Hmm, I personally always felt they were lacking in DAO as well. That's the whole reason I made IRS to begin with, I just felt like after the initial romance scene the romance was non-existent until the landsmeet (at least with Alistair). So I found myself being careful about when I got the scene to make it cover more of the game.

 

I hope there is a nice balance between DAO and DA2 style when it comes to the romances in DAI. 

No one said DAO's romances were perfect. I used mods too. BUT!! They were better than DA2's. So, I do agree with you. A nice balance between the two games would be nice for DAI... or some new, better than those in one place??

I hated that during my Fenris romance play throughs too the point I wanted to slap her.

Yeah, it's a shame he's both race and gender gated though... he's the heaviest gated love interest out of all of them across all three games, which sucks because for years he's been one of the most sought after characters for both men and women.

 

Well, technically Solas is worse. Female elves only.

 

I would never call the characters "racist"; I mean that's just silly. That's like calling them sexiest because they only like girls. 

 

I think it's pretty obvious they've been gated for time and money reasons. It's kind of what irritates me most about the whole situation. Cause Solas should've been gay. 

 

...At least that's how I feel now ^^ Once we play the game we may see how difficult it would've been for the writers to make him a gay LI during such a quick turnaround; he might have a canon former female lover or something blah blah blah.

 

So in essence 1. People crying "racism" are silly because they are just characters; they like who they're written to like lol 2. I'm withholding judgment till the game comes out, and I do want to have faith in the writing, but 3. I'm pretty sure it was a time and money issue, and they went with the safe straight option(s).

I meant like when we get a Japanese movie voiced over by English speaking actors and the voice never really matches up with the mouths moving, it's pretty comical.

Out of curiosity, why do you feel Solas should be gay? For equal sexuality choices? Or does he just seem like he'd be gay?

For the Redcliffe mission, my assumption would be that if we sent Cullen, he would take a contingent of Inquisition soldiers and assail Redcliffe directly. So when we get there, we would be part of a frontal assault rather than sneaking in. I wouldn't expect Cullen to be in the dungeon because I wouldn't expect him to try and sneak in himself.

This is pretty much what I except as well. Maybe Cullen is busy with fighting demons and has already broke some gates open with the army. I doubt he will get captured at all, but this option would probaply lead some decrease in amount of soldiers since probaply couple die during battle.

IKR??? I love this thread so much!!! I dont even bother going to the main forums anymore because I know this is where all the juicy bits and all the news comes out     CULLENITES FOREVERR!!!!!

I sometimes look around the rest of the forum. It's not all bad but mostly it's just depressing. And the Cullen hate makes me want to crack some skulls. But I always remember who I'm representing and what the devs have asked of us, and then I just come back here to chill. I always think that maybe Cullen just attracts a special type of fan...empathetic, easy-going, & happy. The peeps here are wonderful. This thread is the the best because of it.

I can't believe the wait is almost over, it's the first time I've ever stuck around for the full development of anything! It's been interesting! In a way I'm actually gonna kinda miss the anticipation and speculation once it ships, but I can't wait to get stuck into the game and then dissect the whole thing with you guys on here!

 

Same Never done this before, and it's been quite a ride! Lots of ups and downs along the way lol A part of me wishes it hadn't become such a big part of my life because that really has just made me ripe for disappointment. But at the same time it's been fun talking to other people who love video games, too.

What's annoying is you don't realize what a sick perv he is until you play a female. Anders always makes the cheeky line about wanting to see that ("that" being Hawke dancing naked while slitting his/her wrists lol), but it's kinda cute and blush-worthy and not creepy lol 

 

But Orsino seems pretty "meh" when male Hawke makes that comment. But he comes alive when female Hawke makes it. *shudders* Creepy old bastard. I enjoyed stomping on his head after that

That's when they made Solas and Cullen romance options too. Man, I would have flipped tables having to work so closely with Cullen and not be able to romance him at all, LOL!
