Some days ago I read in tumblr that someone pointed Cullen's last name was "de Chalons". WELL. I am reading Asunder and they are talking about the rebellion leading to that civil war in Orlais. Apparently, the guy behind it is GRAND DUKE GASPARD DE CHALONS. Imagine my face. Is he related to Culen at all???

Kind of doubt,but boy that would be quite the plot-twist!

This was definitely a joke. There is no last name.

I have been wondering why he's got a lion helmet. Makes me think of the Lion of Orlais. And... I've never seen anyone in the DA-verse with a helmet like that. Just Aveline with her shield. His helmet is very Orlesian.

No, that was just a joke I made here in the thread to troll Morie and Macy. I pulled it out of my ass on spot just to mess with the guys here, I swear, there's zero actual relation between Cullen and Gaspard other than my terrible little joke.

 

It's hilarious if this really made it out to tumblr, though. I should probably spread a few more outrageous rumours just to see where they go.

Also the female Trev we've seen is Evelyn, and the female Cadash is Malika?  And maybe Shandal is the male Lavellan?

I think most of the ones we've seen recently are non default. The ones I posted are from when they first revealed the names at PAX, I think it was. My guess is that they'd be most likely to be the default. Given that we've seen two Makkons already... I'm putting my money on it as a default name.

I agree that it's very Orlesian!Maybe pretty much like Aveline one of his parents is from Orlais but he was brought up in Ferelden hence he lacks the accent.
I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Except for Hawke's Golden Prince's raiment. Or the Lion statues all over MotA. Or the lion statues all over Val Royeaux. Or the lions put on the DA:I Keeps.

Was gonna say this. We've had too many "default" names for each same gender/race, maybe this time they have a randomizer that throws names out from a pre-selected pool, like in The Sims. It's an interesting idea if that's the case. Random names, plus random default gender, helps disassociate from that idea of the "right" or "iconic" Inquisitor to play.

I´m not able to choose a name: Linet, Belle, Lissette, Mirabelle, Renée, Danielle, Jeannette, Charlotte, Serena, Sophia, Danaë,  Erith, Anyrith, Maradia, Elándra, Isidë...   

 

So I usually leave the default option

This could also be. Given the, erm, backlash against "Marian Hawke" not being your character. Maybe there is a pool of names. Apparently the "default" gender and race it picks for your character when you first go into chargen is randomized. Makes sense this could be, too.
