Here's a question for you all. Imagine that you're already in a romance with Cullen. Say you've gone out on a really dangerous mission, you barely made it out. When you get back to base, does Cullen rush up to you and sweep you into his arms, murmuring thank the maker that you're all right, or does he stand behind the table and wait to greet you, not wanting to lose his cool when he's supposed to be dutiful and set an example for others that fall under his command?

 

I have replayed that in my head many times....I say he is cool at first and then further down the road he sweeps us up...

So...me haz a questionz....what do you all think of the name "Tristan" for an Inquisitor. I've been reading a lot about Tristan and Iseult lately, and the name has really stuck with me.

Haha never tried that! I got away by randomly choosing different dialogue lines (i always used to pick the same) which helped me to discover that he really does whinge on (a lot more than id noticed).

Similar roots to Trevelyan (assuming your Quizzy is human)--Cornish and Welsh.  Hopefully you give your character a happy ending despite his name meaning "sorrowful" (I think that's what it means at least.... it's been a while since I studied Arthurian legends).

That being said, I would love if the animations were able to convey smaller reactions... like he relaxes in relief, fists unclench, etc.  No need to go all Shakespearean hero on me, boy.

Hmmm... if there were a lot of people around (like say, the Inquisitor and co come riding back in through the courtyard whilst injured, and the soldiers are running drills), then I think Cullen would do his best to keep his cool, but he'd also immediately take charge--- ordering one of the soldiers to go get the healers, even if the Inquisitor isn't actually very injured or is already healed. He'd demand a status report from our companions while also hovering over the Inquisitor (and trying not to do it too much in front of the troops) and taking her inside, and then once they're finally inside that's when he loses his cool and sweeps her into his arms, thoroughly checking her over for injuries over her protestations (and depending on the situation, maybe even berating her for some of them), thanking the Maker under his breath that she's alright, "you're alright, you're back, Maker, when I heard, I was so afraid that I'd lost you." 

 

Although if it's really bad, I think he'd immediately rush over, troops and formalities and being an example be damned.

I'm doing new DAO playthrough. I have many ass!Wardens already so now it's time for flirt!Warden I plan to bed as many characters as possible and pick all flirt options. Ideal outcome would be old god baby with Morrigan, potical marriage with Anora and Zevran as mistress.. mister?

I'll go with the later. In public, Cullen should stay professional and in control, even it kills him to not be able to tackle her right there - he's the Inquisitor's military chief before he's her boyfriend, and losing his professional stance with romantic fluff in front of everyone is unbecoming.

 

In private, once he's escorted the Inquisitor to her quarters, he's welcome to lose it, fluff it up, hug her until she can't breathe, cry if he needs to, cover her with kisses, thank the Maker for her life, make her promise to never ever do something so stupid again because he can't stand the thought of losing her, rip her clothes off and make love on the floor, etc etc.

 

I prefer it like this: in public, I want Cullen to keep his composure. Behind closed doors, I want him as hopelessly romantic as they come.
