I hope your romance goes smoothly. And while I'm a bit unsure of how mine will turn out, I do like the possible dramaz, I won't lie.

I think that there are bound to be some sources of angst. It's BioWare. How could there not be? But I ended up pretty satisfied with my canon LIs in the other two games. Alistair and my Warden are married and ruling Ferelden. Anders and my Hawke may be on the run, but as far as I know they are still together and supporting eachother. So I'm expecting that if I make the right decisions, my Quizy has a chance to end up happy with Cullen even if there is angst along the way to that happiness. I am fully prepared to be wrong of course...I played ME too.... but I am still optimistic. ![]()
I'm sort of optimistic about the romances in this game in general. Maybe it's because most of the cast is a little older and mature than what we're used to. So I'm not expecting a lot of angst or drama, but I'm also not expecting none at all.
Apparently Liz described Cullen as DA's ME3 Garrus? If so, that would make me super happy.
I adored Garrus' romance because it embodies exactly what I look for in my own romantic relationships. Actually, Garrus' romance was pretty personal to me because it reminded me a lot of how my relationship with my boyfriend came about. I loved how Garrus and Shepard's romance developed naturally from their friendship (once they got over the whole cross-species awkwardness thing). You can really tell (especially in ME3) that they were friends first, because it shows in every aspect of their every interaction. Their relationship is based upon mutual respect and understanding that came from developing a really strong friendship, and I really hope we have something like that with Cullen.
Although, I could do without starting our romance with Cullen the way Shepard and Garrus started theirs... >.> "Why don't we test your reach and my flexibility? *smirky smirky winky face hur hur hur*" As hilarious as it would be to see the look on Cullen's face if something like that happened, I don't think I'd be able to handle the second-hand embarrassment all over again. "What!? Shepard! No! BAD! DOWN GIRL! BAD SHEPARD."

Aye all romances have had a crisis point, but theyve always had a way round it so far as i can remember;
alistair - keep his as warden or marry him as humie noble (or be a mistress if that works for ya)
zev - can run off to the crows, but not with decent approval
morrigan - can follow her into the mirror
leli - dont desecrate the urn
fenris - dont give him to denarius
anders- run off with him
izzy - high approval
merrill - decent approval
seb - kill anders
all me3 LIs - destroy ending with high ems
So im fairly sure there will be angst for a cullen romance but im pretty sure they'll have a chnace to sidestep/fix it.
Makkon is the human female's name. I think it's from Gamescom's demo.
I am pretty sure that's the human MALE'S name ![]()

Liz compared Cullen to Garrus because she kept romancing the two of them and no one else
It doesn't necessarily mean that his romance arc will be anything like Garrus's. Though as a fellow Garrus fan, I assume she wouldn't have liked Cullen's romance if it was, like, the exact opposite of Garrus or something.
Cullen: *wistful sigh* "I once had the biggest crush on the Warden.."
Inquisitor: *equally wistful* "And just think, when you were pining away after Amell, I was behind the Chantry with the boy who would be king... giving my first French handshake..."
Cullen's face:
YAAAASSSS; this is the moment when Cullen's cute little smirk is wiped off his face and he becomes the blushing boy from Origins ![]()
OMG
I just read something very disturbing. Help me clarify it. Contains Asunder spoilers.
I loved that conversation! My Warden was all, omg you haven't done it? Loser! Yeah Theron Mahariel was kind of a jerk
SAME!!!!! I felt a little trashy after I told him I'd licked multiple lampposts and then some. My warden didn't deserve innocent Alistair in that playthrough.

Ah! Thanks for the clarification! I was going off of some vague hear-say there.
It seems Liz and I are in the same boat >.> I have 9 completionist playthroughs of Mass Effect that I carried through all three games, and every single time I played ME2, I'd be like, "Okay, this time I'm definitely not going to romance Garrus. I'm going to try to romance someone else! Like maybe Thane! Or Kelly!" Meanwhile, on my screen, my Shepard would already be saying, "So why don't we test your reach, and my flexibility?
" And I'd be like, "Oh... well. ...next time, I'll definitely romance someone else!"
I dunno, maybe it's because I'm demisexual. I find it really hard romancing someone else other than my first/favourite LI, even if I'm RPing totally different characters. That being said, all of my favourite LI's remind me a lot of my boyfriend in some way, so... >.>
I thought I saw a Makkon somewhere, but maybe that's the male elf name.

I am pretty sure that's the human MALE'S name
Curiously Makkon is used for female and male Trevelyan.
Shandal Lavellan. Female. Easily could be used for both tho, I suppose, given what they did with Trev.

Valya was the name of one the inquisitor's we've seen. Unclear if that's a default name or not.
Well,I am not sure about our meeting the Warden since it has been already confirmed that we will not see Hero of Ferelden. But if we'll get any mentioning or maybe even a side quest about our Warden I think Cullen will say something like:" She was a good friend but she had chosen another life,so I've never seen her again".Nevertheless, there is still a tiny hope (at least for me) that we will see a small cameo of our Warden!
In DA2 it was obvious he still cared for her. He said something like "she was a special woman. I've never met anyone like that since." So I'm hoping its more of a conversation where he reveals his past infatuation with the warden to the inquisitor but is relieved he can officially be over her.
I have the same FemHawke. If she shows up I will probably be forced to put her down.
Yeahhhhh... because of this (and also because Garrett looks so darn fine in the trailers), I'm switching DA2 protagonists for my first (Cullen romance) playthrough.
I wonder what'll take to have a romance locked with Cullen. A game of the naughty Templar and the Desire Demon perhaps?

We're both right, because, as R2 pointed out, Makkon has been used from both male and female Trevelyan.

edit: I just realised you can't really tell from this screenshot if this Inquisitor is male or female, but it's from the IGN Gamescom demo where they used a female.

I'm the same way, though it's Kaidan for me
Three playthroughs, three Kaidan romances. And in DA2 it's....................... wait for it................. Fenris
Every. Damn. Time.
...Except the two times I romanced Anders and two more times I romanced Isabela. In order to do that, I had to not recruit Fenris. Like not even doing his "Bait and Switch" quest. Because even playing as a female, I knew that as soon as I saw him and heard him, I'd immediately restart my game, create another male Hawke, and romance him again.

We don't know his last name for certain, I think that name is speculation. So probably not. Unless it's pointed out in Asunder that it IS his last name?
So I've just started my first ever female mage playthrough for DAO...and it's the first time I talked to Cullen...with the mod...

It's so beautiful! Now I know what I missed out on!

I thought I saw somewhere on another thread that the default male Trevelyan was Maxwell. Which led to others saying that insists on making him a 2h Warrior with a silverite maul. ![]()
Also the female Trev we've seen is Evelyn, and the female Cadash is Malika? And maybe Shandal is the male Lavellan?
