Perhaps this,or maybe they don't want to reveal too many info about him pre-release.I'm personally rooting for the second one.Do you think this is an "Alistair situation" where they haven't revealed it so far because he's been keeping info about his family or social status under wraps?

Hmm, interesting notion. TBH, I don't think so. My guess is that it's just a spoiler. Full stop. We used to speculate that he suddenly got a last name because he's not a templar any longer, so you'd have to call him Cullen Baker or whatever. Now... I reckon it's just because he actually gets a life at long last, and we get to learn it, too, along with his actual name.
Could he be long lost whatever?? Dear Maker, I hope not. ![]()

Me too. I really don't wanna learn anything else about Cullen until release now. With the spoilers in the last video, it feelks like we've already found too much about him before we even get a chance to talk to him in game. His last name, and if it has any significance at all other than that he has one, is something I def. wanna find from Cullen himself, not from a spoiler.

Hmmm.... does "humans = widely accepted" imply elves, dwarves and qunari will not be? That sounds very promising for those playthroughs.

Would I play the game if I was spoiled?Of course.
Would it be as intense as a blind playthrough?Absolutely not.

Most definitely not lol. It's gonna be harder to get your foot in the door if you're not human, especially with the Chantry. As a Qunari, it's gonna be even harder than for the other two.

I'm thinking this family thing with Cullen will be highlighted in his personal story arc in the game.

It could be that Cullen's family were originally from Orlais, but either were exiled, defected during Maric's rebellion or had been living in Ferelden for a generation or two, so when the country became independent, they considered themselves more Fereldan than Orlesian. The helmet might just be a family heirloom or something?
Or the answer could be none of the above and Cullen simply ganked a random Orlesian and stole his rather pimping helmet... ![]()

I think it's the latter. I don't think he's Orlesian at all, but since the majority of our troops are probably Orlesian, it'd be a powerful symbol for their commander to utilize.

I hope so! After my first playthrough as human I'm sure I'll be fed up with everyone so readily lapping up the ~herald PR. I want some racial drama with my Quizzes! Stomping on silly humans was the best part of playing elven and dwarven Wardens. ![]()

Oh, this would be so hilarious!
I honestly don't expect him to be some long lost heir to anything (yawn), especially as he has a sister who is probably older, plus a brother. I've been inclined to think his family ended up somehow caught between loyalties to Orlais and Ferelden. I think they almost have to be minor nobility, though, if he and his brother had so much time to practice chess to try to beat his sister. Leisure was always the mark of a high rank.
......maybe they want to feed on our tears of joy for once.......
Somehow, I don't think I'll hold my breath...
Hey now, as a reward for cute cakes, the Cullenites were told that the Cullen romance is pure excellence! So whether there are tears of sadness or joy, I don't think we'll be too upset at the end
We'll have to hope! Though "pure excellence" means very different things to different people.

Agreed. Hopefully the last name is just a symbol of his freedom from the Templars. I don't think Bioware would make another 'secret lineage' story

I guess I'm weird because if my mage warden showed up, I'd be perfectly fine with leaving them alone together. I believe in trusting a person until they prove otherwise. Then I get even. ![]()
SAME!!!!! I felt a little trashy after I told him I'd licked multiple lampposts and then some. My warden didn't deserve innocent Alistair in that playthrough.
Nah, if I recall, you got approval for this answer or the simple yes, but didn't if you said you never had. Apparently his concern was that someone in the bed have some prior experience.
Though I admit I only used that particular line once with him...from one of my Couslands who married him. My other Wardens were a bit more considerate of his obvious naivete.
I wonder what'll take to have a romance locked with Cullen. A game of the naughty Templar and the Desire Demon perhaps?
I'm pretty sure this would be a no-go with Cullen. Sounds like a fun game maybe with some other Templar though (has Carver finally grown up
)?

I'm seriously considering an elf IQ PT in which she decides to milk the Herald reputation (but for the good of the Dalish, of course). I'm pretty sure it'll backfire, but still, pragmatism! A human mage milking this would be great too, but completely doesn't fit my Ryumka's personality. She's more likely to genuinely be afraid she was chosen for some reason (and be certain it won't end well).
At least a couple of my elves had fun tweaking the noses of humans or challenging them when they were referred to as "knife ears".
