I think Leliana's card is meant to be the Moon? I'm not sure. :S If so, then the Moon can refer to illusions, fear, anxiety and insecurity, and reversed, it can mean the release of fear, unhappiness or confusion. The moon itself is generally thought to be aloof, cold and distant. So going off of what we know of Leliana, I'd say that the Moon is pretty apt, I suppose. Hardened in Origins or no, she seems fairly aloof now. She's also our Spymaster, which is where the illusions bit can come in, and with espionage and propaganda at her disposal she can spread fear, anxiety and insecurity amongst the Inquisition's enemies while also easing fear and confusion by relaying proper information to the right people. Personally for her, she could be having a little crisis, what with the world ending at all. She could be anxious and insecure as to whether or not the Inquisition will succeed, but as time goes on and the Inquisition becomes successful, those fears could be assuaged, or released.

 

As for why she's naked? :S I have no idea. Ironic transparency in that she's our Spymaster and it's in her job description not to be so? She does have the crow on her shoulder though. Or is it a raven? A symbol of intellect and information. Communication. All at her fingertips. Or perhaps she feels exposed. I would if I were her too, what with Cassandra just bluntly telling everyone that Leliana is the Spymaster. It's like Liara and everyone knowing that's she's the Shadow Broker all over again.

So since I missed the page 3000 celebration I have quickly written up a truly silly blurb. (Seriously, it is really silly). Hope ya'll enjoy.

She rolled her eyes skyward, her nostrils flaring with each breath that was dramatically huffed through her nose. Maybe if she snagged the fleshy part of his palm between her teeth and gave it a gentle gnaw it would finally register in his mind that she didn’t need his hand clasped over her mouth to be able to remain silent.

 

Another breath forced through her nasal passage and yet his hand still remained. To bite, or not to bite, she really couldn’t decide. But then again, maybe the situation deserved some more forward thinking on her part, after all, he was the one huddling his splendidly naked form behind her fully clothed one and if she could just wiggle her bottom into the right position – ah, there it was, and still at half-mast, too. Not bad considering he genuinely seemed to be mortified over their predicament. She gave her bottom another wiggle, a more precise wiggle and she could hear the small hitch in his breathing as his hand tightened on her hip. She could imagine the scowl that would be creasing his features and with a sly smile spreading across her lips she wiggled again - and again, then on the fourth wiggle she let her tongue slip out from between her lips and flick over the rough skin of his palm.

 

“Cut it out.” He growled the words into the thick blanket of her hair, punctuating each one with a squeeze of his hand which had his fingertips digging into her hipbone.

 

She attempted to speak but all to no avail, her words muffled and not at all coherent when faced with the barrier his hand made over her mouth. She couldn’t take it anymore, she needed to be heard! And with a small intake of breath through her nose she lifted her foot and brought the heel of her boot down sharply on his foot. He hissed in pain, cursing her name to the Maker under his breath as he hopped on one foot behind and clung to her shoulders for balance with both hands. She was free!

 

“Maker, Cullen. Stop hoping around, I didn’t stomp that hard.”

 

“Hard enough to leave a bruise, I assure you. Was it really necessary?”

 

“I don’t know – you stand here for near to fifteen minutes with someone’s hand clamped over your mouth and you tell me.”

He snorted into her ear. “Stop exaggerating, it was more like five minutes.”

 

“I just don’t understand where you have gotten this notion from that I can’t be quite. I’m a rogue for Makers sake. Being quite is what we do. We also have a great sense of our surroundings.”

 

“Maybe the notion comes from all that unnatural howling you do when were—”

 

“Oh, please. Like that even counts,” she whispered furiously. “And don’t pretend like you don’t enjoy all the ‘unnatural howling’ when I’m riding you like a—”

 

“Hush.”

 

“Did you – did you just hush me?”

 

“Yes, I did—”

 

“How dare you—”

 

“They’re gone.” He gestured towards the gap in the bush before them that gave a clear view to the lake beyond.

 

“Oh, so they are. Well, do you still want to go for a dip?” She asked hopefully.

 

“I think it for the best that we head back.” But she really enjoyed watching the flexing of his muscles while he swam laps in the lake. She pouted.

 

“Why do you always let the smallest inconveniences ruin all our fun? Maker, anyone would think I’m having a relationship with someone’s grandfather.”

 

“Do you always bicker like an old married couple before sex?”

 

He froze behind her, his body going rigid and taught as he peeked over her shoulder and glared at the mop of blond hair that had popped up from behind the bush.

 

“Well, not always. But it can sometimes be the foreplay before the foreplay.”

 

Serah grinned at them; she looked so pleased with herself. Much more pleased with herself than usual. But before she even had the chance to narrow her eyes in suspicion at the petite elf the sound of skin smacking against skin filled her ears, loud enough to make them twitch.

 

Now you have to understand, it wasn’t often she couldn’t find the courage to turn around and look behind her. On the battlefield she would turn and stare down armoured ogres before clambering up their hulking forms and slitting their throats but there was something about that sound that made her almost want to cringe in fear. Maybe it was because she already knew that she’d most likely be getting the silent treatment for the next couple of days. She could feel it, all that anger rolling off of his body and engulfing her like a raging inferno.

 

“That’s a nice ass you got there, templar.”

 

She cringed. Well, that certainly locked the silent treatment in for at least a week. He was never going to let her forget this, not when that slurry accented voice continued to speak.

 

“You ever get sick of your man, Inquisitor, you let me know.”

 

She nodded her head dumbly as she watched Serah and the large qunari bump their fists together in some form of mutual understanding while they made their way up the path that led back to Skyhold. She was in so much trouble.

 

“Cullen—”

 

“Where was your ‘great sense of surroundings’ on that one?” He muttered irritably while roughly yanking his pants up to his hips.

 

“Come now, you can hardly blame me for what just happened.”

 

“Did you just have your ass slapped by a giant man? No, you didn’t, but I did. So yes, I can blame you.”

 

She balled her fists at her sides, ready to argue her point until she was red in the face and gasping for breath but all that came out was a pathetically uttered, “Cullen.” Maybe she was feeling the tiniest bit guilty.

 

“Don’t. I don’t want to hear it. I’m putting my foot down once and for all – no more one-on-one activities outdoors. They will be performed behind a locked door in either one of our private rooms. Communal rooms are also off limits,” he stated firmly.

 

Her shoulders slumped forward as she let out a breath. “Fine,” she agreed with a sigh. He seemed to perk up the slightest bit upon her agreement and he offered his hand for her to take as he turned towards the path. She slid her fingers between his and trailed behind him while scuffing the toes of her boots every now and then on the hard dirt.

 

“Sulking?” he asked as he gave her arm a gentle tug to bring her up beside him.

 

“Of course,” she replied with a grin.

It looks like a lion's mane, which would fit in with the lion theme for the armour?

 

There were different theories about it but the lion's mane is a rather popular one . I think Lola wanted to ask one of the devs ? Just wondering if she got an answer.

Standard tarot decks sold in France, Spain and Italy are only minor arcana and used for normal card games, the decks associated with fortune telling on the other hand, are major and minor arcana. I'm hoping for the Dragon Age deck being the 'fortune telling' variety as I love the major arcana cards...

Welcome back, Boom!

 

I've watched back through the advisors' introduction several more times (I'm sure I'm the only one who's done that ), and I still think Cullen is giving that Inquisitor the once over, but I don't think it's flirtatious now. Judging by the sword on her back, she's also a warrior, and the first thing two warriors would do is check the other person's armor and weapons to see if they're well maintained (and well used rather than show pieces) or if they're sloppy. That would particularly be the case with Cullen since he's been in command of troops for a significant bit of time from the sound of it.

 

I'd add two more possibilities to the list of materials for Cullen's collar - trophies from Tevinter mage robes (though those shoulders looked more feathery) or long sheeps' wool in uncombed locks. I'd go with an actual lion's mane except for the reddish streaks in it.

 

 

Also, dirty mind time: Why does there frequently seem to be poorly placed things around Cullen's groin area? First there was that quill and now this one has a dagger strategically poking out. Not that I'm complaining.... 

That's not a dagger handle, that's part of the guard of his sword that separates the blade from the hilt and helps protect the hand from another sword sliding down your blade to your hand (I noticed it right away and replayed it to see exactly what it was since a dagger pointed that direction kind of defies physics). If you watch, he keeps one of his hands resting on the pommel or hilt all the time. It's still...strategically placed.

Lelianas card is also swords. The circle has swords surrounding it, symbolic of the Chantrys sun symbol perhaps, also we have a Raven once considered messengers of the Norse Gods as well as bringing fire to man (illumination). She is naked on a dark card...the Maker sees everything. Her dream in DAO was of the encompassing darkness of the coming Blight...at the bottom is a dead rose bush.

 

Anyway that's my take on it, and yes I have a large collection of Tarot cards...and know how to use them.

I don't think we have any confirmation one way or another what Cullen's card is. King of Swords would make sense on the most literal level (in that he is the leader of our... swords), and would fit with Leliana's seemingly being the Queen of something, possibly Cups (I think people initially thought she was the World, with the circle and the nakedness, but I swear we saw a photo of her physical card that has a Q in the corner). I still think he could be the Emperor if he's not King of Swords, though. As for Josephine, Strength would make total sense for her role in the Inquisition (persuading, guiding indirectly, etc., the whole velvet glove and iron fist thing -- and a little added meaning if she is indeed taming the lion when the Inquisitor isn't ) and includes the infinity coming off of her quill, but maybe she's the Queen of Coins somehow?

EDIT: Here's the picture I was thinking of, from this post. Maybe she is the Queen of Swords; there seems to be a hilt behind the Q. That would be odd. I know they've said they're not tightly following traditional tarot decks, though, "because it's Thedas, not Earth". (ANOTHER EDIT: That was meant to imply that there could be different suits and cards, not that the meanings should be different for ones that stay the same.)
