When I was a teen I loved Eragon. xd

I was 22 when that book came out >.> I remember cause I was working in a bookstore at the time xD I found out the other was just a kid and I felt such rage... I hate it when kid authors make it big cause now I'm 34 and I'm still unpublished, well with fiction  :crying:

My first Dragon's Dogma pawn was named Arya :D I love her (in GoT), too; not familiar with Eragon.

It's a decent young adult fantasy novel series. I enjoyed reading it back in grade school.

For the record, in hindsight, you probably write better than this guy does.

:blush: Aww, thanks, I mean, I didn't know you'd read any of my stuff, or are you just saying that? :lol: Well quality doesn't always assure you a book deal, also, it helps to finally finish editing the damn book and actually send it out there >.> Which I plan to do, hmm, this summer or perhaps next. One thing about being a kid; you've got loads of free time to write best-selling novels!

Well, the last book came out in junior year of high school for me, by which time my reading repertoire had expanded significantly. By that age, you could realllllly tell this author's age, cause the writing was very lackluster and the main character made me want to kill him several times over cause he was an idiot.

Lol, I've read some of your stuff, so I know your writing style. I mean, this kid (I say kid, but he's 30 now) is good, cause you have to be to make it this far in the game. That said, you're no slouch when it comes to writing either.

Gosh thanks ^^ And hey that's just my fanfiction; it's wicked unpolished xD Wow I can't believe the "kid" is 30 now... There was also a young girl author who was really popular at the time, something like... Amelia Atwater-Rhodes? Does that ring bells with anyone? IIRC she was like 13 when I was working at the bookstore... and I swear had a new book out every month OTL

EDIT: Wow, I have a great memory, that's her name exactly... hatred sears the memory into my brain perhaps :lol:

One thing I have done, and those of you who are also aspiring writers probably also do this, is when I read a book that seems to be in the same genre as mine but that I think isn't very good, I immediately make note of who the author's editor and agent are because I figure, if they were willing to publish THAT rubbish, they'll think I'm a godsend! :lol:

Ah, I actually think that his personal quest will be something about getting him out of that armour... :wub:

Aislinn is really nice name for mages, its meaning is something about dreams/vision right? Very connected to the context since mages can visit the Fade consciously while sleeping.

Well, for my knight enchanter I'm still torn between Alanna or Aria. Apparently Aria means the following:

- Lioness (Hebrew): since Cullen's definitely a lion... :wub:

- a kind of song

Funny how bioware sometimes connect many LI (mostly male) with some kind of animal equivalent: Cullen's a lion, Fenris a wolf, and Iron bull is well... a bull. I assume that Blackwall can be something like a bear.

I find it hard to choose a name, but you've given me an idea.

Leona / Leonor / Leonora: means lioness  :)

A lion has to have a lion as a couple.

Also speaking of names, here is a fun thought when picking out a name. Why did your character's parents, or your character, choose that name for them?

For my human inquistor Navilia, I came up with the idea that she was named after her ancient ancestor Navilia the Dragonslayer, a Nevarran well dragonslayer back when they took to the idea of hunting dragons; with several family myths and legends about Her.

For my Dalish Mage - Enansal: this was easier, in the elven tongue it means gift or blessing. As she is a mage, she was like a gift bestowed upon the family from the Creators.

I either decide on a country of origin and look up suitable names here....or think of something the person is named for and look up different names that mean it (Hope, etc). Also I look up variations in the names of historical female warriors...like Matilda of Tuscany, Jeanne d'Arc etc.

Agreed.
In the end The thing it remained Most in my head is on of The dragon's names (Shruikan) which I really like.

Yeah I did that too for some of my elves :) And since I´m big on mythology and things like that I use that too :)

Agree.There, the Lion commander had his Lioness Inquisitor. And they'll have plenty of lion cubs

Both Aria and Llewellyn had meanings connected to lions though...

For the inquisitor's name list I pulled from fantasy books I read. Or choose from babynames or something like that based on the meaning. If ever she was Ferelden, it'll be on Celtic name list or something like that.

A question: we actually have these connections from the character's names:

- Fereldan -> UK/Ireland

- Orlais -> France

- Antiva -> Spain

- Free Marches???

*snip*

From what I could find, yes Aislinn is a dream/vision or a day-dream.  Hadn't really thought about the meaning - bonus that it fits well for my mage!  I just really like the pronunciation and how it fits with Treveylan.

Haha that gave me good chuckle :P Oh is anyone making a Quizzy called Joffrey ? :lol:

One of my Wardens is called Joffrey :P

Joffrey Cousland, the one who killed the elves, take over Anvil of the Void, Kill the mages on the tower, and kill Alistair, Wynne & Leliana, then defile the sacred ashes. Let Loghain sacrifice himself and got married to Anora. My evil playthrough.

I usually use names that belong to characters I write or have written... I have characters named Auryn and Cael, so I just, erm, respecced them :lol: as Auren and Kael. I checked out the list of Dalish characters on the wiki and decided that both those names could pass easily as Dalish; lots of -en and -el endings, so it works.

As to their families/parents/background, unless canon says otherwise, Auren's parents are dead and he has a sister, who I think is his clan's First. Kael is (obviously) the First of his clan; he is from another clan and hasn't seen his parents in years. (Because I think mage children are given to different clans when needed). Makes him a bit of an outcast.

Huh I finally decided with my worldstates for my different Inquisitors. Different for everyone XD I have 4 Wardens and 3 Hawkes and 5 Inquisitors planned so that was some work :3

I mostly tried to decide which Hawke + Inquisitor combos would be intresting together, who rules Ferelden: Alistair alone, Anora & Alistair or Anora & Warden (cause we at least see the ruler) and who I romanced in DAO since Morrigan and Leli are into game ^^

I use names that....resonate with me in some way.

Gale Trevelyan, cause Gale can either be as kind as a gentle breeze or as terrible as hurricane.

Lugh Adaar, cause I've been reading about Celtic mythology lately, and Lugh is a god of light. So Lugh will be my light bringer.

Tristan Trevelyan, cause I'm deep into the Arthurian sorts of myths and I like Tristan and Iseult's story.

Manwë Lavellan, just so I can get my LOTR fix.
