For all you archers out there!
I'd suggest getting the Artificer tree, especially with this skill.

Retconned. You need Lyrium.
Nah, Alistair had to use it again, he said so in the comics.
Interesting... but since characters are not omniscient, I wonder if Alistair believes he needs to use it, rather than knowing he needs to use it?
Was it Allan who said Cullen had sassed his Inquisitor at some point earlier in the thread...?
eta: yes it was!
So yeah, Cullen's no lukewarm dead fish. I bet if we try to get cute with him, he'll sass us right back.
I sure hope so, I prefer a relationship (friendship or romance) with some spirit in it.

That skill makes me think that the companion's versions of these skill trees may be different from ours.
There's no way they'd lock dual-wielding Inquisitors out of a spec.
I think this has already been confirmed... we know the sub-class of all nine followers.
It was theorized but never actually had 100% proof.
We learn our specializations from other people the we go on a quest to meet, NOT our companions this time around.
They locked dual-wielding rogues out of one talent. Artificier will be likely more oriented to archers, as Assassin will be to dual-wielders.That skill makes me think that the companion's versions of these skill trees may be different from ours.

*pouts* I don't wanna set a bunch of stupid traps just because I'm an archer! If Sera's a tempest, then I can be, too ![]()

Same... I don't like Artificer or Tempest, but I want to be an archer, so this is kind of depressing.
I guess traps makes sense for a Dalish hunter, but still. Ugh.

You can still be Assassin. You might Not take advantage of the spec completely though.Same... I don't like Artificer or Tempest, but I want to be an archer, so this is kind of depressing.

I meant the hail of arrows that doubles all your archery attacks...

These specialists control the battlefield with deadly traps. Neither they nor their explosive mines are ever where the enemy expects them to be.
Oohhh! Minefield for the win! (that's from the official site, by the way)
I'm drooling at the posibilities!

I know, right?! My canon quizzy is basically a hunter who spends days alone in the forest, trapping his own food... and I'm all, "But I don't wanna set traps!" ![]()
I'm quite content with mageliness, thankfully.

Still running Necromancer, no? I am personally very pleased with how the magic skill trees are turning out this time. I think I'll run a Rift Mage myself.
Well, I'm hoping we can choose any rogue spec as an archer, but we don't need to actually use the spec tree if we don't like it. Might as well max the other ones.

Alistair was basically wrong in DA:O (and later slightly retconned; memory lapse?
). Later in the comics he confirms he's using it again in order to use his abilities. More importantly, DG said explicitly in the Thedas UK interview that templars need it, and if they quit, their powers eventually go away.

Oh sure. Any spec could work for an archer.
Assassin: sniper!
Artificer: set immobilizing traps and shoot the helpless target!
Tempest: Coat arrows in alchemical concoctions and fire away! Ooh! Maybe the exploding arrows form Baldur's Gate will make a comeback!
Dalish KE for the win. Pick the best things of the Circle mages and using it for your own advantage
.
My eventual Qunari mage will be a Knight Enchanter. I'm personally not that interested in Necromancy. I'll let the boyfriend keep that one lol.

The lore makes sense, but I've always hated classes based around trap placement! I'm sure I could power through it if I really wanted to.
I'm hoping Assassin isn't TOO skewed towards dual-wield, because I was hoping to be an Assassin archer.

Ah, well, WoG is WoG. ![]()
It's a shame, I rather liked the idea of lyrium just being a means of control (but that being a secret to all but a few high-ranking Chantry members)
It might still be a form of Control. Only that now it requires something else to use those abilities.Ah, well, WoG is WoG.
