  The writers have said repeatedly that the advisors' romances are just as rich and full as the the companions, the only exception being that our interaction with advisors will be within Skyhold rather than on the road.  Since the DA team has made spending time at Skyhold a fullfilling experience in and of itself, this romance scenario should be no hardship and may even offer advantages we're not aware of yet!

Welcome, Elanor! Indeed, apprently they just reiterated this yesterday in Edmonton, from David Gaider himself. Same word budget for all romances. Only difference is no travel banter for non-traveling advisors.

Also I was thinking about what some of you have written about what was said about the Warden.

I like to think that they aren't going to fob the Warden off on their "calling" and I don't think they'd turn our character/hero into a villian by being under the influence of Cory.

I understand that the Warden probably won't make an appearance due to a number of things like their voice. It's quite possible the Warden (if alive mind you) has been tasked to find Cory or investigate the talking darkspawn or the said influence over over wardens due to their experience.

They could always get around the voice thing by making the Warden a mute. Give him/her a big ol' scar across the neck and say they lost their larynx in the war and now they have to scribble everything on a blackboard that hangs around their neck.

I'm not sure that is a problem. Any voice actor would do in this case. I would love to see the Warden.

I think someone else pointed out (can't remember who sorry!) that some people might be a bit peeved with a voiced warden due to have no control over the choice of voice and being >your< warden. I know if I didn't like the VA for my Warden, I'd probably be a little upset (although I'd get over it) I hope that makes sense.

I suggested in another thread that my Warden, for example, is married to Alistair and they are ruling Ferelden.  He could mention her in conversations, maybe have to go off and discuss big decisions with her, that kind of thing.  She could be out there leading Ferelden forces while he's doing the diplomatic stuff.  Though my Warden was ever the Diplomat, but hey, I'm sure Alistair has learned a lot in the interim!

Based on what was said by Mark recently, I think it's unlikely they'll appear but rather just be mentioned. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see my warden again!

Possibly. I had Queen Warden as well but I also get the impression from end of DA2 that regardless of her/his situation the warden has gone missing. I would assume Alistair by now can hold the rein by himself (hopefully). I'm going to bet on her looking into those wardens/darkspawn, however, I think they'll probably come up with someone no one will suspect. I also think it was interesting that someone suggested Alistair might not having to go through his calling, hmmm part of me like this but part of me says he's already "special" enough lol

EDIT: although it's quite possible Alistair knows where they/she is! Didn't think of that before!! Interesting...

 

Truly, I'm not holding onto any theory tightly as to not being disappointed but I definitely looking forward to "AHHHHH!!!" moments when I do get my hands on the game.

 

I have actually had a few questions for some more lore savvy folk like The Elder King & Eluv but I'll ask at another time.

 

At attempt to get back on topic (kinda) I've been thinking about when we'll actually be introduce to Cullen & other advisors. I'm starting to feel like we may be kept seperate from them until deemed "trustworthy" and it be left for Cass to interrogate us

I think the scenario that would make me the MOST happy with my Warden would be the occasional talk of what's she's doing off screen, and one time where we "just missed her!".

 

That would, honestly, just make me giddy.

hi my fellow cullenites! haven't been here for a while, but thankfully i have caught up with the thread (:

i also have started working on the "full" comics (7 pages only, but it has qualities of a real one, no strips this time), inspired by rihouston's ficlet she wrote for me with moirin and cullen ;u; so far it was fun, tho the inking is probably going to kill me. don't know when it would be finished, but be ready for some fluff and kisses ♥

 

I wouldn't call my Dalish Inquisitor pro-Chantry, but she's not interested in the mage-templar conflict apart from finding a solution to it, and doesn't have strong opinions about either side.  The only templars or mages she's met are the unfortunate dummies who stumble across a camp of wary Dalish pointing arrows at them    And I'd like to play at least one Chantry loyalist quizzy for a change of pace.  

 

that's the attitude i'm going to ascribe to my quizzie as well. 

i have this headcanoned - because she had been raised among the dalish, away from the "real" world, she doesn't know much about how mages, that are not dalish elves are treated in the outside world (i like the idea of some dalish clans to be very hermetical, mostly due to the "protecting their people" reasons). she's the curious one tho, so i think, she might ask cullen questions about the chantry, circles, and templars, to get a better understanding of the world she has to live in now. these talks i hope would be for a really long, sleepless nights for them both ;u;

I'd love to think the Warden is just out of touch on a mission. But, I see problems with that. If the Warden was in a romance with Alistair, Leliana would have asked him and at the very least would have been told "gone on GW business, don't ask questions" and not that the Warden was missing. And how would the GWs have found and sent a Warden who went through the Eluvian with Morrigan on a mission or one who otherwise took off at the end of DAO (and would Morrigan have told Leliana anything if the Warden wasn't actually missing considering their relationship, even if Leliana found her to ask?)

 

I don't get the VA problem that much myself, but I do realize a lot of people will be upset if their Warden doesn't have exactly the voice they imagined.

There's one early concept art (the one with Dorian making "that's mahogany!" hands) that shows the Inquisitor with the three advisors still in a sort of command center tent, and another with Cullen leading his men towards Skyhold, so it looks like Cass will be bringing them somewhat early, between Haven and Skyhold but after meeting Dorian and Solas. But yeah, the first few moments of the game will probably be between us and Cass and maybe Varric, until everyone regroups in Haven and the advisors are brought in.

I wonder how Cullen's first scene will be. If the three advisors are introduced at the same time Leliana will probably dominate the whole conversation, so I guess I'd like to be introduced to them one by one to have a chance to have a first impression of Cullen in specific. Will he be cold and detached, just doing the job Cass gave him, or awkwardly reverent if he buys into the whold "Herald" thing? I just hope his first interaction with the Quiz isn't just chewing her out for being responsible for the explosion too, I don't wanna spend the first half of the game saying "wasn't me" to every new ally we meet.

Aaah, I'm just anxious to meet my general and have a one on one with him, talk about what's going on and what we're gonna do about it. I'm planning a largely militarized Inquisition, so I hope we can have good professional conversations with him about planning, strategy, logistics, chokeholds, etc too, not just academic debates. My Inquisitor's version of foreplay shall be playing the war table with Cullen like a game of Risk until he's all hot and bothered by all that sexy strategizing.

The Warden does have a voice in DA:O.  You pick a voiceset for him/her, and now that I'm replaying DA:O, I'm finding the Warden surprisingly chatty.  While I very much doubt BioWare could track down each and every original VA for the voicesets (since there were like 12 of them), they might be able to get VAs to mimic the voices for the few lines that a cameo would require.
