How strange, I just sat here looking at Cullen and couldn't believe that he's finally in Inquisition. It got to me that he really is in the new game. I think that in all of the excitement of the past months somehow I never reflected on that :] It feels like not so long ago we were wondering whether he'd appear in the game at all or how big his part would be. Hoping for a LI status felt like a lost cause. Seeing him relaxed, smiling, playing chess with Dorian and having a chat with Inquisitor simply caught me off-guard. I think it finally started to sink in.

Do you remember the image of the Inquisitor stabbing the war table and we were all trying to figure out if the guy standing there looking concerned was Cullen?  Or the figure waaaaay off in the distance waving at us on the mountain?  Speculating was really fun but actually knowing feels way better.

OMG, f***ing Undercity.  I actually had my friend come and get me on the two-seater mount because I couldn't figure out where the hell I was going.  Never played an undead after that 

*snicker* I think I actually ended up IMing one of my daughter's friends to get me out of Undercity the first time. That's about the time her friends decided I needed to be adopted in their mmorpgs.

I thought the same thing. It seemed like he worked hard to both impress her and get one up on her, just like a little brother would. 

Exactly, except I was the younger sister to the older brother. My dad swears I mysteriously taught myself to read before I started school because my brother came home from school saying "nyah, nyah, I can read and you can't". That was pretty much our relationship until we were grown too.

I wondered if it's the opposite, that she might be his younger sister and so was making fun of him for being worse at chess than she is? So he was forced to ask his (older?) brother to give him some pointers how to get even with her?

 

Either way, it's kind of nice to know that he's got siblings and has a good relationship with them.

it's just so cool to see how he has grown throughout these games! i can't get over it. he probably has the most growth i have ever seen from a video game character. he just seemed so confident! and sarcastic! ahhhh. and he seemed flirty, even. i'm sure he will have his stuttering moments but he has definitely come in to his own.

 

it's definitely settled, my female mage will be my first play through just for cullen. : P i really wanted to fall in love with dorian, because i prefer playing males, but nada. i can't wait to know more about them all in-game!

Now I just follow my boyfriend around; he is blessed with an albatross' sense of direction.  But I'm not going to have that option in DA:I.  One nice side effect of the bad level design in DA2 was that I could eventually just memorize the maps and not get lost.

I'd like to add myself to the list of "getting lost in Undercity" people. Even though I'm generally pretty good at maps, even that didn't help me much there. Eventually I learned how to spot the bat wrangler from the center pillar, and it became a lot easier to get out of there.

Bah, how could I forget hours spent on (over)analyzing shape of Cullen's nose or the way he frowns his brows. Good times... but better times ahead. I still don't know what kind of relationship my first Quizzy will form with Cullen but I really hope they will get along all right since I was waiting for this (ex)Templar for ever. And I secretly hope he will be her otp, or at least bff ;]

I think it's deliberately crafted so that it can be interpreted from whatever state of mind the Quizy is in, sort of like it feels like Alistair is flirting in DAO at first even before the romance arc had started.

I hear you. I usually try to keep an open mind when it comes to forming all sorts of bonds with my characters but it is really hard to look at this guy and not instantly ship him with all my pcs

Learning that he has siblings has made me way more excited about delving into his upbringing. This will probably never happen but imagine if we got to reconnect him with them in some way   It also sounds like he may have had a nice normal childhood which is something I really wanted for him. He has been through so much suffering as an adult that I kind of didn't want him to have a crappy upbringing. I wonder what number child he is? Guh, so much to mull-over!

... hoped he'd have a regular childhood. Regular enough. I mean, everyone has drama. But I hoped for normal drama, like inappropriate comments from dad when you bring new girlfriend home for Thanksgiving. Not your parents were a mage and a templar and they died for you when you were a baby, or what have you. 

 

Even if we don't meet them, I just want to sit and hear about them. All of them.

 

Also, I just want to sit and ask all the things. "Play chess?? To the Void with that! I want to hear about you! Do you know how to dance? How do you feel about karaoke? Boxers or briefs? Dog or cat person? Do you have any hobbies? Are you a good sport when you lose? Do you go to the Chantry every Sunday? ..."

Ahh, I haven't paid attention to details so thank you for pointing those out I  love them as well. The amount of detail on characters' faces is astounding and the close up with Cullen and Dorian is absolutely breathtaking.
