For me Blackwall and Cullen are gonna be Boo's. I want Cullen first, but I'm afraid traveling around with BW and all will....turn my head. ![]()
Will see. I really need to get into this game and just see how it goes.

I'm romancing IB with my lady qunari. looking fwd to it actually.
In my very uneducated and unimportant opinion, I feel they should focus on making the add-on boys romance-able to all races and genders in the year after the game ships
OMG THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME. (Although I suspect there's a reason Solas is only into elves; okay, so just make him like boy elves, too
)
Listen to me, BioWare, I have good ideas; I'm sure this could be done with nooooo problems
*joking*
I am actually really surprised they made BOTH elves only available to females. Guys are basically left with only humans save IB. It's weird.
I personally write my characters out before I play them. Who they are, what their motivations are, and of course, who they will romance.
That's easier to do once you've played the game. Right now, I don't really know what kind of choices I'll have or what a romance is like. I can only go "politically savvy, witty qunari" and see what happens.
Cassandra will be my first romance. It is my destiny.
Is there a hide helm option?
Surprisingly, all of the love interests appeal to me in one way or another this time. It's a first for me, there was at least one LI in both DAO and DA2 that I wasn't interested in at all, and several in ME that I never even bothered youtubing. But this time? I want them aaaaaaaaaaaall.
But Cullen first. Always Cullen first. I've waited too long to romance this guy, the other LIs will have to do the waiting now.
I've been feeling the same way you describe, here. All of the LI the devs have described so far seem at least interesting enough, that I want at least one playthrough with each one. I suppose only Scribbles is down there at the bottom of the list, and even her I'm thinking, "Eventually."
Never been like that for me in any Bioware game. Some LI I find myself literally shuddering at the thought of romancing. Like Jack. Sorry for those people who loved that romance but it just felt so wrong to me, in so many ways. Aside from watching on youtube, I steered clear of it. To the point that I sabotage Jack's loyalty after completing Miranda's mission.
I'm actually a little shocked anyone can be sure they know who they're romancing. I mean I can narrow it down by virtue of finally deciding to run fem!qunari first, bu to say "I will definitely go for this specific person" seems odd.
I'll straight up copypasta something I posted on reddit a few weeks ago about romance spoilers because it still describes my play style best:
Some players like to play blind and wing their characters by the seat of their pants, going with the flow. I find that idea really cool in theory. Unfortunately, I'm the other extreme type of player, that writes extensive backstories for my PCs, makes a full D&D character sheet with alignment, morals, childhood memories, shoe size, favorite cake flavor, etc. Naturally, that comes with romance planning. I need to know who the romance options are and which way they swing and whatever else I can, because planning a character forever, going into the game determined to live the romance of the century with Companion X, only to hear a "sorry I'm not into your -gender/species/haircut- but let's be friends" would be the shittiest feeling ever. If you like winging it, this is obviously not a problem; but as a heavy planner, I need receipts.
That's how I roll. A lot of players here in the thread are still struggling with even choosing their very first Inquisitor, I already have my first six Inquisitors outlined down to race, class, specialization, looks, romance, alignment, cake flavor (yeah that's serious), etc. What can I say, my RPG roots are firmly staked in Dungeons & Dragons classic character building, I don't even know how to enter an RPG without a full character reference sheet short at hand. And having set romance endgoals are a huge part of that - I'll build whole characters around a certain romance if I need to (see, a male specifically for Dorian when I don't like playing males) or even change one I already have for a romance if it comes down to it (see, genderbending my original male Lavellan to a female when Solas' gating came out). But I need to plan it out beforehand. It might be weird for players who prefer more spontaneous character building, but... that's how I play. ![]()
So for those whiling away the hours and avoiding spoilers, this is rather adorable if you haven't seen it. It's a vid of a Q&A with Greg Ellis and Steve Blum from that Fanboy con in Florida where Rita met GE. Very little (read: no) Dragon Age (and a lot of SW Rebels), but it's cute nonetheless to hear about their experiences as voice actors.

Wow, that panel start was embarrassing to watch. Don't just sit there in awkward silence, people, show some enthusiasm! ![]()
But Greg doing the dorky smily dance with his name card was adorable. Hee!
Oooh there's actually a little throwaway line from Greg there in the video about doing extra lines for DAI! Wonder if these were the romance scenes they addded later on with the extension, since we know he was recording (possibly the original) lines for Cullen ages ago.
Or maybe the multiplayer lines, if they came later? He supposedly gives out some of the missions there, right.

I'd have to say I'm middle of the road in this. I do give my characters enough background, etc. to make them a person to me when I start to play (it makes their individual choices easier and more logical), and I make some tentative plans, but once I start playing, that character often has a mind of her own. Several of my wardens romanced someone other than who I intended them to. We really only have much prior interaction with two LIs - the personalities of the other six are really a blank slate to us. I expect Zhenya to romance IB, but I could easily see her getting tempted by Blackwall, Sera or Josephine. I think Ryumka will be fascinated by Cullen after she gets over her initial wariness, but she may never feel safe with him, depending on how he's written. She won't be comfortable with anyone with a temper, so although I think she's straight, she may inform me that Josephine is exactly her type after all. To me (and we all have our gaming preferences and styles), going into the game with no idea who the PC is beyond race/class/gender doesn't feel like actually roleplaying while precisely making all the major decisions in advance without some flexibility doesn't feel like actually gaming, especially for one that changes with your decisions.

I have to agree with this; if the LI were all bi I'd definitely have a crack at each and every one of them! Well, possible exception of Dorian, sorry Dorian lovers
(Though surely playing the game will change my mind.)
I'll bite, I want to see what this "creepy" image is. Anyone have a link they can PM me? I've already gotten my dose of nightmare fuel this week already.

I know exactly what you mean. My LIs tend not to be who I thought they would be. I'm winding up canon Hawke, and Merrill just snuck up on me when I thought I'd romance Seb. I expect DAI will be the same, though I can be reasonably sure it'll be one of two. (Six of the LIs have some appeal for me, but four of them don't go for females/qunari/dwarves)
So I'll see where "witty, politically minded qunari who is very serious about being Inquisitor" takes me. I don't even know what decisions I'll have to make yet.
Welcome Simplykoatic222. Rogues are just awesome to play aren't they. Pull up a stool and join in the gushing. ![]()
Hey guys and gals, I just wanted to de-lurk to say I'm super excited about next months release of the game and art book. I currently don't have all the details planned out, but I will start with a female rogue who plans on Cullen being her LI.
Welcome! Are you planning on an elf or a human rogue? Rogues are definitely fun, but I usually find them hardest to work out on the first PT. But five of my ten completed PTs in DAO were rogues. Since half my PTs were also elves, my first PT ought to be an elven rogue, but my first two PTs will be neither elves nor rogues. That doesn't actually make sense, now that I think about it... ![]()
I'm going to go for an archer build for my second game. I'm playing a mage for my first. I have a thing for ranged characters, I relate more to PCs who try to actively avoid metal clad maniacs wailing on them. ![]()
