Yeah, she's far more laid back than DotS and in DA2. I was surprised to see her joke and smile so freely, I figured that we'd have to work hard to see that side of her, like Miranda in ME2.
They did say Cassandra has a sarcastic sense of humor. Possibly... she just found the joke funny? *shocking!*

Thanks soooooo much!

So no one else thinks he sounds different? I asked because I'm playing Origins and he just sounds different comparatively speaking. Was it a new VA? Or same guy just different tone?

Same VA.
This time Cullen exudes confidence and charisma. That might be it.
Ah, alright then.Totally different tone more confident and aggressive may I add,but it's still Greg Ellis who voices him.

It's still Greg Ellis, but it's been like five years since DAO, probably six since he recorded the original audio for DAO Cullen. His voice is naturally older, the sound director has a firmer grasp on the tone Greg needs to use for this specific character now since he's grown from wallpaper NPC to major character... he'll sound a bit different, but it's still the same VA.

He definitely sounds more grown up to me in this scene (than in DA2 and especially DAO) too. The incredible gentleness of DAO Cullen's voice in the mage origin (and the little laugh in his voice responding to Overly Flirty Amell/Surana - !!!) is one of my favorite parts of his portrayal and I bet we'll still hear a good bit of that, but only after the Inquisitor gets to know him better.
I can believe how many times I've watched the war-table scene already! That close up to Cullen during that small pause he does before saying "such as they are etc..." is pretty mesmerizing! I also I adore Josie's accent and hand movements,a graceful diplomat indeed.

I think so as well,I expect him to be confident and imposing when others are present but perhaps more relaxed when he's alone with a romanced inquisitor or one he's in friendly terms with. We'll get to see the man behind the soldier eventually. ![]()
Actually, I think he's bang on the money vocally. I was completely impressed with the continuity of his voice. I think Greg's done a bang up job, going off the little we have heard here.
Wow. You used "bang" a lot in that post. Something on your mind? teehee

I just finished replaying DA:O and DA:A (now onto DA2), and I totally agree. If anything, I think the greatest change is from DA2 to DA:I--his voice is still rather soft and occasionally hesitant in DA2, but he sounds older and more confident in DA:I.

Yeah, it helps that Cullen was lucky to be brought back in DA2, as the Templar subplot and the story being told over the course of several years really gave his character a lot of depth and much-needed development.
Given the sheer amount of NPCs in Origins (including the dozen other characters voiced by Greg Ellis), there was probably very little to Cullen than what was written on the page, so props to the sound director and Greg Ellis for making that adorkable Templar so memorable in our minds that we demanded to see him back.
If it wasn't for the devs listening to the fans and bringing him back for DA2, I truly doubt we'd have seen Cullen in this game and probably had a different war advisor. As it was however, the confidence and leadership he gained in DA2 made his character decide to leave the Templars and become our War Advisor seem like a perfectly natural evolution of the character.
