I have this song on the repeat.
Kaidan's was great for me. It was one hell of a slow burn, but in that regard, the long time friendship before turning into romance in Me3 was a lot more powerful and realistic to me.
And nothing against Steve's romance, but I really felt like the rebound guy at first.
I guess it how people interpret things. I never felt that way at all. People grieve in their own way. Like I said..if the mSHep/Kaidan dialogue had its own fresh dialogue...I'd probably think differently.

Why did it need fresh dialogue though? I'm genuinely curious. Liara had the exact same dialogue in regards to romance with both male and female Shepard.

It just did not feel real to me. My brother actually did the mSHep/Kaidan romance first before mShep/Cortez. He was very disappointed.
He felt really let down at how it was written/done and at first I didn't believe him until I tried it myself. And yes the dialogue for Liara is the same but it did not seem as noticeable as it was for mshep/Kaidan. It just seems tacked on. More effort should have been made. Cortez/mShep really stood out for me. The banter between missions was sexy and sweet. I think Cortez got the better romance for a NPC romance. I think Traynor got shafted which is a shame because she is a great character.
overall, i think Da does better romances than ME. they just seem to have more kick to them.
shrugs.
See I didn't feel that at all. They should have put more effort into the dialogue and I would have felt it. Now Cortez and mShep had alot of sex between missions.

I felt that Kaidan had enough dialogue from the first game through the third (even on a friendship path, as in mShep's case) to paint a clear picture of his character that we didn't need to go over how sexual he is or not all over again, while Cortez only had one game to make his case. They were different scenarios and had to be treated differently.
In any case, I realize it's sorta my fault for bringing up Kaidan, but this is not a Mass Effect thread, so we should probably not extend this Kaidan vs. Steve vs. Garrus etc parenthesis too long.

Um it was NOT just about the sex when it comes to Cortez/mshep. And sorry for being defensive. Ive been called crazy and idiot for not being into the mShep/Kaidan romance. So No problem guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
EDIT: Added the word NOT because I type 80 words a minute. UGH.
Sorry for one last OT tidbit, but... I discovered recently that you can rather testily ask Kaidan if he fancies Liara. Shepard sounded so jealous when he asked that
I loved it. EDIT: And I just remember, you can ask Ashley if she's into Kaidan, too! Shepard dun like nobody snoopin round his boo ![]()

But yeessssss mama do like. He can come visit at Quizzie's quarters wearing nothing but that, I sure wouldn't complain.
eta: ......so my co-workers gathered round to see who's the hottie on my screen, and the consensus seems to be "well gurl if that's your videogame boyfriend, now I get why you need a week off work to handle that" and I JUST sfdkjbdsj oh Maker let me die of embarrassment now

Yes Morie posted it before...but it can't be posted enough in my opinion.
29th November: Dear work, will be having a day off sick...I'm smitten with an ex-Templar. It may be contagious...

...Ahem. Yes, he's quite fetching ![]()
AND I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL DECEMBER TO ROMANCE HIM. *sigh* He's almost awesome enough to win out over travelling. I have no higher praise than that.
Wildelight you have my sympathy, it is indeed a painful choice.
I kinda wanted to put my opinion somewhere:P
Well, I didn't play it either until the summer after ME3 came out initially, but even still I was really annoyed that I wasn't given the ability to romance anyone before I went all the way through the first two.
I sincerely feel for all the gaymers that had to wait practically forever to get the option.
No kidding. I actually modded Shep so I could have Kaidan in ME1 (and getting called Ma'am), and having gone through both the modded and non-modded romances, it goes without saying to me that FemShep's is better. Better than even Garrus. There are things Kaidan says in ME3 that have nothing really to do with the romance in ME1 and yet are still tied to it.
As for me, I still pray that if ever they release a remastered version, Kaidan is available to MShep from ME1. Getting the 'modded' romance without having to mod would be the highlight, and well worth the money.

The intro to MShep/Kaidan felt more natural to me compared to the break between Cortez mourning and then Purgatory. The first time I saw that, I was like 'nope' out the door. It felt too reboundy. As for Traynor, I can almost think that she has half the dialogue of Cortez. Any path with her feels a bit stunted, and yes, she is a great character otherwise.
As for Liara, I think the opposite of Traynor is true, she has ridiculous amounts of dialogue, romanced or not. It makes Kaidan/Ashley just seem sad (and, yes, I am one of those people who believe that they got less in general that other followers, it's like the word budget was halved and split between them, although I know that's not true).
And feel free to ignore this, I just *had* to put in my two bits.

Oh god.... that's it. My female human Inquisitor is going after him no matter how bitter I am that she has to be female. It is decided.

And as for the grief thing. We all grieve in our ways. Like I said...we'll just have to agree to disagree. Like I said...Ive been personally harassed by hardcore Kadian/mshep straight fans so I tend to get a bit defensive. And if I sounded defensive in any of my posts I am sorry for that. This is a subject I will be avoiding from now on.

Noooo
I tried to block out memories of Alistair calling my male Surana "a beautiful woman" but you're bringing it all back ![]()

Wasn't meant as a direct response to anything you said (hence the heavy "to me"s). As for myself, to be completely honest, I'm in the camp that says both romances had huge faults. I just prefer Kaidan's better (especially if Kaidan/MShep in ME1 is ever made canon).
ANYWAY, CULLEN.
ANYWAY, CULLEN.
.... hopefully doesn't have lots of gender-specific dialogue ("My lady," etc.) so that 4-5 years from now when someone gets around to modding his romance we don't have to deal with modded Alistair/Kaidan 2.0 ![]()
Tbh... I'm still gonna have fun getting to know him. I don't have to be in a romance with him. So yes I am definitely looking forward to meeting him in DAI!!!

I tend to stay away from mods as long as I have a choice not to. Shepard had no gay romance in ME1, so modding felt necessary. ME2, I could "continue" the romance from ME1. So no modding necessary. So yeah, "bromancing" Cullen seems to be my future.

Think of it the same way female PCs are routinely called "sir" by military in games. Ignore the gender for the sentiment. ![]()
I mean, it's not as bad as getting a break-up speech for a romance you never had... ![]()
When does this happen?? I'm halfway through my ME2 playthrough so I'll be starting ME3 soon.
I usually get during the Priority: Rannoch missions. I think it's after the final or after you take out the guns and save the Admiral whatshisface (name escapes me) mission. Might depend on how many times you spoke to him before that though. You'll know when, when you go in and he is on the recliner.

You have NO IDEA how much this irks me!! Janeway telling her crew to call her MA'AM is one of my favorite scenes in television history!
