I really like the guys style too. I would even settle for a pant suit if it was of slightly different design from the guys one. I used a mod for MoTA that kept the pants but changed the top to have lacey upper sleeves and a velvet bodice, still not a dress but it felt more inkeeping for a female character to wear to a formal function.

To be fair, not EVERY female character/person would make that choice, but I understand your point. I mean I was annoyed that my FemHawke was forced to walk like a girly-girl, so I can understand other players of FemHawke being upset she had to dress the same way as BroHawke.

(...) Also, there will not be dresses available for Inquisitors to wear to the Orlesian ball.

........well. I guess after three years of development I finally found one reason to be genuinely upset about anything in this game.

Stuck on man suits again, gross. It's ridiculous, they can make mage robes that look exactly like a dress, would it hurt to reskin one of those and just call it a dress? Ugh, this completely killed my enthusiasm for the Orlesian Ball. No point to a fancy ball if you're just gonna wear another manly pantsuit.

I absolutely agree with you, I apologise for my slip ;) I'm normally very careful to not be so specific.

LOL No problem, you can always count on the "gender police" over here to swoop in at any little "mishap"

My FemQuisitor would never wear a dress, but it sucks that a dress is not an OPTION.

I mean it sucks we don't get options, period. If dresses are too hard to animate (which I don't find too surprising coming from the DA team; remember the stiff balloon dresses in the ballroom clip from one of the first released trailers?? LOL)... at least give us two choices of top and pants... with one being more masculine, and one more feminine.

Cause wearing pants and a top can be very, very feminine; I mean just compare Tallis' outfit to Hawke's.

It isn't exclusive to just the DA team, animation apparently isn't as easy for developers in general

While I'm just fine with the pant suit and would probably not use the dress if it existed, I'm sorry you guys didn't get the option.

It's quite hard to imagine a Dalish elf wearing dress thought... It should be funny to see since from the description, a Levallan girl had never been in close contact with human. From what I imagine she will be more used to leather jackets and hunting gears than laces.

Anyway, if I make my F!inquisitor a warrior, I would like her to walk more masculinely than if she's a mage for example. Kind of like Brienne of Tarth maybe ;)

Anyway on this game even Cassandra walks in a VERY feminime way, with hips swaying. That disturbs me a bit...

Don't want to offend the devs but the hell? We even had some animated clothes in Dark souls II, why can't we have it in DAI? Though I didn't plan to play as femQuisitor, but the idea of them not having an option to wear a dress to a freaking ball?! An Orlesian ball?

Just... how on earth? This is a mockery.

And I absolutely loved how Sunset Overdrive's developer annihilated them by taking a day to make this.

Well what really irritates me is that we are going to a ball in which all (at least that I've noticed in the screenshots) the NPC female characters are going to be wearing fancy Orlesian frocks.  I wanted to wear a fancy frock too but I can't, I have to be a pants wearing unfashionable character.  Which isn't to say that pants aren't great evening wear in many situations but to my mind a formal ball isn't one of them, particularly when everyone other woman is wearing a dress.

So now I don't want to go to the ball at all.  Which is a shame because I was looking forward to it but I suppose that was mostly because I thought it would be fun to see my kickass adventurer get all prettied up and party during the mayhem.

Still cross!

The option for a dress for those who want it would be wonderful- but remember that there are women who aren't keen on dresses, please.

I would be severely bummed if they forced my Inquisitor into a dress, just as bummed as you guys are that you don't get a dress.

i think a choice would be great, for the males and females. i think (total speculation) that we will be fighting at the ball, so i can definitely understand animation if that is the case. but i think something resembling what vivienne had on in the twitch stream today would have been lovely. (maybe even more formal and frilly) it still looks dress-like but consists of pants. it will suck if there is no option because some peope can't picture their characters wearing a pant suit to a ball (or vice versa). :c

Well, this is why at least having the option would have been nice...

Something similar to the noble outfits in DA:O wouldn't bother me to be honest, but I agree that  an outfit similar to Vivi's would be nice.

So people who are ecstatic that they have yet another formal pants suit to wear to a social event are absolutely free to say 'Yay, Yippee, everyone can see my legs - how delightful!'  as much as they want to.  It's not going to cause an uproar.  I'm happy that someone is pleased about the garment provided because I'm surely not and it's nice to think that not everyone else on the planet is simmering away in a foul mood because a small superficial thing that they wanted hasn't made it into in a huge epic roleplaying game, which they are otherwise pretty much guaranteed to enjoy.

I'm being petty and venting here!!!!  So I feel absolutely no inclination to recognise the appeal of other forms of evening wear.  :P :D  PANTSUITS SUCK!!!

I'm with you. I'd be offended if they forced my female inquisitors to wear a dress because some of mine just wouldn't. A rather feminine pantsuit, sure.

But because I'd be offended by that, I understand the opposite too: how aggravating it is to those who would adore being able to have their inquisitor wear a beautiful dress to a venue that obviously screams for it to be forced to wear what they feel are mannish clothes (even a couple of mine who would never wear a dress otherwise might enjoy wearing a dress for a formal ball, as long as it was restrained). On the other hand, there may be some male characters who'd enjoy that dress option as well :D .

Though, since there has been an implication that there might be fighting at the ball, perhaps we show up knowing there's going to be trouble and prepared for it? Outfitted in full armor/gear?

That's been exactly my issue. I don't mind so much if my mages walk like that, they've probably never run anywhere in a serious way in their life. But a warrior? I have to wonder how difficult it would have been to make the movements available to both genders and let people choose, since this doesn't involve cutscenes or people directly interacting.

Just saw this at the german section of the BSN. From the 14:20 mark onward there's a short view on the localisation of DA:I with the german voices of Varric and the female Inquisitior: Tilo Schmitz   (I just love his voice), Anke Reitzenstein and Manja Doering. Obviously there are some dialouge spoilers (there even seems to be a bit with Inqui seduceing someone,I think, based on a couple of lines Manja records). Don't know if someone around here is interested in stuff like that, but I thought maybe someone might be, at least it's probably more visible here... Or maybe it just distracts everyone from the no dress disapointment.^^

Otherwise don't mind me, I'm just trying awkwardly to contribute something, like I always do.

I just keep thinking that Viv would be very offended by your fem quisitor showing up to an Orlesian Ball in a pant suit. Honestly I would love to be able to wear a dress but I can live with not being able to. Everything else looks fantastic in this game that I am just gonna force myself not to be nit picky.
