WOO Thank you :D I did scroll back and saw the minimum recommendations. Man, this is why I hesitated to do the PC thing. With xbox you don't have to worry about this stuff! You just buy the game and you're good to go :) No requirements... no errors... no rebooting... no screens locking up. Sigh. I hope I made the right decision.

You're welcome. I hope you enjoy playing on PC. I'm a laptop gamer so it's even harder to shop and make sure I have the right setup xD

Yeah I did not even know you could really game on a laptop! My laptop is a couple years old and it struggles to play TS3

Oh, oh, my next step is to buy a controller. Does anyone know anything about those? Are there certain types and is one better than the others?

Great, they've released the specs :)

My Hubby says we're good to go but that he might update the graphics card anyway because updating the computer for DA releases is a love-you thing he does for me.  I'm so lucky...........and he knows I sulk if I can't turn every slider up to maximum.  I don't even know what most of the options are but I know that I want them maxed out.  :D :D :D

My PC is able to play it on it's recommended settings, which is a bonus! It also means I can record the highlights to use for videos, which is handy! I just hope DAI won't keep crashing, for some reason both the previous DA games do it a lot even though there's no obvious reason for it.

Well you can take screenshots with PC ^^

I like how easy.. and cheap consoles are as well. No need to check specs or anything, you just have to buy the game and play ^^

Lola, my computer kept doing this, too. Turns out all it needed was a good cleaning out with some canned air. Apparently all that dust contributes to overheating. Now I don't have anymore crashes!

I've been cleaning it out regularly more recently, but I haven't played either DA games for long enough to see if maybe that's what was causing it. I'll test it out!

But it's fun to learn to understand how your computer works and be able to do the upgrades yourself :)

I'm using a laptop nowadays, so I never do any computer building or upgrades anymore. But I used to love getting a package full of computer components to build a brand new computer. Different interests I suppose :)

Oh, oh, my next step is to buy a controller. Does anyone know anything about those? Are there certain types and is one better than the others?

You can get the standard Xbox controller for the PC. You just plug it into the USB port. No muss, no fuss. Since it's what you're used to, you don't even have to relearn the controls! However, I also suggest getting Origins for your PC and try it out with the PC controls. (It's free on Origin until the 15th, no bells and whistles though.) It's a very different game, but there's a lot of nuance there. Plus, the tactical camera. I'd never go back to the Xbox. Also, the ability to use 20 abilities on a bar that goes all the way across the screen is a plus. Origins is where I learned to play on the PC with a mouse and keyboard.

Anyway, just go to the gaming section of your local Best Buy type store (or just Best Buy) or GameStop and find the PC gaming section in their Gaming section. There should be a selection of controllers there, primarily it'll be Xbox because, you know, Microsoft. They're pretty expensive, I think. $30 or so for the standard and $60 for the wireless.

I'm the same. My boyfriend just built me a new gaming PC because my laptop was failing.  Most beautiful thing ever. :D I'm really looking forward to seeing if I can run Inquisition on Ultra as my specs beat out the recommended settings now. Oh, what wonderful screenshots I will take! Gamer techies are wonderful.

You Can buy an XBox joypad, I think.

I'm not sure about da2, since mine does not crash almost at all, but dao has trouble with multiple cores. If I remember the solution was to change processor's affinity to one core in settings. Mind you, it will still crash every now and again due to memory leaks and spell effect.

Oooo! Specs? (the geek in me can't help it)

Operating system: Windows 8.1 64 Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-4790 with Intel® HD Graphics 4600 (3.6 GHz, 8 MB cache, 4 cores)

RAM: 16 Gb DDR3 (2 x 8 Gb

Hard Drive: 256 GB SATA SSD; 3 TB 7200 rpm SATA; DVD SATA writer

Video; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 (2 GB GDDR5 dedicated)

Apparently that's good enough to run the game on medium to high without any real difficulty, so it should hopefully last me well into the next Gen cycle and for a good couple of years, I've been meaning to update from a laptop to an actual gaming pc for some time now.

Although at the moment, there's some weirdness with the order, so I'm having to straighten it out? This is why I dislike ordering things online... <_<

I had a friend build my pc for me about 1.5yrs ago, it's alright but was done on a very limited budget. Then one of hubbys tech friends had a look over it and decided the graphics card that I had bought was, in his words "crap for gaming" :( I had no spare cash to replace it. Thankfully he sent me up a different card, a gaming one, it's not new, I don't really know how old it is but it's freakin huge lol I call it my white Limousine lol. It's the only thing I'm twitchy about though, all I was told is that I might have to "tweek" the settings a bit...

I've given up trying to read too much into the wee snippets of dialogue we get from the BW gang on Twitter, they are great and mean people at the same time lol there is rarely any context and I end up freaking myself out thinking about them. Knowing BW writers we'd best ready ourselves for a few rollercoaster rides with our emotions lol. I don't mind as long as I have the option to help.

With that Jo/Cullen snip I'm going to guess that whoevers game that was in sent Cullen to Redcliffe but who knows, it could be a bad case of bedhead after a rough night and before coffee :D

Yes, the options which (can possibly) lead to romance are explicitly flagged with icons.

It's the regular tones in conversation options (Direct, Noble, Clever) which no longer have icons.

Phew! no ninjamances for me lol I was worried about that too, glad it's been cleared up.

My pc failed on the graphics card I have an nvidia geforce gt 440 :(. Met minimum on all else. I just hope it will still play on low long enough for me to upgrade cause I cant afford the game and new card right away.

I can play bf4 on low settings pretty smoothly so I have a glimmer of hope...(I hope)

I've got a 32-bit OS, but all my other components are fine.  I don't know whether to shell out $100 for a new OS and reload DAO and DA2, or see if my son will let me use his last-gen console.  It depends on how my interview works out.

Asus makes some really nice/reliable gaming laptops. I had mine for five years and it was rock solid right up until the end (and it only recently failed on account of an inadequate owner). It could handle pretty much all the top of the line games on the market, it was only just this year that it started to fall behind the times. I suggest looking at theirs when you're in the store (along with the specs). (Not Acer though, their hardware is crap.)

I don't even dislike Cullen. He's an okay dude. Where's this depth people are delving into though? I'm hoping this isn't simply about his appearance.

In DAO he wasn't even that good looking, and a lot of people have liked him from there.

For me he is a person that is has had his faith in what he does and what he believes shaken not once but twice on both sides, and never let it turn him into something horrible. Sure he got a little harder and resentful but it didn't make him crazy to the point of DEATH TO ALL MAGES.

He is a good man, blindly holding on to the belief that what he is doing is necessary and finally realising it isn't, but instead of going all Meredith, he stepped up and took responsibility.

@Wiccame, the GT440 has 512Mb so meets minimum requirement. Also check Nvidia for latest driver, they released a new 3D driver for old cards just a few weeks back and it really makes a difference.

Oh thank you for that I was getting worried! All I saw was the gt 440 seemed older than the minimum req'd and panicked. My drivers are fully up to date so I am feeling happier now :) Thanks!

So Josie and Iron Bull had their Keep tiles revealed even though Cullen was totally the most voted for in that tweet. INJUSTICE. :( :( :(

I voted Cullen too but thinking about it he already has a tile, a DA2 tile but, we already have seen him at least. Maybe they figured on that and just thought to go with unseen characters first. Sucks though, I really want to see Cullen in front of that heart <3 *sigh*

No problem. I had the same panic moment over my GTX 460...so I know how you feel. I have 3 PCs but 2 are work ones, they totally trash the recommended specs whilst my gaming PC is borderline.
