Maybe Cullen will even mention it himself
I think that might be a bit of a buzzkill!
Don't talk about that beotch in front of me!
Honestly, guys, they really didn't provide a good reason why you'd murder everyone in the Circle on account of what Anders did. I played a pro-templar Hawke all the way through and ultimately balked at the final decision because I just couldn't figure out the explanation behind the decision.
It was just kind of badly done, that's all.
It was badly done, but they did give you the option to spare some mages

I actually only sided with the templars in my first game because I was afraid I'd have to kill Carver otherwise.

No, just the character. Or at least as far as I know.
I was gonna say, that's insane. Mind you, so is needlessly attacking a fictional character lol. I'd like to think it's not any of us in here.

Protect city from abominations and blood mages and end the unnecessary fight as quickly and little bloodshed as possible.

Especially when you have to face blood mages and abominations anyway in the mage ending. -__-

They gave you the option to spare some, along with your sister, and Cullen got some good character development along the way. Still wasn't enough to keep the templar ending from turning my stomach though ![]()
Which is a shame, because some of the pro-templar decisions earlier on in the game were at least understandable.
Yes, Sebastian actually makes the most sense with his line "Why are we even debating on anulling the circle when the person who do this is right here!" or something to that effect--been a while. Especially if Bethany is in the circle.
Although, I do like that you get to see another side of Cullen if you pick Templar.
I love his line "That's what I believe being a Templar is all about."
The only way it makes sense for me to pick personally pick Templar in that instance though is if Hawke is not a mage and Bethany died in the Deep Roads or if I guess I could pretend that Hawke sides with the Templars just so she/he can go save Bethany, but there is no dialogue to express that that is why Hawke is doing it.
I think Bioware should of done something where a group in the Circle helped Anders blow up the Chantry --I think they would have gotten more players to side with the Templars in that case.
Yeah it bothered me because it made it look like Hawke was going to wipe out the Circle even if their sister was in it, instead of having a dialogue option where you could express something that made your decision either more neutral or gave some justification for it.
Like maybe Hawke went with the Templars because they didn't want Meredith to do anything too crazy, wanted to prevent the deaths of those who are innocent like your sister and her students, wanted to stop people like Grace, to quell those who are rebelling, or was simply trying to find the person in the Circle who helped Quentin in his sick experiments and get revenge on them?
If we'd had a scene where we see Anders go to a meeting of the Mage Underground, only to find them all wiped out by the Templars (which does happen, only offscreen), it would have made Anders much more sympathetic because we could understand why he went to the extreme lengths he did.
Or had a scene where we see the Mages in the Circle witness the blast, have a group of them utter something like "That's the signal, it's time!" and begin to rebel while the Templars are still gawking in confusion, it'd have made the Templar route seem more justified as well, since we'd see there actually were some Circle Mages in on it.
I don't think it does, from what we're presented. Bioware, to me, simply gives too many options to be evil.
Well, if you're a power-hungry Hawke, you can find several hints throughout Act 3 that siding with the templars is the only way to take power.
The presentation of the mage-templar conflict does leave much to be desired, however.

Well, I think it's only because Kirkwall is basically more extreme than Ferelden in a lot of ways. (For good reason according to what its built on.)
My mage Warden agreed to annul the Ferelden Circle because it was specifically said that all the surviving mages would be interrogated/investigated. Not killed outright, and not made tranquil. Which is apparently the case, since in my game Irving then saved Connor in the Fade.
Siding with the mages makes me feel like a sucker who loses everything and doesn't even get moral satisfaction because the mages turn out corrupt.
I'm gonna watch that Advisor introduction thingy again! ... Obsessed, much?
I hope Cullen talks about his time in Kirkwall---depending on your World State he may have some different dialogue options depending on if the Warden sided with the mages/Templars or if Hawke sided with either or in DA2.
I wonder how long Cullen remained in Kirkwall post DA2---do you think he was present at Lambert's meeting from Asunder?
There was also the fact that the Circle actually did have a lot of blood mages in it lol
True, though we don't know how many were practicing blood magic before Meredith turned the sword on them. IMO it's a bit of a gameplay/story problem; most mages that Hawke fights are blood mage, demon-summoning loonies, so therefore all the player sees of mages are the loonies.
I just wanted the option to say 'to Hell with the lot of you' and leave them to it. My Hawke will be hat shopping with Izzzy, no boss fights required!

Yes, Ferelden Circle seems pretty low key to me. Doesn't Anders say "everyone was kissing everyone?" ![]()
Also, Anders escaped about 3 times from the Circle---in Witch Hunt it seems like it's a running joke. I don't think if someone attempted to escape the Circle in Kirkwall 3 times that Meredith would be so tolerant.
Edit: Honestly, in hindsight, if I was Grand Cleric Elthina I would have demoted both Meredith and Orsino and sent them to separate Circles--although then we wouldn't have a game:)

Nah, of course not.
But then this is coming from a person who has it set on loop, so...![]()
Ah, okay. Still, reel in your fellows.
That's like going on the internet and asking a real life mountain to move. I'll post something, but I doubt it will do anything. It's like the deal with Fenris/Isabela, people get worked up over it still.
I'm more concerned about the Inquisition's plans to power up my Inquisitor's hand... can't imagine it's gonna be pleasant!
