Yes!! He was very, "Those idiots, lol"
I lol'ed when he said it. Looks like he's realised that the Chantry is mostly full of shite, LOL!
WOW, he's totally HOT. ![]()
I like that! We saw little glimpses of it in DA2 but he'd often stifle it... probably since he was working and Hawke wasn't part of the Order so he was putting on a professional face.
Yeah, I noticed that in DA2 as well. Cullen seemed to often catch himself several times when speaking to Hawke, like he was trying to prevent himself from being too familiar with someone not part of the Templars. It seemed like he agreed with some of Hawke's points about the Templars, but wasn't able to voice them out loud and admit some of their problems, because he was trying to maintain good PR for the Order.

It's an interesting perspective for him. Lord Seeker Lambert had the same realization in Asunder, though it took him down a different path that ended pretty abruptly
He's kind of right--after all, what exactly is the Chantry going to do without its templars? But Josie's kind of right too, since it's not like people are going to abandon the Chantry overnight.
EDIT: On a side note, it's gonna be weird for a while hearing Cullen referred to as "Commander." I just think of Shep, or maybe the Warden-Commander.
You just have to work extra hard to crack that tough shell lol. My resolve has strengthened! You will respect the heck out of my mage, Cullen! She's going to be so freaking awesome you won't be able to help it!
Haha, this is what I'm picturing with my run. I'm going to make it work DAMN IT!

He's definitely very no-nonsense, and stubborn about his opinions, too. I kind of like it
Yeah....I think it will take a lot of Cass holding me back from fireballing the guy in the face.

Because he thought templars should close a rift instead of mages?

That is where Cullen and I would definitely disagree. But I am also curious as to what a templar could do to close a rift?
I hear you, I don't even listen, just look and admire
Yeah, I'm going to have to reload every conversation with him. "Sorry, what did you say?" ![]()

Rush in, kill everything in sight.
Surprisingly effective! ![]()

I think he said the templars should suppress the Breach, not close it. Which...I guess? It sounds more like a temporary stopgap to me--less risky than getting a bunch mages to supercharge your sparkly green hand, but also less effective.

They have the capability to supress magic, though I don't think they'd have enough power to close a Breach of this magnitude.

Hmm, I don't know. But I think you are right in that Templar intervention would not be permanent.
Because he thought templars should close a rift instead of mages?
And can you really blame Cullen for his stances at this point? Look at what happened in DA:O--tortured by demons unleashed by corrupt mages. Look at DA2--plenty of blood mages to go around and then Anders exploding the Chantry. Now, there's a huge tear in the Veil where demons are pouring out from the fade all across Thedas.
There have been and still are huge, destructive things happening that appear magic related. LOL, it makes sense that he would be cautious to employ mages/magic to fight something magical that they know nothing about. It might make it worse.

It's possible the Templar's talents for combating magic would be pretty handy in suppressing (not closing) the Rift. I don't think he has any illusions that they can actually close the Rift, just that Templars could be used as a temporary strategy against it.
Oh my goodness. The next five weeks just got even longer.

Cullen looks great -- I've complained a lot about what we've seen of his model so far not looking like him, but I'm totally delighted with the final one -- and better yet, the dialogue for everyone in this scene, especially him, is just fantastic. I love that the sarcastic edge we saw on a few occasions in DAO and DA2 is here in full force.
EDIT: And as for the Templar thing, I don't think that's necessarily anything "pro Templar" or against mages as people -- he just has a concrete idea of
ANOTHER EDIT: Also OMFG I think Josie is going to be my BFF.

So going back over the stream, here's what Cullen actually says regarding the Breach:
I think I'd like a little bit of friction between him and my human. BUT NOT DRAMA! There's a difference between disagreeing with a character and...Anders for example XD. i think it would be cute if they frustrated eachother a little, I'd like my human to ruffle his feathers a bit haha!
Re: Cullen's attitude:
Spoiler
Lol, I might as well had watched the whole livestream. I'm getting the gist of what was said anyhow.
So much for no spoilers. Anyway, yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Better to be cautious than go all out on something that's a gamble, potentially a danger.
