Basically:
Templars need Lyrium to use abilities.
Seekers don't need Lyrium to use abilities.
Neither is wrong. Just the Seekers have some trick to get the same results other than ingesting Lyrium.

It might still be a form of Control. Only that now it requires something else to use those abilities.
I think lyrium does double duty. It powers their abilities and keeps them in check. The question is how the Seekers are able to use those abilities without needing lyrium.
Ummmm....no?
You've lost me, now.
Apparently I've lost myself now. I could swear to the Maker someone told us this very info in the few days. That Cole is Assassin, Viv is KE, Varric is artificer. But I can't find it now. Maybe part of the dev clean up? Maybe I'm finally totally losing it? Maybe I'm channeling the future? Whelp. Guess now we know know. ![]()

All templars are mages and don't even know it!!
Not quite. They just have anti-magic powers.
DG also confirmed that yes, templar abilities are a form of magic. Of course, that's probably magic with a little 'm'. ![]()
TUK: The Templar abilities, are they--despite the Chantry's protestations--a form of magic?
DG: I would say that they are magic, they derive from lyrium, which is magic.

Well, I thought the same thing, so someone did post it ^^
Very OT, ME artwork commentary that cracked me up ![]()
Ali Hillis confirmed she's voicing Scout Harding.
“@ladyacomstock: @user @missalihillis Here: https://www.youtube....v=PjRI_Y_d7Jk …” Yup. Me. Scout Harding. @dragonage Inquisition Nov. 18. Yessss.
Same... I don't like Artificer or Tempest, but I want to be an archer, so this is kind of depressing.
To be fair, all Rogue specializations in DAO were useless for archers too. I'd just pick whatever to stop that annoying blinking + sign in the corner, and then never spend points towards them. The only spec tree that's ever really been useful for an archer was the one that mirrored Sebastian's in DA2, with that dummy doll evasion trick.
It's whatever, our bows shall carry us to victory! Useless spec trees and devs that fear our archer supremacy be damned! ![]()
I sure hope so, I prefer a relationship (friendship or romance) with some spirit in it.
Certainly. Doormat Cullen's days are done, welcome be New and Improved Sassy Cullen.
I really really need him to sass out my Quiz. The longer she spends in my head and not in the game, the more arrogant she becomes and the more she buys into her own ~Herald of Andraste~ hype. She's in dire need of being taken down a few notches by a certain Ser Templar out there. ![]()

I don't believe we know that Seekers don't use lyrium, tho. Just because Cass doesn't end up using it in game is just game mechanics; same reason anyone with templar spec doesn't use it in game. Most Seekers are recruited from the Templar ranks, ergo many were probably addicted to it to some degree. It follows that they'd still be using their templar training.

It's little "m". Templars have access to a magical ability, but it doesn't make them "mages". Being a mage constitutes a lot more than simply being able to negate magical powers.
I possibly did, but it was based on Laidlaw's tweet on companions sharing the PC's specs.
That could be it! So long as I'm not going crazy. (altho may be happening anyway!
)
I don't think they'd have specified in the spec description that she doesn't suffer from lyrium addiction if it was only a gameplay mechanic though.I don't believe we know that Seekers don't use lyrium, tho. All this talk of Seekers being able to use anti-magic abilities without lyrium makes me wonder if they are 'partial' mages. Not powerful enough to attract demons, but enough to use those abilities. Perhaps they have a way of testing that? When they are undergoing basic training they are able to track those with enough natural ability to make Seekers and they don't want to risk lyrium addiction on those... It would certainly put a different spin on why some are chosen to be Seekers. I wonder how Cassandra would react if that were the case?
Shenanigans...
And I wonder how Sandal's prophecy plays into this? All the magic will come back...

Where's the spec description? Is it on the main site?

No, I mean hers. The last video shown the description. I think Elu posted the Shot here.Where's the spec description? Is it on the main site?
I think they still use Lyrium, just know a way around the addiction
Ooh! Interesting idea. I get the feeling we're going to be uncovering a lot of dirty secrets here... And you know what it's gonna be awesome!

Aha! Thanks!!
Hmm.... *cough*retcon*cough*
Not necessarily, if the Seekers have some secrets that allow them to use templar abilities.Aha! Thanks!!

Yeah, if it was a retcon they wouldn't put the Lyrium addiction in the description.
The Seekers just have some special trick that gives them Templar powers without the Lyrium.
