What way does it point in DA2? Now I'm completely confused, lol.

The wiki says there's actually five variations of the Sword of Mercy heraldry.

The exact design varies. There are at least five variations.

The sword is pointing up with two small flames on either side.
Pointing down with four larger flames
With the sword pointing down with four flames one either side. The flames end about two thirds of the way down.
Same as above but the flames are larger closer to the hilt.
With four flames on either side running the length of the sword.

So unless they are doing a regional/faction difference, I'd like them to just pick one!

Wow, I hadn't realized there were that many variations on the sword of mercy! I'd noticed there was a difference between the basic one in DAO and the one pointing down in DA2.

@Tishina...yes I am vicious too, and he deserved it! Female City Elf origin 'droit de seigneur' then we had that woman in Denerim who said that the Orlesians treated all lower class women that way Elf and Human....you know that crud didn't actually stop in British law until the 1800s....eeeeeewwwww. That origin was hard to play through....especially when you went back to the alienage with LI in the party.

Tielis is likely right, national differences? We also had different Chantry robes between Fereldan and the Free Marches.

I put that origin PT on the backburner just after the moment of the kidnapping the first time through and didn't go back for a couple of weeks because it took me by surprise. My only problems with the later return to the Alienage was 1) I can't imagine the CE *not* telling a LI how he or she ended up in the wardens long before that, and 2) the dialogue kind of glazes over it.

To mix things up. Same reason we have bisexuals and homosexuals in the game, it's just how the devs/writers wanted to do it this time around, rather than them all being bi like in DA2 (Seb doesn't count).

 

Exactly! So if they can make them however they want (and they can), then I wish they'd made them more fairly. Which is all I'm saying. Instead of having both straight Solas and straight Cullen, I wish they'd only gone with one of those and made him bi. Because I'm selfish

 

I'm waffling on the PC thing again =\ I may go with a next gen console instead. Everyone is going on and on about how we won't be able to mod the game. So I don't see the point in spending 400 extra dollars to get the game on PC.

Totally weird fact:

 

Today I ran Cullens face through all 3 games into some professional Facial recognition software, normally used to compare IDs etc.

 

The faces from my post 76986 + Cullen DAI smiling registered as first two same, third questionable.

The same faces compared with Cullen frowning from DAI showed a match.

 

Poor Noodle frowns too much, we need to make him smile more in game...
