Also, I just want to sit and ask all the things. "Play chess?? To the Void with that! I want to hear about you! Do you know how to dance? How do you feel about karaoke? Boxers or briefs? Dog or cat person? Do you have any hobbies? Are you a good sport when you lose? Do you go to the Chantry every Sunday? ..." 

 

This just reminds me of the original Superman with Christopher Reeve... when Lois first interviews him on her roof top veranda (seriously woman, how much do you make to afford those swank digs?) and she's all flustered and busts out with "What color underwear am I wearing?!". LOL Then he takes her for a fly around town and she's all swoony when they return... It's going to be like that, except with chess. 

 

R2 - I can't wait for you to start the Inquisitor x Cullen fics!

Oh I really wanted this, too! I must have missed the bards in today's video (must've been when a student dropped by); when does it happen?

They start at about 12:27, right when the Inquisitor walks into the bar. When you go meet Cole.

So when you can play chess with cullen....it gives you the option to "play fair" or "let him win"....we saw the outcome of playing fair but wonder what would have happened if we let him win....would he know....would he be mad....hurt pride....take it as flirting....?

 

If it's anything like how Garrus reacts to you letting him win the can-shooting bet, I'm gonna be letting Cullen win every time. I can never make myself take that shot, he's just so happy to finally get one over Shep. If Cullen gets all cocky and cute and full of it like that, I'm gonna be "losing" at chess a lot.

Unpopular opinion... I honestly kind of found the scene to be nothing special...? I mean yes, he looked great. I'd be doing back flips if I could romance him. And it's cool to see him moving and speaking in a scene that is not war table-related. But overall it was kind of a boring scene that didn't reveal much about who he is or has become. 

 

I mean it is nice that he gets on with Dorian, so now we know he isn't a mage-hater (but we already knew that). 

 

I also hope he doesn't only get up for a female inquisitor  I do not need old fashioned sexist manners in my fantasy video game

 

My guess is they were probably purposely trying to not show any really detailed or super-interesting scenes to avoid spoiling too much. The scene was pretty boring but they both looked really nice, frostbite is gorg.

I think it was more of a respect thing. Since you are his commanding officer, he was more or less coming to attention, I believe.

Yeah, according to a tweet by Cameron this afternoon, the save that they loaded was apparently a minefield of spoilers, hence the care in choosing what we explored.

Yeah, both characters looked really great in that scene! Very warm and crisp and real. Very nice!

I think they're avoiding actually revealing much. My reaction is more to the changed personality and behavior. He's confident, snarky with Dorian, tries to joke with their very humorless inquisitor. They've presumably been working together for a while by this point.

 

I haven't decided if he half-stood in guilt at being caught relaxing, coming to attention for the Inquisitor, or was being attentive to a woman he was interested in. I'd prefer to find out it was the second myself, but we'll find out.

Aww chess isn't boring guys!To be honest as a chess nerd I enjoyed the scene and the sassing that took place between Cullen and Dorian as well as that the Inquisitor gets to play as well.
I also love how they used original Thedas-themed pawns instead of the typical black and white we find in origins.
But I agree with the notion that they probably didn't want to show spoilers.Hence why they didn't choose the flirt option.

If they had been in a romance by that point, cause I'm pretty sure they were not, yeah, I think it would be more manners than respect. I am curious to see the male version play itself out.

I figured that they didn't click the investigate option to avoid him telling us more about himself, so the scene is probably larger and more interesting, but they just skipped over all that the exposition and instead heading straight to the run-of-the-mill chess game?

I don't know. I must be weird, but I didn't think the scene was boring. There was a new nugget of info about Cullen's background, and it was awesome to see him so confident and relaxed, and interacting so comfortably. And damn if he's not sexy as hell.
