Just got to the part with Cullen and Dorian playing chess together, I love how they're trying to out sass each other, LOL! Good to know that Cullen has a brother and sister, I wonder if we'll get to meet them? When he said he wondered if she still played I thought maybe we'd end up encountering her at some point.

What did you guys think about the cutscene of chess triggering by clicking on him whilst he was just by the window? I found that a little odd, especially since in DA2 that sort of scene would usually just automatically trigger as you walk through the door.

In some ways I'm glad it's not automatically trigger (gives me time to be "save" happy) but I felt it was odd that you trigger it no where near the gardens, at least I thought you might see them already in the garden playing and walk up to them. I also wondered if this interaction only became available after Cameron turning the that requisition order (I think it was)?

I do also get the feeling that his personal quest may involve his sibling or siblings... it makes me wonder if his brother choose a similar path or not. It also makes me kinda feel like he might be minor nobility after all but it will definitely be interesting to find out. I'm glad they didn't dig further so I can find out in game myself.

So Cullen practiced chess a lot. In medieval-ish settings, isn't chess more of a high-class game? So this could mean Cullen is from a noble family.

Ha! I just said something similar ;) I am really leaning towards minor nobility. If you can go by anything in HoDA one of the groups he's listed as being part of is Fereldan, so maybe minor nobility from the Bannorn... kinda like Gilmore? Maybe a younger son?

I like the idea of Cullen being a minor noble from the Bannorn *nods head* Ban Hammer. Ban, ban, ban, ban hammer..........

Historically chess was considered a game of the nobility, and was used to assess an opponents tactics on the battlefield, it is said that King Richard the Lionheart and Saladin once played chess together.

Yeah, it was slightly odd. He wasn't even hanging out in front of a door that lead to the place they were playing chess. I'm super happy to find out he has family and quite possibly a relatively normal childhood. Our boy deserves it! I too hope that maybe we can reconnect him with his family in someway and it would be even better if we could meet them in the process.

I was expecting it to be done a bit like ME3 where the two characters interacting would be situated together, like when Vega and Kaidan could be found playing cards together in the Normandy. Ah well.

]Maybe the cutscene teleport was due to something more basic....normally you'd get a talk in the office, but once your hidden 'friendship' score reaches a certain level...the special scene cuts in? Just an idea.

Gotta say, Cullen definitely seems far more sociable than I was expecting! I like that a lot, especially watching him interact and actually get on well with Dorian who's a mage and proud.

I lol'd at him jumping up from the table, like he'd just been caught slacking off work, LOL!

Cullen is incredibly well spoken, isn't he! I reckon he's definitely from nobility, or at least upper middle class.

I think I'm either gonna cheat during the game of chess or let him win since he seemed so proud when he spoke about finally beating his sister after practicing so hard, lol.

I wonder if he would notice if you let him win. It's been bugging me since I saw the scene, god damn it.

I'm going to save each time before talking to him just to find out the reactions...cheat might be almost flirty...like ' oh, was that wrong? Teach me how to play.'  :P

Very :) At least he appears to be very well educated so it would make sense that he would be either. I suppose this definitely rules out him being a chantry orphan now and given to the templars. It's nice though, adds a bit more depth to his background. I can't wait to find out but I'm guessing I'll have to avoid the forums completely since US gets it days before Aus.

I think I will try... all! Yep! a serial saving here and I will try all options, then choose the one I like best before moving on...

For those that were bothered by the Cullen fan impersonation in the Monday stream:

user #1

@Mike_Laidlaw @Cameron__Lee would yall like to stop mocking fangirls in yr livestreams bc it's disrespectful af 1/2

Do you have an example? I sure don’t want to mock anyone.

user #2
@Mike_Laidlaw The "impersonation" of a Cullen fan during the Skyhold Monday stream was... weird.

Ah. Haven't seen it. Apologies on behalf of DA if it was mean-spirited.

user #2

@Mike_Laidlaw Thanks for listening. I don't think it was mean-spirited, just... ill-considered?

Ha! Sadly, those two share a postal code, so you have to be very careful.

I think I am a terrible woman cause I found it funny :/

No, no, no. Everyone feels about things differently and there is nothing wrong with that as long as we aren't pouncing on the people that think differently about it than us. To be honest, I have five (yes five) older brothers so it didn't even register in my head. I am impervious to teasing. :P

Yeah When cameron said we're going to see Cullen, he mentioned that the internet would be squealing(words to that effect) and the other guy, sorry don't know his name, squealed. Then they mentioned his bedroom.

I just saw it as a little teasing and a nod out to the Cullen fans...maybe I am just too old to get offended lol

Minor drama here this morning lol, I was outside talking with a neighbour for about 10mins, came indoors, made a cuppa, sat down to watch a wee bit of morning tv, did the washing up and such then ........omg, where is the dog??? calling him, checked all his normal haunts in the house, no sign.....PANIC..outside, walking up and down, knocked on the neighbours door, nope she hadn't seen him either......OMFG I felt ill, he's a huge golden lab, everyone knows him, how could I have lost him? real horrid stomach flips, back indoors, upstairs to the loo......big ass comes meandering out of the spare bedroom, he'd been up on the bed, he NEVER, ever goes upstairs, honestly I don't know whether to laugh or cry right now, I'm so relieved yet so mad lol he's giving me the *shrug* "whats your problem?" look atm

Welcome to our newest de-lurkers! & welcome back Lola & DA Fan, was following your tweets, your selfies tell me you guys had a blast! can't wait to see what happens :)

Do you guys remember the old Atari tv gaming system? Tennis anyone |   .   |   <-- that represented your chars and the ball :D Then I moved up in the world to a Sinclair Spectrum 48k lol I'm a total technophobe now though, I don't even own a mobile phone (partly as we get very little to no reception where I live, my mum had to make an important call once and had to go to the end of the pier in my village, she got a reception alright but it connected internationally to the Isle of Man  ).

I love the idea that Cullen is minor nobility, it would fit with him quite nicely from what little we know. It would be nice to think that he had a relatively stable childhood. I wonder how he came to the Templars, do we know yet if he chose to? or was it a Sebastian type thing with the "heir and the spare" so Cullen was kind of forced into the Templars so as not to compete.

Anyone planning on a DAI Nanowrimo?

I've been seriously considering it. Although it would probably just be the Cullen/f!Inquisitor fic that I haven't updated since like, July. >.> I'm sort of rewriting it, but I've got a lot of school stuff going on.

NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month, and usually takes place in November (but you can do it any month of the year!) It also doesn't have to be a novel! You can write screenplays, fanfics, different short stories... anything, so long as its writing. The other condition is that you have to reach at least 50, 000 words (correct me if I'm wrong), which is the length of a standard novel.

It can be really fun, but quite gruelling, but it's a good way to start disciplining yourself when it comes to writing. It makes you really sit down and think, "okay, I've got to try and write every day. If I can write x amount of words every day and set aside x amount of time a day (or a week, or whatever you can make work) then I can  get this done."

I've tried it twice. The first time was a couple of years ago, with a novel, and last year I tried doing different short stories.  It didn't work out. One day, I really hope to be able to actually finish the challenge, but I'm really proud of myself for having got as far as I did. I think the most I've done was 20,000, give or take.

I have mixed feelings. It's funny as joke but in other hand it gives ammo to people who don't like cullenites. Lot of us are fangirls (though it always seem to be forgotten that there is lot of fanboys too) and we squal at sometimes yes, but do we want be portrayed as mindless fangirls to people outside of fandom? I think Morie said it pretty well, it's bad promo for fandom although funny as joke.

Sounds fun but I think I'd be a little busy in November ;) I may be able to pull myself away after christmas (deluding myself a little lol) Is this a web thing, do you need to sign up or something?

I think it started out as a web thing, but you don't need to sign up. It can be something you just do for yourself for the sake of doing it/sake of being able to say you tried/did it. There is a website for it though, here, and it helps you track your progress and stuff. I think there are prizes for finishing, assuming you sign up, because I know a girl who won and her prize was that she got to have 20 copies of her finished novel published or something like that. There aren't chosen winners or anything either, you win when you manage to write and finish 50,000 words by 11:59 on November 30th. So everyone who makes the goal gets a prize, I think.

I've never ever signed up though. It's always been something I've just started on my own, and I only found out about the prizes and stuff last year. :S And I know some people who have done NaNoWriMo but not in November. The rules are pretty much just write and finish 50,000 in one month, basically. :S
