Was it ever stated where he is from??? I feel like we were told once he is from Fereldan

There is significant circumstantial evidence that he's Fereldan from his CHR file and from DA2 when Hawke says he sounds Fereldan.
 
 

But why sit on the name?  Just to torture the Cullenites?  After those lovely baked goods?  I don't know...it seems suspicious. But you may be right.

I'm sure that finding out his last name is probably just part of his background story that you get find out in game, and therefore, a story spoiler. Doesn't have to be Theirin or Howe to be a spoiler (and if it were... I doubt DG would have forgotten it in his interview with Ashe). Plus... they've thrown quite a few bones to the purportedly "squeeing" Cullen fans. I doubt holding back the name is any kind of punishment. Probably not even a fully formed thought beyond "spoiler."

Meh I liked the Cullen tile. My Hawkes were friends of Cullen and it was nice to get mention of that. Though I understand that the tile can be hard to interpret since there is no clear indicator if Cullen and Hawke were friends or not.

I think it just comes down to whether the Keep choices are intended to reflect what you did in past games, or a tool for you build your world from scratch. It seems they're trying to make it a bit of both since you can pick whatever you want... but I do think the Cullen tile is confusing since it wasn't actually a choice in game. And we can see that empirically given all the questions that have popped up in here, let alone the Keep forums.

Yeah, exactly. I think you can still personally hate him in DA2, and he can respond to you negatively. Like, when you tell him in Act 1 you're not picking sides, he gets pretty pissed in the "this is no stuffy scholars' debate" speech. But he'll stand up for you at the end no matter what. 

 

I think you can still headcanon that you were friends or not based on individual interactions... but I think that would be a bit different from most of the other tiles in the Keep.

I'm just not seeing Alistair as that warden in the screenshot atall, apart from the blonde hair, I see no similarity, much too young looking imo too. Alistair in DA2 did look quite a bit different but there was still no doubt as to who it was, goatee, quiffed fringe on his hair, I'd bet with the new CC at the very least Alistair in DAI will have his trademark goatee. Incidently, the major (not only) problem with the Alistair cameos in DA2 was in game lighting, I noticed a HUGE difference when I upgraded my pc and graphics (still wasn't super but much better).

 

The Cullen tile was an odd inclusion, although I liked it. There is no doubt in my mind that my Hawkes and Cullen were friends but I can see where people who perhaps never paid him much mind would find the black/white, friend or not decision quite a tricky one to answer. Disappointed it's been removed but the fact it can be taken out confirms for me that not every Keep choice or decision will have a bearing in DAI, it looks to me like some tiles are there only as an acknowledgement of a previous encounter or decision in your games.

 

I saw Gregs tweets yesterday, I already follow him but it will be great to see him reach his target. Damnable Rubiks Cube, the only way I ever beat it was pulling it apart and re-slotting all the cubes .

I believe Cullen is a noble cause common folks not that often have surnames and he played chess with his family member, doesn't sound like activity to farmers to me I guess we have to wait and see.

 

In other hand we can take out possibility of him being Theirin, he wouldn't know his brother and sister if he was another bastard child of Maric. My first guess was that he was orphan raised in chantry but that's out now too.. I will stay thinking he's youngest son of noble family ^^

I agree with this and would add that I think they made it clear that there would be no royal wedding situation in this one. If Cullen was another Maric bastard (which would assume half-brother and sister perhaps), that would be setting up the possibility of that with a non-mage Trevelyan inquisitor since Alistair and/or Anora probably need an heir badly.

Not sure how long it has been available, but I recently found that they've added a DAI t-shirt to the rewards catalog for Gamestop's PowerUp Rewards.  I used points to get one and it came yesterday (must have been timed to arrive the day the game went gold ).  It's a pretty thin material and only comes in men's sizes but is still pretty cool IMHO.

 

 

I own that! It's really well made and super comfortable!
