The one where Meredith and Orsino are arguing in front of the Keep. At least, that'd be my guess.
Oh okay. But Cullen isn't present for that argument, right?

Although once I did see a modded version of that scene, with Anders standing in Orsino's place and Cullen in Meredith's place. It may have fueled my Cullen x Anders fantasies ![]()
So I know we've discussed the "Were Hawke and Cullen friends?" issue. Would you guys say that a pro-templar Hawke would be friends with him while a pro-mage Hawke wouldn't?
Sorry folks but I chose not to be friends with Cullen.
I thought that you could be friends with him if you were pro Mage. I mean, my Hawke did call him her old friend.
Yeah, someone here said that in one playthrough he called her "friend" but in another he didn't.
Jumping back to the people from the other origins dying... In non-dwarf commoner origins, you can find and free Leske from the Carta's dungeon, and he makes a statement which makes it clear that the dead guy in the other cell was from the dwarf commoner origin (which I literally just heard three minutes ago
). And in non-dwarf noble origins, there are a couple of conversations in Orzammar which tell you something happened to Endrin's middle child (can't remember if it says specifically or just hints that he was shut into the deep roads). I think I've heard ambient conversation about the Couslands when you're a non-human. And doesn't Merrill say something about someone besides Tamlen dying in a non-Dalish DA 2 worldstate (I could be completely wrong on that)?
I do remember a comment that the "unused" mage origin characters were executed in their Harrowing, yes. Perhaps by Cullen?
Yikes! ![]()

I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that the origins you don't choose still happen just without Duncan there to intervene.
Yikes!
I say that because when you talk to him after your Harrowing he says that he was the one chosen to end it had you not prevailed over the demon. ![]()

I heard that they all just died because Duncan was off saving you instead of them.
Anyone think Cullen was purposly chosen to do deliver the killing blow in the harrowing because it was known he had a crush on the PC Mage?

I think one of the writers said something like that.

I thought that was pretty strongly implied, yes. It seemed to be a very open secret. ![]()

Yeah, I just hadn't thought of that possibility before.
The choice was added in today's update. I don't think I/we can talk ok how it works here though.
Mmm, this choice was included in the public video on the Keep, before even the Keepers saw it, so I think it's fair game. And has already been discussed extensively.
For the mini version of my two cents, I think this is added only for reactivity in DA:I when asked about Hawke. The "less a friend of the templars" is just because your playthrough is pro-templar. In other convos, Hawke calls him an old friend (in promage and protemplar playthroughs). I don't think these key off anything.

So just treat it as RP flavor?
Okay, I know what save I'm using for the Cullen romance.

Yes, that why I was wondering about Amell/Surana as the magi origin is the same--I thought perhaps the other mage didn't pass their Harrowing and that perhaps Cullen has a crush on both Amell and Surana at the same time, but had to strike one down in Harrowing or I was wondering if the other died before even getting to the Circle--for example if you pick Amell than Surana doesn't exist and vice versa.
Only wondering due to my playthrough of DAO again
Never really thought about it before until today
Personally, in my canon Amell line, I don't think Surana exist.
But if she/he did...he would be a guy who failed his Harrowing. ![]()

I think Surana still existed when you choose Amell, not sure on that though

oh yes, I didn't even think of that ..that if Surana is female perhaps Amell is male and did die in his Harrowing and Cullen did have to do it....I hope Cullen talks about why he became a Templar and his training to the Inquisitor.

Agreed!

However Cullen says to mage warden that he has never seen abomination before so he hasn't executed anyone during Harrowing either. Well maybe the Surana/Amell has Harrowing after yours and fails.
