Is it sad that I headcanon my female human Mage, at least, getting tortured before she is rescued...?

I think we're all a little rough on our PCs.

My first warden was a rogue, and I figured out how to rescue myself (and Alistair). I've mostly taken that option because it avoids most bloodshed and I love to imagine Loghain being told the Warden(s) apparently just walked out of Fort Drakon without anyone noticing. But I've sent people in a couple of times, for fun (I had to let Leliana rescue her CE lover, the situation screamed for that, and I sent Sobaka (mabari) with her since that's one of the funnier options). I think I also sent in Zevran once with Oghren just because.

The best is sending Morrigan, and she totally chews out Anora for throwing the warden under the bus. I LOVE IT!!!

Yes!!! Like when we could rescue the warden and Alicat from Fort Drakon! That was by far one of my favorite parts of DA.

Yeah, like in the Arrival DLC for ME2, where Shepard's forced to fight off the indoctrinated team and escape the base by themselves? Or in Awakening when the Warden and party were captured by the Architect and you had to bust out, whilst retrieving your gear from his cronies?

I can't remember anything like that happening in DA2, which was a shame. MotA nearly did with Tallis and Hawke getting locked up, but the resolution to that was really weak. Your companions don't manage to rescue you, while Tallis just decides to open the cage which she could have done at any time, but decided not to because she wanted to show off?

At least in Origins, with the Dwarf Commoner storyline and Fort Drakon, you had a few options how to get the key from the guard? And in Drakon, you could choose not to fight anyone and go out in disguise if you wanted to?

And I love drama...I think I thought of it as her being questioned about the other Wardens, on Loghain's orders. And she is temporarily paralyzed magic wise due to her hands being severely burned. But...I don't think that could work...

Yes, I walked out in disguise at least 8 times. You do have to knock out one guard at the cell, then fight another and 2 mabari right after that, but you can avoid any other fighting.

maybe you'll find it a motivator for waking up early every morning (because i have a hard time doing so)

seems like i need more practice with bodies in perspective >.<

under cut because very nsfw

*deep breathing*

I hate you, you magnificently glorious woman.  (Actually, no, I don't.  This is just...ugh!  Amazing!  )

You just made it that much harder for me to set aside my Cullen-romancing Inquisitor 'til later (my plan was to make my first a Dorian-romancing qunari mage, but now I'm not so sure).

Just keep at it.  "Practice makes perfect," as the saying goes.  You're already doing a great job, if you ask me.

With the special abilities assigned to the classes in DAI (ie. burning stuff if you're a mage), I think there's a lot of room for unique ways to get out of situations so fingers crossed that there will be a plethora of those this time around!!

In my Morrigan romance, she sniped Anora, then told them that I had a ring that let her tell where I was, but that getting to me would be "quite something else. I'm pretty sure she wasn't throwing me under the bus herself since that would mean the DR with Alistair, and we know how enthusiastic they are about that.

I'm being surprisingly nice to my first DA:I PC, probably because my Hawkes had a really terrible time of it.  One went nuts, and the other basically said "NOPE NOPE NOPE" and ran off with Isabela because Kirkwall is the armpit of Thedas.

So my first PC is both kind and mentally well-adjusted, if rather eccentric.  We'll see how long that lasts  <_<

Oh I never got that far with my Morrigan romance playthrough ): Alistair pulled me in with his magnetic charm every time I tried a different playthrough, and I had to quit and start a new one with him. It's quite rude of him actually. But I really want to try to stick with her now.

Yeah...I do the same thing with my first PC, but they always turn out to be that bat-out-of-hell type...in other words...they go a little...psychotic  :D

I'd like to see something unique for the different classes or backgrounds. Take a Cadash Inquisitor, who has at least some criminal background (or grew up amongst criminals), it'd be fun to have some line of dialogue like "This isn't my first jailbreak" as they spring open the door with little effort?

Yea I think the rogues will be able to lock pick, persuade, sneak, and disguise themselves while warriors will basically HULK SMASH themselves out of every situation.

I had fun with the Alistair romance, but honestly, I could never entirely stop thinking of him as a puppy. Once I got into the Morrigan romance (playing as a male was very hard for me at first), I really enjoyed it. My Dalish is following her through the Eluvian.

Technically...all classes are able to open pathways or chests as well. I also think Bioware said everyone could use persuasion.

Definitely! I'd like to find out a Dalish rogue has spent some time "visiting" human villages and towns (and possibly nobles' estates). A Dalish rogue would move way up my list of PTs if she's been doing things like that. Hmm, that would make an interesting Cullen romance, wouldn't it?

But generally rogues will be better at it than other classes because of their generally higher cunning/dexterity. I would hope major scenes where those skills are involved would be more rogue-oriented.

I love how complicated Morrigan is... I often found myself wondering what her true motive was throughout the game. I hope we continue to see that in DAI. I wonder if she'll have opinions about the people she met in Origins (ie. Leliana, Cullen, etc.) but I have a feeling she'll find them irrelevant unless they somehow help her achieve her own goals. I do really want a huge confrontation between her and Alistair though. That would be EPIC.

I do too. And I find her more likeable than a lot of people seem to. A confrontation between her and Alistair, publicly, could be quite interesting, considering the information that will come out about the DR... :P

I don't know about lock picking but I don't think that persuasion is tied to your attributes but to the skill thing that was in DA:O. So every few times you leveled up, you would be able to pick a next level in Persuasion. Regardless, I am just happy that they are bringing back a lot that made DA:O so great.

I mean that isn't really cool if Persuasion is tied to certain attributes or a specific class, if that is the case than there better be similar skills that work like Persuasion for Mages and Warriors. I mean Warriors could easily intimidate and Mages have magic...not too hard to influence another with magic.
